The Duo Temp function knob will not stay in the open position for the shot pour - steam works fine. You have to manually hold it until the the pour is finished. Can this be fixed?
I have a BES860 and the water goes straight to the drip tray. has anyone have this issue?
Normal rinse/priming action. Shouldn't put more than say 50cc into drip tray.
Thanks for that info, it must be stuck on this function? as it empties the whole cup in the drip tray
How do I change the front panel on 860 xl
Our rubber ring split after a year, then split again after replacing it for just two weeks! why is that Breville?
Can the grinder from the BES870 be used on the BES860?
can you use the BES870 grinder in the BES860?
I have the same question... Can anyone enlighten us?
Coffee grinder does not work. Roatator motor sound is present but grinder blade does not move.. How can I fix this problem?
Sorry, I have no idea
Where can I get the wiring diagram of the 980 coffee Machine
cup selection not working. makes to much coffee
Steamer knob is extremely hard to turn. This is a new machine
I have the Barista Express also with the same problem. I returned it Myers in October 2021 under warranty, and they eventually fully replaced it with a brand new machine. But it has the exact same problem - only worse!!! It is even harder to turn the steam dial!!! Will have to take it back also!! Just can't use it like this. And I'm not a woos!
New machine, bought as back up for machine several years old. When old machine kept blowing basket new seals and with guests over Easter we broke out the new machine. Took a long time to get grind close to right, timer on grinder is close to zero when the old machine was a third the way around. Now the timer on the shower head is not working, intermittently at first, now not at all.
Fault?
Fault in the timing for the extraction. Apparently a problem, the repair shop said they have a problem. $285 dollars to fix. The old machines locking mechanism for basket was worn, again familiar to them but it had done a fair amount of work. $230 odd to fix.
And it still doesn't work.
I have recently started having a problem where the machine will switch on and start up normally, grind normally and the flashing lights go solid after the heating control is complete all as normal. But then when I press either of the coffee dosing buttons, they do not respond. If I continue to mash the buttons for 30 seconds or so, it will eventually engage and continue to make the coffee as normal.
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this issue? It is the exact same behaviour for both dosing buttons.
Thanks in advance!
Maybe a fault requiring repair
I have a very old BES860, and I love love love it. I haven't had any issues with it for years, but due to the pandemic/being home all the time/drinking a lot of lattes, I can tell machine is acting up. When I used to turn the machine on, the sound it used to make upon turning on and then after purging the water for steam milk, is almost non existent. Can someone assist me with what's going on? I hope it's not going bad or an expensive fix. Coffee is my only sanity during the pandemic, and we can't afford much. Thank you!
Why not simply contact Breville?
I have a issue with the electrical cord at times. It shorts out when I move the machine against the wall. Meaning the cord presses against it and buzzes and turns the machine off. Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions?
Yes. Don’t use it as it is obviously a safety hazard and contact Breville as per your manual
Thanks. Yes, I have contacted them and they will repair it.
The steam dial on my Barista Express is becoming increasingly difficult to turn to the steam position. Sometimes it is so "sticking" that it is literally almost too difficult to turn with my hand in a normal position. Turning the dial to the hot water position does not seem to have this problem. Any help or suggestion? Breville's repair folks just said send us $180 and the machine and we will fix it. I have already done this at least twice and am reluctant to do so again for what seems like should be such an easy problem to fix. Thanks. Steve steveelrick1@yahoo.com
My new Barista Express had this exact problem with the steam dial seizing up after only one month of use. I returned it to Amazon under warrantee for a new machine and after two months of use the steam dial on it is starting to seize up too. When I want steam now, I turn the dial backwards to the hot water position first, then forwards to the steam position. I want to see if this makes it possible to turn... Calling Breville.
Replaced solenoid assy, steam is coming out of the group head because the 3-way solenoid isn't 'switching off' like I'm guessing it should when steamer is engaged. Could this be a control board issue?
I have a BES860, for about 3 years, it has now stopped pumping water through the shower head, instead letting it out into the drip tray, even though steam comes through the milk wand & the hot water outlet, have replaced broken seal in shower head, did the clean me cycle so many times, replaced water reservoir filter, still no water going through with or without the porta filler, empty or with coffee, even with the insert with the cleaning tablet in, any thoughts?
If water is not coming out (without the portafilter in), but works fine via the hot water outlet, then that helps isolate the issue.. Has it been gradually getting worse? Maybe seen as longer pour times? If so that would point to the screen inside the shower head being blocked.. which would be as expected if the cleaning cycle isnt doing a perfect job. Tiny little holes there getting blocked over time.
If it was my machine, id attempt to disassemble and clean that screen (I havent tried it yet as my machine is quite new), but its a common thing to do on a more traditional machine.. you usually have to pull it apart and soak it in a cleaning solution... if its just a dirty screen thats easy, anything else and yeah sounds like either a service or a bigger decision to be had.
Thanks for this, my husband cleaned the screen with the compressor blowing it out, then I let water run through it & it worked perfectly, we feel the next step maybe diss- assembling it to see if a hose or the like has come off, perished or the like, the machine had been working perfectly until no water through the porta filler, my husband took this off & discovered the seal had perished so a genuine Breville seal was purchased & replaced, hoping this would solve the no water problem but alas it hasn't
Actually Adso, I'm going to try your suggestion & soak the screen overnight, can't hurt, I'd rather try this rather than pull the machine apart
Just wondering what the fix was in the end as having the same issue with my BES 870. Many thanks
Unfortunately we didn't get a fix. Had to buy another machine, different brand this time though.
thanks for the response Jennie, much appreciated. Time for a change of brand for me too.
I've had a BES860 for 8 years and has worked well until recently when it started to shutdown when I pressed the one or two cup extraction buttons. If I switch it back on, it would then work. The problem seems to be getting worst and happening more frequent. It has also started happening when I attempt to grind coffee. Is this a simple fix or should I go out and buy a new machine.
Our machine is also shutting down during the coffee making process. Have you had any response or solution to your issue?
I've taken it to the service centre and am waiting to hear of the problem and cost of repairs. It could be either a solenoid or control board but nothing definite at this stage until the technician rings.
Machine repaired, there was a problem with both the solenoid and the control boards. New solenoid fitted but replacement control boards are no longer available. The repairer managed to find some second hand boards that worked.
Did the repairer replace the entire solenoid assembly or just one solenoid?
I didn't get much information other than they replaced the solenoid but the problem still occurred. They then replaced both control boards because they couldn't identify the actual cause. That's all I can tell you but the machine is still working after nine months.
Hi, we have had the Breville Barista Express for several years now. We've had a few issues but love the machine. We bought the same model for a gift, about a month ago but have been told that the grinder occasionally turns itself on, buzzes very briefly and drops a small amount of grounds. Ours has never done this. Is this a new feature? ie clearing out the grinder? Any thoughts?
Mines doing the same thing! Any solution?
I have an Barista Express which is just over 3 months old, and it seems to purge (after steaming the milk) between 150 and 250+ mils of water. This is for a single coffee shot. This to me is way too much to bring the brew temp back to default. Can someone assist?
