Aseako Cruiser Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy Aseako bike has the three gears. It now makes a clunking sound when in the third gear. I’ve adjusted it so that the orange marker is exactly between the two lines. It has helped, but still clunks once when engaging the third gear. The bike is about 7 years old.
Hi. I am just starting to consider and electric bike. Can anyone advise what an average speed for one of these bikes is. My work is 16kms away (Belconnen to Woden) with a few decent hills and I need to confirm how long roughly the commute would take? The Citte, cruiser and alto are all around the same price point, do any of these models stand out as better then the others?
Hi Hayley, Thanks for your question. In relation to speed you need to be aware that for legal onroad use, assistance from the electric motor is limited to a max 25km per hour. This does not mean you cannot travel faster than this under your own pedal power but the motor is programmed to cut out at 25km to meet legal restrictions. For further details on the current legislation for e-bikes you can visit our FAQ section at external link
Re the right model for you it depends on your riding preferences. The Citte is designed for specific urban/city use where most riding will be on either roads and or sealed bike paths. It has a full pannier rack and a 3 speed internal hub gear system that is very reliable, low maintenance and easy to use. The Cruiser is exactly the same as the Citte in terms of drive and gearing system but has slightly shorter and wider tyres and obviously a full step through frame for these who are looking of ease of getting on or off or prefer a more upright riding position. Both bikes have full pannier racks for baskets, bags etc.
The Alto has the same drive system but uses a 8 speed derailleur gear system. (has 8 external sprockets at rear wheel) This system can require some additional maintenance over time but generally cheaper than and internal gear hub but has a few more gears at the high end which can assist with straight line speed. There is also 2 levers to change the gears up and down as compared to a simple twist control on the Citte & Cruiser Bikes.
Hopefully this assists. For additional assistance to match the right model, please feel free to contact us direct.
Kind regards

We have the alto and is ideal as a commuter bike. Step through is easy for both men and women. With pedal assist you can get up to 40kph down hill but governor cuts out at 25kph. You should be able to get to work in about 40 minutes or a bit less. We have found supplier very helpful. We had a bike mechanic assemble the bike for us just to make sure all worked well. Aseako can probably put you on to their local maintenance person.

Thanks Col and Jo. That’s really helpful
It really depends how much effort you put in as to how fast you go. I find if I put it in third gear and power assist mode, the more I peddle the faster I go but still with great ease of riding because of the power assist and I can still rest and let the bike do the work when I need to. To be honest we don't have big hills where I live but the bike takes it I it's stride when there is a hill. I'm guessing you'd need to allow 45 mins for your commute. I love the easy step thru design as I've had a hip replacement and not as agile as I used to be. I'm loving my bike.
hi bought my bike about 9 months ago and it was going fine but now the gearbox is making a grinding sound. Can you suggest a solution? PS ONLY BEEN RIDDEN TO WORK AND BACK
Hi Lizzy, I've had my bike for about three years now. There is a slight gear-box/motor noise occasionally and then it seems to go away. It doesn't seem to affect the bike's performance. The actual gear cogs etc could be very el-cheapo, but there's no way of knowing unless the whole motor is pulled apart. If your bike is still under warranty, get back to Aseako. They seem good people to deal with when a problem occurs. Peter
Hi Lizzy,
I am sorry to hear this, please send us an email direct and we can sort out a solution for you as soon as possible - sales@proelectricbikes.com.au.

Hello Aseako Rep, the photos of the Cruiser model dont show the disc brakes on the front wheel. Is this an error? Also, does this model come with a stand? and do you sell saddle bags as an extra?
Regards Jack
Hi, The Cruiser does come with a Tektro disc brake on the front even though the picture does not show this. Yes the Cruiser comes with a stand. We do not currently sell pannier bags, but you will find some very well priced bags on ebay. Regards Shaun
Yes, Shaun is certainly right. My Tourney has disc brakes front and back and a stand. Going by the Models page at external link the Cruiser model looks more oriented to riding and shopping about town rather than the rough stuff. (I will shortly be testing my Tourney out as a farm bike,)
I have pannier bags for my road bike and mountain bike, but they don't work so well on the Tourney. A normal rear carrier has a post going down to the rear axle, and that post keeps them off the rear wheel, but that can't be with rear suspension independent of the frame.. They would bounce around and snag the spokes of the rear wheel.
The solution I favour at the moment is an easily removable basket for the rear carrier. I checked one out a few days ago at a local bike shop. Price less than $50. But I'm still looking.
Hope this helps.
