Sunbeam Safe & Sound Heated Throw BL3221 Questions & Answers
VerifiedIs sunbeam blanket BL3221 is with auto switch? Or it stay on till it turned off manually?
Hi Maria, It only turns of manually unfortunately. Thanks
Can I safely use this product while sitting on a leather chair without damaging the chair? Thank you
I have used a heated throw for years on a leather sofa. No damage that I can see.
can you sit on an electric throw
No you cant. they are not very practical things. IMO
Hi tjenkins_au, Our throw rugs are practical and keep you beautifully warm in bed or on the couch! However they are designed to be put over you to keep you warm. As they have the wires, they are not meant to be sat on.
I have bought a sunbeam throw $79 from Big w but the unit has stopped working could you tell me how long the warranty was for as it is in the last 6 months I purchased it?
Hello, The packaging on my throw run stated the warranty was three years. For me: Myer no response. Sunbeam thought that it was Myers problem (lol). PayPal extracted the cash from Myer. In my experience the product was not fit for it's intended purpose.
In your situation I would try W and Sunbeam, then Consumer Affairs.
HI Rosie,
The warranty is for 3 years on this Sunbeam throw.
Please take the throw along with your purchase receipt back to BigW.
I am wondering if fluid was spilled on the throw by accident while it is on would it cause a shock?
As the sunbeam model B 3221 is discontinued, what has replaced it and why?
Hi Pipsqueek, The Bl3221 has been discontinued and no longer being manufactured although there is a successor model currently out in its place. The current model number is TR3000B Throw Rug Micro Fleece- RRP $79.95 and is exclusive to Big W!
Kind Regards
Sunbeam
are theses rugs safe to throw on a lounge and sit on it ??
The information on mine started its was to go over the top of the person and not to cover with anything else. It is not intended to be an electric blanket like that you would place on a bed but to lay over the top of you..yes you can use it one the lounge or chair or bed as long as it is on top of you...I see that this model is discontinued at Harvey Norman where I bought mine..but they have a new one out...well worth the investment..mine wasn't dear and came with a warranty if I can recall but I did buy mine a few years ago....fantastic for arthritis suffers....I hope I answered your question Bill

Is it possible to get an electric top blanket in queen size? I'm terminally ill and it would help with the pain greatly.
Hi Anissa, I haven't seen any but that does not say they don't exist. However, I reckon you could ask Sunbeam if it would be safe to sew to together, i.e. side by side....... hope you get an answer to your question and you have my warmest regards.....Sue
HI Anissa
I have looked online and can't find Queen or King sized ones available in Australia although they appear to be in the USA. The single size is quite generous though and still works well as a top blanket. I hope it helps.
warm wishes
Sue
Dear Anissa Elise,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. Unfortunately we do not have any Queen Size Blankets, until end of March early April. We apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Kind Regards
Sunbeam
Um, I might have missed this info, but can you please tell me where you bought the throw? I'm having trouble sourcing them, perhaps due to the cold winter this year. I'm in Sydney. David Jones in Chatswood don't carry them, nor the other ones that go on the mattress.
Thanks.
Big w sell them, check big w online as well
I bought it at Daivd Jones in Adelaide. However I bought a new one recently from Goldair from Harvey Norman's .
Thanks. I'll check out HN.
Will 600watt inverter and a 120 amp battery be enough to run the throw on low heat for 6 hours?
You'll have no problem running the blanket on a 600W inverter (the blanket is 120W, with an inrush current of 150W). I had a stab at trying to work out how long you'd get out of a 120Ah battery, but it started to test my ability to recall the maths around ac and dc power formulae. It's been a long time since my uni days :(
By my rough calculations, and ignoring any losses in the inverter or elsewhere, you should get about 8hrs out of a 120Ah battery (with 30% remaining in the battery so you don't damage your battery).
This is based on the blanket drawing 0.5A (120W/240V) on the ac side of the inverter, which IIRC, equates to 10A on the 12V side.
I'd have an auto-electrician check my calcs, and, as usual, ensure that you're running dual batteries and a power mgmt system so the blanket doesn't keep you nice and toasty overnight, but completely drain your battery and leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Nowhere does it mention the SIZE of the BL3221 Sunbeam Heated Throw Chocolate Brown. Is it too small?
It is 120cm x 164cm. I wouldn't want it any larger. One has to avoid folding it or having it bunched up.
I am staying at the home of a friend who has a very small puppy.
I know we are advised not to place objects on the blanket so is it unsafe if the puppy lies on part of the blanket?
Hi Marti, In my opinion I would let the puppy lay on the blanket if they choose to, but it might get a bit hot if there for too long so just make sure you remain in the room at the same time, and don't let them get under the blanket. Also, I'd make sure that the puppy is toilet trained before you let it near an electric blanket as that could probably be an issue if there are any accidents.
Thanks Sarzie. It is only when I have the blanket around me and I don't have it up high when she is on it.
It is safe for the puppy to lie on the blanket . You don’t want him to chew it though!
What is the energy consumption like on these heated throws?
Hi Di, Our electric throw uses 150watts of maximum power. We recommend to preheat for 15 minutes on high setting then turning down to a setting of 7. For energy consumption you will need to contact your energy provider.
My control melted. I have not washed or otherwise abused the warming throw. How do I report this and/or obtain warranty service? The blanket control will not power on.
You should contact Sunbeam directly of take it back to the shop where you bought it.
