Weber Genesis Silver Questions & Answers
VerifiedI have just taken possession of a Weber Genesis Silver. This unit has been running on natural gas and I wish to change it to LPG. Apart from the gas hose what other changes do I need to make. Many thanks, Ross Griffiths.
Not that easy unfortunately mate. It’s not just the hose and regulator, the gas flow restrictors in each of the on/off knobs need changing too. There’s far more energy in LPG than there is in Natural gas, as are the pressure requirements. There are kits available online, but like I said it’s more than just the hose/regulator.
Hi Ross, as mentioned by UFO there are quite a few elements of the gas chain which will need to be changed for the barbecue to run on LPG. If you are able to send through the serial number of the barbecue to social@weberbbq.com.au we can look at the conversion kit options for you and how best to proceed with completing a conversion of your Genesis Silver.
I really appreciate your responses. Unfortunately the label which had the serial number details was located on the bottom tray. It has been damaged and I cannot recognise any detail at all. Is there any other component that would assist you in identifying my Webber? Thanking you, Ross.
I have a Weber Genesis Silver B, purchased new 17 years ago (and still going strong) and would like to purchase new flavour bars (I need 5) and 2 grill grates. Any help from where to buy would be appreciated. I live in country NSW.
Nothing genuine available from Weber as far as I know mate. I ended up buying parts on Amazon US. Managed to get a genuine starter sparker clicker thing, but the V shaped grill grates were non genuine. Had them for 2 years and they haven't rusted, but they about 5mm smaller than genuine so they don't sit as flush as the genuine ones. If you've still got the plates but the TIG welds have given way (the reason I originally replaced my genuine ones), I'd strongly suggest getting them repaired/restored by a local welding person who can TIG weld stainless. Otherwise its these ones for $75 delivered. Don't fit perfect, but they do the job. They are sold by Amazon themselves, so if you aren't happy at least its not too much drama returning them. external link
Hi Michael, we have a range of spare parts available for all our barbecue models and can hopefully help you with new flavouriser bars and grills. Do you have the serial number of your Weber Genesis Silver B?
If you could send through a few photos of your Genesis including the current flavouriser bars and grills, the serial number if you have this and your best contact details to social@weberbbq.com.au and our team will be able to help.
Thanks for the information and I’ll send an email through with the details. I’ve had Weber products since 1983 from the kettle through to a new kettle last year, a baby q for the van and the Genesis Silver B. Love them all!!!!
how do you cook a roast pork on the webber genesis silver
Can I add a rotisserie motor to my Genesis silver bbq and if so which do you recommend?
My bbq has the slots available to fit one, but I have never used one on it. I think that most rotisseries are adjustable to some extent so you would need your bbq's measurements before shopping for one.
You can add Weber or Others. My Weber is great done everything from Chickens to 24 # Turkey.
Hi Keith, all of our rotisseries are here: external link Without the serial number, we can't tell you exactly which one will fit. If you have the serial number, you can contact us on 1300301290 and we can let you know exactly which ones are suitable for your barbecue. Thanks!

I have a Silver Genesis A. Would you be able to assist me in determining approximately how old this grill is?
Hi John, we can certainly help you. The Genesis Silver's were manufactured from the year 2000, but I can't tell you exactly what manufacture year your barbecue is without the serial number from the barbecue itself. If you send through the letters from that serial number, I can give you the year it was made. Thanks!
How many BTU's did the Weber Genesis Silver B have. I want buy the latest version but I want to know how many BTU's my current Genesis Silver B has? I bought the unit in 2004 and it has performed very well.
Hi John, a Genesis Silver B 2004 has BTU 36,000. Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to use this model with charcoal for extra flavour? Does it damage the system? Thank you.
Hi Mary, we would advise against using charcoal with this barbecue, or any premium gas barbecue as they are only designed to be used with a gas flame, not with burning charcoal/briquettes. Our gas barbecues are designed to create a similar (if not the same) flavour as you would get with charcoal, utilising the flavouriser bar system that allows the juices to sizzle on the bars (as they would over hot coals), and circulating that flavour around the food and imparting delicious barbecue flavour into whatever you're cooking.
Let us know if you need any further help.
Thanks very much.
You can optionally get a Stainless Steel basket and place hardwood chips in and allow for Smokey Flavor that way.
