Berger

Hello Tony, Thank you for reaching out via Product Review. Please note that the Berger True Grit is recommended for use with Berger Jet Dry concrete paving and stone paints and sealers, rather than 2pak paints. If you'd like more product range information, feel free to give us a call on 132525 (option 2) and quote your ticket number 1330743 to our Berger technical consultant who takes your call. We have an existing coated concrete garage floor coated with Berger Jet Dry about ten years ago. It has stood up extremely well in both the garage section of the area and the workshop area. The garage has now been rearranged so there are a few original uncoated areas (not an issue - we will use the recommended process to coat these areas but the majority of the floor will be recoated - hopefully with Jet Dry. I have searched for recommendation as to the suggested process to recoat existing Jet Dry coatings without specific success. What are your recommendations to recoat Jet Dry with Jet Dry? Await your advices - thanks and kind regards,

Berger
Berger   DM

Hello Richard, Thanks for reaching out! The best spot for application instructions is on our Product Data Sheets. For Previously painted surfaces we recommend: Ensure previously painted surface is sound by cutting a small X through the existing paint with a sharp blade, press cellulose tape firmly across the cut, then rip off the tape. Repeat at random in a number of areas to test the surface. If the old paint comes off, it is unsound and should be completely removed. All sound gloss, and semi-gloss paint surfaces, need to be sanded to a matt finish and thoroughly cleaned in order to provide good adhesion.

Then apply 2 coats of Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty. All surfaces where the paint has been removed must be thoroughly cleaned and treated as per instructions for bare concrete. For prepainted timber surfaces any exposed greying timber should be removed by sanding and spot primed with a suitable acrylic timber primer.

Then apply 2 coats of Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty.

For further advice, please reach out on 13 25 25 Option 2.

I hope this information offers some assistance, and wish you all the best with your project!

Hi

What is the best product when repainting a slopped driveway

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Linda, Not all sloped driveways can be painted on, as some may be too steep! For surfaces with a gradient less than 8:1, you can use Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty and add Berger Jet Dry True Grip Clear. For any slope with a gradient greater than 8:1, please give us a call on 13 25 25 (option 2) and we'll be able to find the best paint for your driveway. Thanks, Lucy at Berger

Can I use Berger jet dry paint on timber weatherboard just below the roof

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Christine! It can really depend on the condition of the timber and what is on there at the moment since this is not a water-based paint like most exterior weatherboard paints are. It would be best to speak to our technical team on 13 25 25 (option 2) who will be able to answer this! We look forward to hearing from you soon! Thanks, - Lucy at Berger

Hi. We have painted our internal floors with Burger JetDry Heavy Duty White Gloss Paint. We painted it about a year ago. After painting, we did not move furniture/rugs etc in for about 4 weeks. Last week, the missies decided she wanted to do some re-arranging of the furniture. We noticed that where ever the paint was covered, Rugs, tables, couches, the Gloss white has yellowed. Significant enough to notice quite easily. The yellowing doesn't seem to be related to what was on the floor, more that it was covered. Could you please advise as to how we might fix the yellowing?

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi DB, We're so sorry to hear this is happening! Peeling can occur when the concrete is not prepared correctly, but there could also be other factors at play. Since this was applied by a professional, we recommend that you contact them for assistance, or contact us on 13 25 25 and we can look into the problem for you. Thanks, Lucy at Berger

My painter didn’t but do 2 coats

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Rob, Thanks for your question! It really depends on what you are recoating with, but if you are recoating with the same product, no undercoat is required so long as the current coating is in sound condition. As Bubblym says, be sure to do a minimum of 2 coats for best results. If you'd like to chat about your project before starting, or need advice in the future, feel free to call our friendly team on 13 25 25 who will get you on track. Thanks, Lucy at Berger

Hi, my concrete driveway was painted with jet dry over some other (incompatible) paint and is now pealing off. Do you have any type of remover that would strip all previous coatings to save grinding? I would like to get down to a clean surface to reapply jet dry.

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Peter, Oh no! We can definitely help you with this. We do have a remover, but it's also heavy-duty, so we recommend it only be applied by a professional applicator. You can learn more about this by calling our friendly Help & Advice team on 13 25 25 (option 2) who can talk you through this. Hi Stjepanbadanjak B, Thanks for taking the time to ask! That's a great question! This can be tricky, due to the porosity of the travertine which we would hate to damage! We painted our alfresco with Jet Dry paint 12-months ago, using the acid wash first. We have since found bits peeling away when we pressure hose the surface. I am worried that we failed to seal the surface afterwards which is causing the issue. I welcome any thoughts or feedback.

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Aaron, Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you're having this experience with Berger Jetdry Heavy Duty and would love to help. Generally, this loss of adhesion occurs when the paint is not adhering to the surface. This is usually a result of not enough cleaning prior to painting. While an acid wash can help, multiple washes may be needed to achieve the best adhesion. The acid wash does not always remove any oils or grease residue which may be causing this, so we recommend using both the Berger Jetdry Active Clean and Berger Jetdry Active Etch products.

However, our technical team will help you to rectify this. Please call us on 13 25 25 (option 2) and quote ticket #558209 so we can give you the best advice.

Thanks, Lucy at Berger.

Why can't Jet Dry be applied to a sloping driveway?

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Perry, Berger Jet Dry can be applied if the slope on the driveway is less than 0.125 (8:1) we recommend to add Berger Jet Dry True Grip is suitable. If the slope is greater than 0.125 we recommend that you do not use this as it can be a problem and may increase the chance of falls. Happy to help answer any other queries, you can call us on 13 25 25 (option 2). The Berger Team

Hi, can Jet Dry be applied over shiny tiles. Is an u der coat required for adhesion? Recommendation for undercoat if it’s required? Thanks, Paul

DarrenB
DarrenB

Hi, not an undercoat, just cleaned and etched. But bon’t waste your time or money. external link

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Paul We do not recommend applying the Berger Jet Dry to glossy tiles. It is best to remove the gloss first and then etch and clean the tiles. Once you have completed this preparation process you will then be able to apply the Berger Jet Dry with the knowledge that the best adhesion will take place. If you would like further assistance with your project please feel free to contact us on 13 25 25 Option 2. Regards - The Berger Jet Dry Team

Hi, can I use Berger Jet Dry on new asphalt .cheers

Berger
Berger   DM

Hi Steve Thank you for your enquiry. We do not recommend using the Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty product on a surface such as asphalt. The Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty product required a surface that dries solid and stays solid no matter the temperature. Asphalt is a mix that under heat softens, and as such could create adhesion problems of the Berger jet Dry Heavy Duty to the asphalt. If you would like further technical advice on your enquiry please feel free to contact our great Technical Team on 13 25 25 Option 2, or email us at Bergerpaints.customerserv@berger.com.au
