Don’t waste your money. This product is rubbish. Use Bondell jet dry. Much better

No it won’t. This product is rubbish. Won’t even stick to concrete let alone oil base

Hi Naven, Our products adhere when the surfaces are prepared correctly. We were sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience with our product 2 years ago, and we would still be more than happy to look into it for you if you would like to reach out to us. You can reach our team on the above phone number if you would like us to help you find a solution to your issues. Thanks, The Berger Team

Naven. Jet dry bonds well but should never be applied to new concrete or concrete pavers etc. Or bladted at high pressure. Etch preparation is well explained and easy but does tend to be non agressive so patience and care helps. I wouldnt use acid to speed it up either

Hi Guys, I have had concrete laid around a new pool, then they tried to flake it but made a mess of it so the surface has had the sticky coating and flake on it but not sealed, can I put aqua tread over the top?

Paul
Paul

Dont understand what you mean. Berger jet dry is best applied to clean concrete and not on top of other coatings or stencil surfaces without testing adhesion and silicone resistance etc. If the surface is painted you may need to remove all traces etc. Then acid clean it.

Hi Martyn, Thanks for taking the time to ask! Like Paul has said, it can depend on what coatings have already been applied, but we can investigate this and give you the best advice to get the result you are after. Please give us a call on 13 25 25 (option 2) and we will be able to get you back on track to enjoying your new pool. Our team are here to help between 8:30am - 7pm AEST weekdays and 9am - 3pm AEST Saturdays. We look forward to hearing from you soon! Thanks, Lucy and the Berger Team

Can I apply a sealer on top of this product? I read it is not required on Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty but not sure about the Aquatread version.

Naven
Naven

I would steer clear from this product. It starts to peel and flake within a couple weeks after application. I did everything right during preparation and it still failed.

Paul
Paul

No you shouldnt apply sealant as this would affect ability to recoat later

Surit S.

Thanks. I've already applied 3 coats on top of existing old paint so will avoid the sealer then.

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Surit, Thanks for your question! As mentioned above, no sealer is required for this product, and three coats of Berger Jet Dry Aquatread will suffice! Peeling and flaking can occur when the surface is not prepared correctly, as all oil and contaminants will need to be thoroughly cleaned beforehand using Berger Jet Dry Active Clean and Active Etch products. Sometimes this can take several cleans and etches depending on the condition of the surface. If you have any other questions or would like help and advice, you can always call our team at 13 25 25 (option 2). Thanks, Lucy at Berger

Thanks Lucy. How long after the 3rd coat should we start using the surface?

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Surit, You can lightly walk on it the next day, but allow 7 days for the coating to fully cure (or up to 2 weeks in high humidity conditions) before putting any heavy pots or furniture on it. We're sure you will love the finish! Please feel free to call us on 13 25 25 (option 2) if you have any other questions. Thanks, Lucy at Berger

ive recently painted concrete slab with a tinted grey aquatread paint, carried out all necessary prep and 2 coats. My question is should I put a clear top sealer over top, as I'm noticing dirt footprints are being left and you have to scrub off, not just hose off. Thought it may need another coat of a sealer to make it stain resistant.

Using a spray gun to apply the Berger Jet Dry Aquatread satin. Should I dilute the current paint to run through the gun?

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi there! Thanks for your message. We don't recommend spraying Berger Jet Dry Aquatread Satin, as you could lost up to 80% of the product in the air. Please contact our Help & Advice team on 13 25 25 (Option 2) for further advice and assistance. Our operating hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am to 7:00pm, Saturdays from 8:30am to 3:00pm, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm AEST – Berger.

do I have to undercoat 5 year old concrete after etching it when painting with aqua tread satin or just top coat?

KitschWitch

It's probably best to phone Berger to ask them. The website doesn't have all of the relevant info and I don't know whether the tin would have it either (I don't have mine any more).

Can I paint a driveway?

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Robert, while Berger Jet Dry AquaTread is great for pathways and interior floors, we do not recommend it for driveways. Berger Jet Dry RapidTread or Heavy Duty products are recommended for use on driveways and garages. For further information, please contact the Berger Advice Line on 13 25 25. Thanks, The Berger Team.

Had same problem with flaking off after just a couple of weeks! So disappointed. Paint is expensive and now it's ruined! Looks awful! How are we supposed to get rid of it? And no, we will not be using this product again or recommending it!

KitschWitch
KitschWitch

I was assured that using the Berger undercoat/primer specifically for Aquatread Satin would be adequate and would obviate the need for an acid clean/stripping of the surface. But the fine print on the tin suggests otherwise. I wonder if I'd done the acid stripping, maybe Aquatread would have worked?

And perhaps the acid stripping would get the Aquatread off yours now it's flaking?

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Jules and KitschWitch, The acid etch step is an important step in painting any concrete. It roughens the concrete giving the paint a key to stick to. Due to the hard nature of concrete, and its heavy use, achieving a strong bond between the paint and the concrete is essential. Pressure washing (using the concrete attachment held less than 10 cm) from the surface is also highly recommended.

Jules - it you are finding your paint is flaking, high pressure washing as mentioned should help you remove the paint.

For more information, please contact the Berger Advice Line on 13 25 25.

Kind regards,

Berger Paint

Why did the aqua paint start flaking when all prep was carried out properly?

Amy76
Amy76

Hi, I finally got a representative to come and look and he couldn't tell me why it happened but took the tins for 'investigation' Our slab was sufficiently porous and the correct undercoat was applied. We got out money refunded, although the rep did offer to replace the undercoat/paint but id not waste my time doing it again.

Acid etch first, even though website says primer is enough.
