Hi there, please advice me. My baby is on mix feeding, she's now 27 days old. Since day 4 after discharge from hospital i was using s26 LF without consulting a pedestrian because i thought it's a safe milk since it says lactose free. Until 1 day the pharmacist ask me why im buying again 3cans after 3 cans before. He told me that i should ask first the pediatrician. That's the only time i realized that there is wrong with giving this LF Milk on baby. Please advise should i continue? I am currently on lockdown town and unable to go for pedia check up. Please advise. Ftm.

Is this formula off the market I can't find it anywhere except 24/7 wetherill park chemist
s26 lactose free is no longer - they are now s26 alula 'LI' my bubba was a ok and fine on the original blend but the new one gave him solid diarreoa for 3 weeks so we have switched to aptamil gold delact, $18 from chemist warehouse and we are back on the happy train. plus apparently if bub can get a script for it, you cna get it super duper cheap; so ive heard. I as yet have not done this.
Can I find out how long a bottle (made-up) of S26 Lactose free can sit on the bench, not refridgerated, before being given to the baby?
I have been told 5 hrs, but I'm sure it's not that long, especially this weather.
Concerned grandmother.
I don't leave mine out for any longer then 1hr.
No longer than 1 hour.
After the Formula has been made up, how long can the made-up bottle sit on the the benchwithout being Refridgerated?
I leave mine out for up to 1 hour.
1 hour the least as possible as it leads to contamination
Thanks Tiff and Dani.
Hi,
My baby boy has been on this formula for 4 days after being so windy and colicky for 4 months, we were recommended to give LF a go and see.
His poops have turned green now and are so foul smelling. Is this normal?
Just wanted to answer my own question. My son has been on this formula since September, it took a good week to get the other milk out of his system and his poos went back to normal. Since he has been on this formula, he has been so much more settled, sleeps for naps during the day and during the night, and has turned into such a happier baby than before.
So glad I have kept him on it and will continue to do so. :)
Mam how many dayshis poos went to normal?
I put my daughter on this when she was 2months old as she was screaming after every feed on s26 original. She was never tested to see if she was lactose intolerant a friend that had the same problem with her baby recommended it. Now 5.5months old she is still on it, is it bad for her to be on this formula even though she may not be lactose intolerant?
HI there, They wouldn't sell this formula if it were bad for babies. My Doctor and Maternal Health Nurse actually recommended this formula for my bub. I'm lactose intolerant myself. Doc thinks bub may be too. I have to be careful when introducing dairy when he is older. My bubs is 5 months old as well and is doing well on this formula. He's been on it for about 6 weeks now.
My baby is 8 weeks old and I had him on Heinz Nurture for about 4 weeks but started vomiting out his milk about two weeks ago. He has a little trouble bringing up his his wind so Ive got him on gripe water too. I also give him 100mls water before every feed. I changed his formula to karicare goat two weeks ago. His vomiting has minimised but hasnt stopped. Yestrday I changed his formula to S26 LF but he is back to where we were with the nurture just vomiting and unsettled. Should I continue for another day or two with the S26LF?
Hello there, Swapping and changing formulas can unsettle your babies tummy. They need to get used to it. Takes about a week to see the difference. I've read that gripe water can make babies vomit. Have not tried it for my bubs. I use infacol. The lactose free formula did not stop the reflux completely, just reduced it a lot. I would refrain from giving bubs 100ml of water - that's way too much water and can cause serious nutrient deficiencies. Watch how much you are feeding. If you overfeed them, they will bring it up. My bubs does well on the recommended amount to give for their age on the tins. But every baby is different.
Doctors told me that it will improve with age. My bubs is 5 months old now. He started teething at 3.5 months of age. That's when the drooling starts. Which means more spit-ups. They swallow more saliva.
Hang in there. If in doubt, have your bub seen by a paediatrician. Some babies have milk allergies, but this is uncommon.
100 mls of water before every feed is dangerous! A formula fed baby needs no more than 10-20ml of cooled boiled water PER DAY on top of the bottle feeds if you're using for bowels or wind pain! Please talk to your maternal and child health nurse as well as your doctor, he may need blood work done to ensure he hasn't dropped his sodium levels alittle. Please stop the water!!
Infants friend is a more natural based product and a lot of mums prefer it. Some have issues with infacol, I never did with my bubs but just another option for you.
Some babies are also just vomity, mine is 6mths old and still vomiting. He has been checked out and other than some mild reflux he is healthy so he will grow out of it.
Getting used to formula for some babies can take up to 2-3 wks so be patient. Goodluck!
Thank you very much for your response. I have reduced his water intake. I didn't think there was anything wrong with giving 100mls water before a feed as I've done it with my other nine children and have had no probs. just didn't have this problem with reflux and vomiting. Thank you for your advice!
What is the difference between the 2 s26 lactose free formulas? one has a blue lid and one has a gold lid, is there a difference or are they both as good?
The gold one has extra ingredients I was told to start with the blue lid one which will be more gentle on the tummy.
Good day
I was wondering whether S-26 LF would be a good option for my 5 month old who has developed a milk allergy rash while on normal S-26...she seems to be fine tummy-wise with the formula but the rash has developed and won't go away.
regards
Hi Candy, If you are saying she is developing an allergy rash, it sounds more like your bubba is allergic to the milk protein rather than not being able to digest the lactose. That being said, you could try LF and see if that helps. If she is still getting the rash, I would personally try soy milk formula or allerpro.
Is s26 lactose free is suitable for 15 month child?
Our child is 15 months old now and we are still using it for him. We alternate between a (longline) lactose free milk during the day and this formula at night.
Is the lactose free gold the same as the one with the green lid?
No the green lid version is not the gold one. It's just the regular lactose-free.
Is s26 lactose free also gluten free?
Not sure but best thing to do is to call the S-26 careline, they are really helpful.
How long does it take to see a diference??
For my baby it only took a few days to make her regular and it improved her silent reflux within a month. She is almost 9 months now and is still on it and we have never had a problem since! I also get it on prescription from the Doctor and it makes it a lot cheaper. Good luck!
My son had trouble with the runs and colic while breast feeding so mywfe and i decided to do the swap to SP26 lactose free and it has totaly changed him, but we now are faced with the problem of constipation! He only goes twice a week and he is a little agitated at times because of it. Should we try normal sp26 gold and see how it goes?
Hey! I tried normal s26 lactose- the gold one gave him constipation too! The gold has extra ingredients which aggravated his tummy. Try the normal blue s26 tin and see how it goes! Also if it continues a little prune juice (small quantities watered down) seemed to help my bub too
