Guys - can you respond to this article in the Harvard Medical School Journal please.

How do you ensure you are sourcing protein powder for your products that does not contain what the above article is claiming?

Hi Perseus, Thanks for reaching out here and sure- I'm happy to assist! Firstly, it's important to note that this article is an opinion piece rather than scientific literature. The author's credibility and credentials are unknown, and their views are based on the opinion of a specific dietician. It's worth mentioning that many dieticians consider protein powders to be safe and effective for improving protein intake in one's diet.

The article claims that the lack of FDA regulation allows protein powders to potentially contain inaccurate labelling and safety concerns. However, this argument is flawed as it could be applied to various packaged foods on store shelves. In reality, reputable supplement companies, like ours in the sports nutrition industry, often undergo testing for macronutrient content, calories, and heavy metals. You can find this on our product page, under 'Lab Tests'. If you pour through some, you'll find an NMI test, which shows you the results of macronutrients and metals. Furthermore, the sports nutrition industry is subject to audits and regulations that ensure higher standards compared to regular food brands.

The article states that there is limited data on the long-term effects of high protein intake from supplements. However, this statement is incorrect. Numerous studies and research exist that highlight the effects of long-term high-protein diets, including benefits for weight management, muscle and bone development, among others. It's important to exercise moderation and not excessively consume protein, especially for individuals with pre-existing health issues, like kidney disease. However, we advise that people consult their physicians before engaging in any particular diet regime.

In any case, another weak argument in the article is that it suggests that protein powders may cause digestive distress, particularly for individuals with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance. This is a reasonable point, as people with allergies should avoid consuming substances that trigger their allergies. However, that is commonsensical, and not related to the point about protein powders specifically. For example, if you're allergic to peanuts, you probably wouldn't want to consume peanut butter, right? However, there are non-allergenic protein powders available, such as vegan protein options made from pea and rice proteins.

Lastly, the article raises concerns about protein powders being high in added sugars and calories. This can be easily determined by reading the nutritional information panel. I find that the vast majority of protein powders are low in fat, carbohydrates, and sugars. What the article may be alluding to are mass-gainers. It's important to differentiate between mass gainers and regular protein powders, as they serve different purposes. Therefore, the claim about added sugars and calories is irrelevant to most protein powders.

I hope this helps!

Can I use Amino z isolate powder with lactose free skim milk as a meal replacement shake after bariatric surgery? Will I need to add berries etc for taste or does it taste ok by itself. I won't be doing any intense workouts just walking aqua aerobics.

Amino Z
Amino Z   DM

Hi Marianne, Thank you for reaching out :) Our Amino Z Whey Protein Isolate comes in a huge flavour range, so we're confident that you'll find a few that you'll love. The vanilla creamy flavour is generally regarded as having a neutral flavour profile and can be consumed on its own or mixed with other ingredients of your choice. However, taste preferences are subjective, and we recommend trying different combinations to find the one that best suits your palate.

It's important to note that after bariatric surgery, it's essential to follow the dietary guidelines provided by your healthcare professional to ensure proper nutrition and adequate protein intake. Our product can certainly assist you in meeting your daily protein requirements, but it should not replace whole foods entirely.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks again Marianne!

I placed an order last Wednesday and it was sent with the courier Thursday. It should have been delivered Friday. The courier is not giving me an answer as to why my order is still sitting in the Sydney depot.

I’ve tried calling, texting and emailing Amino z to no avail.

Can someone please check on order 109408782 and get back to me ASAP?

Thanks

Hi Brooke, Thank you for your enquiry, We have replied to your email last 19 and 20 September. Last 20 September, we informed you that we have sent a replacement order via Australia Post instead, and the replacement order was dispatched last 19 September.

As per Australia Post's online tracker, they attempted delivery last 21 September, but no one was available to receive and sign for the parcel. They left a delivery card and forwarded the parcel to the post office where you can pick it up instead. It is awaiting collection at the post office.

I have sent a separate email with your tracking number and the post office location.

If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Grace, Team Amino Z

I am 26 years old guy,height 5.7,wight 76.which protein I should take with 1 hour workout?

Amino Z
Amino Z   DM

Hi Kangkan, Types of protein are goal specific. If you are looking to gain weight, look for a protein powder with a high carb content. If you are looking to lose weight, go for thermogenic (fat burning) protein powders.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Ailene
