Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi, I have LR Discovery Sport which is actually built on evoque platform and I experience loss of power, mostly on a highway when hit the break while in cruise control mode and than want to accelerate. The "D" on a board starts to blink and no matter how you push the gas paddle it deccelaters for a 2-3 sec. and then gear shifter kick in again and everything seems fine. This happens unpredictably and not all the time. I even tried to trigger the problem intentionally, while driving, but it didn't happen. It's a kind of unsafe situation at 130 km/h... Any experience or a resolution of this kind of issue? LR service checked the vechicle and everything seemed to be fine.
I had the same situation today at 130 km overtaking with a car coming straight for me with total loss of power John
Very Dangerous it could have been a disaster
Absolutely! And LR is not giving any fix to this problem, at least I couldn't find the resolution so far. Obviously, it's a design/system flaw.
Regards, Bojan.
Same problem here

I just bought Land Rover evoque 2020 model a month back. Suddenly yesterday morning I found complete power failure of car. Car was dead without any power. After sending to service center at Land Rover they couldn’t find any reason why that happened ? Battery is draining fast but still working. Has any one faced the same problem ? Please suggest
Hello. I'm looking at purchasing this model range rover. Would you recommend and is this the only problem and did you get an answer why this happened thanks regards Chris
Hi yes service centre at Range Rover told that they upgraded software version (which connect battery to other unit of car). And since then working fine and no issue. I just drove for 4K km in last 4 months so too early to review but so far apart from this problem I am satisfied and it’s a good luxury car
My engine has overheated! What are my first steps?
I have a slight rattling noise front drivers side evoque 2011. Any help?
I am looking at purchasing a 2016 Evoque TD4 Pure.. anyone have any comments good and bad on this model?
has anyone had problems with a 2019 Range Rover Evoque 2 Litre petrol stalling. This has happened 4 times now and only in crawling traffic of 10kms and under. The car has to be manually put into park and then restarted. Any help would be appreciated. It has been in twice with LR service department and the second time now for 2 days. Only travelled 1100kms. Thanks
I have a rebate rover evoque- sd 4 - 2013 Hadn’t used the car For 4 days and went to The car and the engine wouldn’t start- literally dead, no dash lights no engine sound nothing, I thought it was a dead battery but no there is power to the battery. So it looks like all the electrics have gone, it’s a start stop and also a electric hand brake, I can’t release the hand brake to get it to a garage. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be- no electric going to the car at all?
Oops Range Rover not rebate lol
Is it common for the gear selector knob to get hot in 2013 model SD4 Dynamic? I have purchased this car secondhand and found the gear selector knob can get quite hot on occasions during a drive in excess of an hour. It does not happen every drive and LR dealer service centre cannot find the cause. I would like to hear from anyone that has similar experience please.
From the sun yes.
My Range Rover Evoque (2015 2.2l sd4 turbo diesel 9 speed auto) have problems of gear shift selector. The knob arises when engine starts. But the gear shift selector is stuck in P position. I could not turn the knob to change gear. I was told by an auto electrician that the auto transmission is damaged. Anybody have same problems before?
Hi I have 2014 Evouqe diesel 4x4, 2.2. When I am driving I am getting suddenly power loss, which last about a few seconds. It’s happening on highway, or with cruise control on, or when I slowly take off. No warning lights on. It’s unpredictable. It doesn’t matter what kind of weather it is. I called a Land Rover service and Car is up to date with updates. Anyone else with this problem?
Hi Violeta. Im having similar issues, did you got any solutions for that ?
Hi, When my next service was due I mentioned and they checked all filters. It’s stopped. When I called them back they said they didn’t do anything, except open and closed back where the filters are. They didn’t even replaced the filters, they were still in good condition. I am not sure, maybe they closed properly or turned around the filter or they have done something dodge before and the didn’t want to admit. I don’t have that problem since then. I hope this will help. Violeta
Thanks
I also have the same issue and it's getting dangerous, Carwire12 did you fix yours?
Hi
We have a Range Rover Evoque 2 door 2013 and both of the front seats do not release forward when lifting the hand assembly unit, what could be the problem?
Thanks
Darren
Hi Darren, I xcan see your concern and given yours us a reject doors serues . I wondered if it could be something to do with the electronic seating like my 4 door variant has a motorised seating position which never gave a proble . I niow have a new Velar which is a larger vehicle for my purposes. An independent specialist in Land Tover or a good auto electrician along with the two good Land Tover owner forums are a good place to allay concerns Best Wishes Barry
Hi there, I have a 2012 diesel evoque and the back driver side door wont lock (except manually) and the window wont go up and down, consequently when I lock the car with the key it beeps like something is wrong. My husband tried to fix by pulling off inside of the door and fitting a new control module but it still isnt fixed. Anyone got any ideas before I have to take to range rover service department and get charged a bomb? thanks
Hi Fiona, I am sorry I cannot help you as I have had Electric windows on other makes for a longer period than that. Being aware that Land Rover repairs can be costly, See if you can get the selling dealer to rectify this as for the door, that is more technical to deal with. It may be worth investigating if the Global locking is correctly set through the scrollable panel (security/convenience features) on the dashboard activated by the buttons on the steering wheel whilst the vehicle is stationary of course. Otherwise the motorised apparatus may be faulty. I rarely use the electric window except when occasionally letting in fresh air at times
We repair all Makes of luxury cars for a living as Certified VACC registered Mechanics...................suffice to say we'd rather own a much maligned Lada Niva than any Rangerover built after 1980..........at least the Lada Niva never broke down continually, and if it did, it was NEVER at astronmical millions of dollars in parts and labour...........and the Lada Niva got you there and home again.... ALWAYS...........do not put yourself through the mayhem of owning any vehicle that has deplorable reports............or is EGO really a dirty word ?
Todays generation is so lucky to have the WWW to "screen" cars before buying.............so why the hell are so many people ignoring this solid gold asset and not listening ? ......... dont kid yourself with the few "great" reports of some in here; theyre either stooges for the Car Coys or people who do 1 km a week as a shopping jeep, or they really do have a "Wednesday Car" that was built properly.
PEOPLE !...........check the WWW thoroughly and diligently before buying ANY car or SUV or truck at all........oh, BTW, it's free !
We have a 2012 SD4 Pure with a differential which the dealer says replacing out of warranty at a cost of $3,500 and would be interested to know if others have had this problem and, if so, how it was handled.
Any thoughts on this please ?

I have a 2014 Dynamic Evoque, it has only done 17224 k's and has done a turbo!!
It's currently at the dealers and is 8 weeks out of warranty, any suggestions out there? needless to say we are furious
Karen
So sorry to hear that Karen but it's "quite normal" with Land Rover cars to go bust in just a few k's. I would love to help you but I don't know how unfortunately. They will never admit from my experience that anything is ever wrong with their car.
If you try legal way, that's usually useless, cost money but more in lost time than anything else.
I wish you all the best!!!!
Hi , so sorry to hear this news. Don't believe RR Evoke dealership or Company in UK would be pleased . Firstly , I would approach principal of dealership by registered letter / email stating problems with vehicle ( be polite ) and only out of warranty short period . Give dealership and UK company at least two weeks to reply with their response . In the 2nd instance I would also approach Consumer Affairs in your state . Free service / advice . I'm not a lawyer, however I believe a product has to be in working order especially due to price . It would be different if you purchased a low cost item like eg hair tongs and only cost approx $200 as this car is very expensive and that alone should help your cause . Truly find it hard to believe RR Evoke would just dismiss you as their brand is too important .
Good luck.
I know how you feel Karen, we purchased a brand new Range Rover Evoque in July 2017 and after 6 weeks it started to jump out of her whilst driving. Sine then our dealer Buckby Motors has had the vehicle 4times being a total of 19 weeks to date. The last time at Land Rover Australias request they installed a camera to capture the issue (as apparently our word was not enough) and now they still have the vehicle and no closer to a resolution. This is the second Evoque we have had an would never purchase another nor recommend to anyone. Land Rover Australia just want money and will not take responsibility for a dodgy product. We have now obtained a lawyer to act on our behalf as Consumer Affairs (I won't say Protection as they have been on no help at all) are absolutely useless.

Hi just wondering if anyone has experienced issues with intermittent power loss, my issues been occurring all year with several attempts to find the issue but no warning light comes on. The car is a 2014 TD4 Manual.
Power loss is intermittent and occurs at take off and while driving, won't accelerate for approx 30 secs until it builds up power and rev counter jumps up and down statically. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, mine's an SD4 Auto. Only time I lost power was when I inadvertently knocked the steering wheel gear paddle putting car in neutral. Have not experienced anything like what you're describing.
DPF Regeneration i found out and pretty sure thats the issue. anyone with a diesel should read about in the manual-
Hi, I'm in the process of buying a 2014 9speed auto. It's been over a week before I receive it that they have found a fault in loss of power twice. They've gone over it fully and can't find a problem, they've contacted land rover in the uk which they've sent the delearship a number of spec to go through to rectify the problem, no problem still comes up but once they drive it it happens of and on. I've driven it before pre delivery but it didn't happen to me so now I'm worried about buying a car with a fault they can't fix.
Hi, If its DPF related then it may or may not happen it all depends on how it's driven. Mine still does it occasionally so when it does do it i have to take it for a run on the freeway because i mainly do city driving. My mechanic- No longer use Landrover- puts an additive in the fuel on servicing and then i take that freeway drive.
just do a steady speed above 80km/h for 20-30 minutes.
Yes it's annoying and not something you should have to do but have heard of Nissan and VW drivers with the same issue. Changing to a Petrol car hopefully in the next year.
anyone have trouble with the driving lights ? I have replaced 5 bulbs already and they burn out at the same time. They have just burned out again and are only a week old
My Evoque is almost 3 years old and hasn't had a single issue. Sounds electrical fault, suggest back to dealer.
I've just collected my new evouque but the rear doors won't open from the outside or the inside and the windows for the rear passengers won't open either, any one with any advice?
Sounds like an electrical issue, back to the dealer!
I'm looking at a range rover evoque. I'm hearing there are gearbox issues with them along with bits and pieces such as its loud, wind whistling etc and not worth the money. So confused anyone got any recommendations on where to get some advice? I obviously don't want to endanger families life, hearing car is just emergency stopping on the freeway etc.
I've been driving the RR Evoque 2015 model for the last 10 months. I've had no issues with the gear box or for that matter any other part failure. Recently, LR updated the gearbox software to Q500, which removed a bit of lag I felt and made the gearbox change smoother and faster. There use to be a bit of lag/delay changing from reverse to Drive, but the new Q500 software has fixed that. I couldn't be any happier with my car. Its smooth, premium, and drivers very well.
My evoque is a 2015 dynamic turbo diesel 9-speed auto and I have had endless problems with this one. One week after collecting the brand new car it suddenly and abruptly broke down in Melbourne city centre. All warning lights and messages displayed and it would not change out of 2nd gear - remember this is an auto so
I was pretty stuck. Had to wait for a tow truck and be taken back to the dealer. After them sending error messages to LandRover and receiving advice back (this happened over a few days) they changed the electrical control box for the rear diff. They also ran the gear box upgrade (q450 at that time) and got the car back working fine.
A month later, it started to 'get stuck' in the lower gears - rev counter going up and up and up into red but no shift. Took the car back to LandRover and they did more error reporting. On advice from LRA they changed the whole auto transmission - a week later I picked up the car and everything seemed OK.
A few weeks passed and then the car started having a VERY long lag between input (I.e. Pressing accelerator) and the car actually moving - I've now had the q500 update and it hasn't really made much of a difference.
All my problems seem related to the transmission. In my opinion 9 gears are too much for the evoque's electronics to deal with - it never really knows which one it should be in. I will get rid of this car soon for a non-Land Rover replacement. It's sad because my 1st Evoque was a manual and I never had any problems - a fabulous car. I would not touch an auto - reliability is definitely an issue.
