Weber Spirit II Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedI have 310 series 1, the US set ups seem to have bottle underneath, yet instructions are for bottle attached to RHS, can bottle safely be fitted under bbq behind door?
Hi NS Thank you for reaching out. We would recommend to follow the instructions provided, we have different instructions/requirements to the US. We suggest to keep to bottle on the right hand side of the barbecue. Please call us on 1300 301 290, if you have any other questions
Hello, if I wanted to slow cook lamb shoulder do I place directly on grill, leaving only rhs burner on
Hi NS Thank you for reaching out, we can provide some advice here. To slow cook your lamb (6-7 hours) we recommend preheating it for 10 minutes with the left burner on MEDIUM and the centre and right burners OFF, then when cooking keep them the same, left burner MEDIUM and centre and right burner OFF. Or if you are looking to roast your lamb preheat for 10 minutes with your outside burners on HIGH and centre burner on LOW. Then when you begin cooking keep your outsider burners on HIGH and the centre burner OFF.
If you need any more advice please give us a call on 1300 301 290
Is there room underneath to store a LPG gas bottle?
There is a gas bottle holder on side which takes a 6 or 9kg LPG bottle. Don't think a 6kg wld fit on shelf under bbq. The Weber brand cover is excellent and covers bbq and gas bottle entirely -bbq stays dry even in heavy rain.
Hi Roger Thank you for reaching out. There is a place for the gas bottle on the side of the barbecue, the tank scale where the barbecue can slot into. It also includes a fuel-gage so you can know how much gas you have available in your bottle. If you have any further questions please let us know
Hi can you remove the bbq from the cart and use this as a "built in" style bbq on a bench? Love the look of the top of the bbq, not the cart though
Hi James, we do not recommend removing the barbecue from the cart and building it into a bench or similar. By altering the initial design of the barbecue this can impact the air flow and could lead to a safety hazard and potentially result in a fire.
Hi I have just purchased Spirit 11. I want to leave it set up with half grill half hotplate..can I do that even if I am only using the half grill or will the heat damage an empty hotplate or should I leave both grills in place and just put hotplate on when using.
Hi Alice, you can leave you Spirit set up with the half grill and hotplate together and this won't damage the barbecue. However it can cause further carbon build up and potential discolouration to the hotplate if it is not being used as frequently but still sitting in the barbecue.
We would reccomened if using this set up all the time to ensure you wash the hot plate regularly with your grills to help with its longevity.
Does placing a roast directly on grill plate (no tray or trivet) as instructed on Spirit II leave a big mess in fire box?
Yes, but whatever you cook does. You can't get a better roast though
Hi I am looking to purchase Spirit 11 310. However also considering Q2200. We are in a coastal location, it would have a cover but not undercover. Concerns re Q is the lightweight side shelves not being able to hold the food I wld be cooking. Kitchen is upstairs so need a sturdy side tables. Also with Spirit do I need to turn 3 burners on if just cooking 2 eye fillet steaks?
The spirit side tables are quite strong. You don't need all 3 burners on. I often put all 3 on to heat it up and then cook with 1 or 2. I cook roasts with the two end burners on and the centre one off It's great for roasts. I've had a couple of Q100s, the spirit is way better
Thanks. It does feel very sturdy. What do U cook in solid dish? Do U roast directly on the grill as shown in Weber video? Does that create a lot of mess in the bottom of bbq?
I need to convert my NG Spirit II E-320 to LPG after moving, where can I purchase a conversion kit in Australia?

Can you grill on this with the hood up?
Hi NAF, all of our barbecues are designed to cook with the hood down, as this is when they're most effective and you get that famous Weber flavour. If you cook with the hood up, you won't get the results you're after. Thanks!
Hi NAF, this approach was new to me when I started using my new Weber Spirit II but it really does work wonders. I've gone from cooking ok food on my old BBQ to becoming a Grill King. Preheat the grill, then lower the heat by a couple of notches, throw on your steaks and shut the lid. It's that simple and it works a treat. When I have onions on the hotplate and snags and steaks on the grill I will grill with the lid open for longer and it still cooks perfectly. There is also several weber spirit videos on youtube that are worth watching. Best BBQ I've ever bought!! :-)
Does it come with a griddle, I was told the classic Weber BBQ all come with the griddle.
Yes, the Spirit II comes with two grill plates and a hot plate / griddle. So you can configure the BBQ with two grills or one grill and the hot plate. The hot plate has an enamel like coating which makes it super easy to clean and helps the eggs, fish etc not to stick to the surface. Personally I’d go for the side burner too. Hope that helps.
Hello, I am considering a Weber Spirit II for my new place. I was just wondering if it comes with a flat plate option as well as the two grill plates pictured online? Many thanks!
Hi Nicholas, yes, you get two grill plates and a hotplate. It is a great bbq!
Hi Nicholas, great choice! It comes with two grill pieces, as well as heavy-duty porcelain enamelled cast iron hotplate in the box.
Hi can I just use a normal stainless steel roasting pan in the Spirit 2 or do I have to use a roasting rack and foil/convection tray? Can I use the large weber q roasting rack in the Spirit 2?
You can use what ever you like no problem.
Which is better? Worried about fat in a normal roasting dish causing flare ups
Hi Dee, I never use a roasting dish on my Spirit II - after pre-heating I turn the centre burner off and place my roast above the centre burner. It's producing the best roast lamb I've ever done. Have a look at the Weber video on youtube - just search weber Spirit II roasts
Thanks
Can you provide measurement of spirit 11 with the one side folded down
Hi Tucks, it's 105cm wide with one side folded down. Hope that helps!
Keen on this model. Will be first gas BBQ after many years of charcoal Webers. Silly question: if I get the NG option, is it possible to change it to LPG later on should our access to NG change? Thanks.
Hi Wilhelm, you may find the information from the North American Weber site useful: external link
Thanks, @Yalin. I have decided to go for the LPG version for now.
Hi Wihelm, we have conversion kits available should you need to change your gas fuel type- you can call us on 1300 301 290 to order these parts. Let us know if you need any other help!
Thank you, @weber. Appreciate that. I have decided to buy the LPG version and am extremely happy with it. Thank you for a great product!
