Hill's Pet Nutrition
No surprises – She didn’t LOVE it. This isn’t surprising as it’s low fat and made for sensitive stomachs. Sounds boring but is effective.

Really disappointed with the misleading information of this product in regards to size. Yes, I discovered when it was delivered that it has an… Read more
'actual size' picture on the pack but that is very easy to miss when buying online. Plus, it's promoted as 'small bites' and there is a Chihuahua on the package, literally the smallest dog in existence, yet the kibble itself is MASSIVE! Like 2 - 2.5 cms (1 inch) square! I bought it for my Chi X JRT who has recently has a mandibulectomy, so I need to keep his remaining teeth in the best condition I possibly can and there is no chance that he can eat this kibble, it would have been difficult to eat even if he had both jaws fully intact. Even chopped up in to quarters (a time consuming task which also leave the kibble with rough, uncomfortable-to-eat edges) he struggles to eat the larger pieces, and doesn't seem to love the flavour, he chooses other kibble over this when I put out a selection. I cannot see smaller dogs, particularly Chis, Min Pins, Poms, toy poodles and other toy breeds even managing to fit this in their mouths. Super disappointed that I spent so much money on a food my dog basically can't eat, and that the company knowingly gaslights customers with the image and wording on the front of the pack.
This is just a single hydrolysed protein, NOT hypoallergenic – Sadly, vet FOH staff are telling people this product is hypoallergenic. My vet only sells Hills so I bought it. My French Bulldog broke out in rashes after this so I had to go back to Royal Canin hypoallergenic and havent had any problems since.
Wow what an improvement! – Our spoodle damaged her crucial ligament and was limping very badly. She had an operation to fix it but the vet discovered her miniscus was badly… Read more
damaged. He said that whilst she would be able to regain the use of her leg he feared that she would have a lot of arthritic pain as she aged. Six months after the operation, she was walking on the leg, but was very stiff and sore. I tried all types of supplements with no success. I was skeptical about this food and it was quite expensive, but decided to give it a go. Three weeks into the first bag and she is a completely different dog. She is running and playing again and not hiding all the time. She is walking on her leg with very little stiffness. I will continue to buy the Hills Prescription Jd Joint Care and highly recommend it to others.
cat will not eat it – my cat eats nearly anything i give it except this. the look on its face was bad and it walked backwards to get away
Would recommend – My 19 year old cat died earlier this year. She was healthy, active and happy right up to the day she died, the vet said she'd had a stroke and could… Read more
no longer move. Thing is .. she had never in her life had dental cleaning or surgery. Each time she went for her vaccinations and checkup they looked at her teeth and gums and said they were amazingly clean and healthy. She was fed daily (along with a choice wet food) on Hills Dental dry food for cats, and loved it. My other two cats have the same diet, one with healthy teeth and gums, and one with a little tartar which we're keeping an eye on. I mix them with the hairball variety .
Enjoyable alternative for my fellows ! – Saw this product on special when going to purchase my usual dry kibble for our 2 Chihuahuas. It has added Omega 3 which is good for joint mobility (… Read more
one dog is 8 1/2 yrs witha slight luxating patella ) , and I thought it might make a change for them. The kibble is still quite small , and crunchy with a slight " fishy " smell that our boys seem to like ! Though it will probably never completely replace our preferred brand ( see other review ) , it is a very good stand-by , and , as it is Hills, it is a quality product .
Our younger less-fussy fellow seems to enjoy this product more than the older one I intended it for , though they both eat it ! Small size kibble.
Changed the ingredients - cat will no longer eat it – Have had my diabetic cat on this food for 12 months. In the last few months the texture of the product has changed and is now incredibly sloppy and… Read more
the smell is different. Unsurprisingly the taste must have changed too, as my cat who usually loves her food began to be less enthusiastic and has since stopped eating m/d completely. Since this I have spoken to several other diabetic cat owners who have had the same experience since the product has changed, with their cats also refusing to eat the m/d.
The thing about this situation that is really unacceptable, is that this food is recommended to unwell cats. And these cats' insulin dosage (and in my case several other medications) have been tailored around the cats diet. So for that diet to change, and in the case of m/d for several users to have their cats completely stop eating the food, it can massively effect the management of the diabetes. In my case, we were close to having my cat at a stable and healthy blood glucose range. As a result of her stopping eating we've had to completely change diet and are now back to having uncontrolled diabetes which we are having to slowly work back to having under control.
I personally will be keeping clear of all Hill's Prescription Diet products from now on. Not only is it miserably inadequate to change a product that is so intrinsically linked to the management of the condition it is designed for (diabetes) but it is severely concerning that cats like mine who loved their food are actually refusing to eat this product. I feel terrible for trying to get my cat to eat it.....and I'm concerned what has been added to the food which makes it so undesirable to eat.

this to me because of the fat:protein ratios but they are comparable across all kitten biscuits. She also said that they had "science" in them. I don't think there's any science behind it, and the ingredients are again comparable across brands. I think it's all hype and strategic marketing - and obviously vets and pet stores get a nice profit. I would not force my kittens to eat cardboard their whole lives and honestly I think it's a bit cruel if you only feed your animals this stuff. Imagine never being able to eat tasty food. I wasted my money. Will switch to royal cannin.

teeth hurt) so I have gone on to large size Hills kibble. I love it and remarkably my cohabiting monkey speaks very highly of it as well. As a quality food it is a bit/lots more expensive then supermarket brands but as I don't have to work I just don't care and really I only eat a couple of cups a day, so a big bag lasts a long time.
Benefits I also don't care about but get honourable mention by the monkey are, it does not smell, and pops out like magic as a firm easy to picked up dog egg predictably twice a day. For reasons that are a bit obscure to me , dog egg consistency, frequency and mild/no smell seems to be of undue importance to the monkey. Go figure!
Anyhow must go, got a tree to climb and then laugh at the dogs who can only look up in forlorn hope of a miracle. Boy, have I got a surprise for the cat over the back if he seeks to colonise my yard and thinks the trees are BAR.
Merry monkey ownership season.

Diet for for Dogs – My dachshund is very overweight. After only one week on this dry food he has lost 500gm. We have a way to go yet, but this new dog food is very promising.

genetically modified products in his c/d food may have caused his illness; recent research shows that GM foods can cause liver damage in lab rats. Research this product thoroughly before considering it for your pet. I wish I'd never fed it to him.
I don't like that genetically modified products are included in this pet food. We don't yet know if they're safe, and any non-biased research seems to show that they may cause health problems in animals. Hills should stop using GM products, as they may be harming pets.
Very satisfied with this product – My BC mix loves the food and she's 14 and in early stages of kidney failure . She is doing so much better now. Even playing again!
My dog can’t live without it – Dog likes the food, she is diabetic requiring same diet daily, never had a problem with it. We buy the large bag regularly, and use the ID tins for her.
This urinary care cat food is fantastic – Since starting my cat on the hills prescription urinary care cat food , she hasn’t had anymore urinary infections which got very severe, I highly recommend hills prescription’s food range , wet and dry food
