Breville Dual Boiler BES900 Questions & Answers
VerifiedI know how to access the error logs on the BES900, but how do I reset them? There doesn't seem to be a reset option like there is with the BES920.
My breville BES 900 XL display message 0909 .. what is that mean?
How can I reduce steam temperature on a bes900
With the bes920 you need to go to the advanced menu (press single dose and start button at same time when the machine is off. Then go through the menu. Give it a go and see if that works.
The water and steam lights are flashing continuously on the dual boiler
Turn your Hot Water/Steam Dial to the "CLOSED" position.
Check your error logs and report back any findings please :)
Hi My machine doesn't reach to 93 degrees to be ready for coffee. It heats up to Max 70 degrees and power keeps flashing. If I open the hot water then the temperature goes up for another 2 or 3 degrees and then drops again to 70. Any ideas?
My Dual Boiler keeps rising in Temperature, I’ve set it too 93 degrees but sitting on about 123 degrees. At this point it can’t be used. Help please

I have a Breville Dual Boiler BES920. What does it mean when the machine shows "busy" for aprox 3-5 seconds when I attempt the clean / descale function or even just attempt to make a coffee.
I would say it is processing information on the next step it has to perform. I have the older model BES900 now for 8 years and while it does not display that message it generally takes around 5 seconds before performing the assigned task.
I have the Dual Boiler BES920, what does it mean when the display shows "busy" for aprox 3-5 seconds when you attempt to descale / clean or simply make a coffee?
My machine works fine for the first cup but runs out of steam pressure before the second lot of milk has steamed. If I switch it off and come back to it later and try again steam pressure is back. Any ideas?
Yes, check your error logs and report back any findings for further review :)
Temperature stays at 65c to 70c. Any ideas?

Hi all, just wondering does anyone know why the machine cant go over 70 degree. It was working before this occurred. I switched off the machine and turned it back on an hour, it heats up only to 70 degree and stopped, no functions can work at all.
This is not what we would expect from the Breville BES900 Dual Boiler. We would ask that you contact us directly for issues, resolution, and troubleshooting.
Hi I have just descaled and cleaned my BES900, all is working really well again but when I switch it off using the power button on the top left the machine does not cool right down. When I push the power button on it gives me a reading of 40 degrees C. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated
How did you descale this? The BES900XL doesn't have the descale port that the later BES920XL has? :)

Dan, please contact us at askus@breville.com.au, we would like the opportunity to assist you with this issue.
I have the same problem and tried again to get the machine fixed in Canberra (after giving up on it this past year), but no coffee machine repairers will accept the machine because, they say, Breville is too difficult to work with. Apparently Breville requires repair centres to accept all their products for repair (not only coffee machines). There is now no longer an authorized Breville repairer in Australia's capital. I contacted askus@breville to ask for advice on where to get the machine repaired (as I have tried and failed) and received the following response from them (13 Nov) "Thanks for your email, however I can only give you the same replies that where given to you this time last year. Nothing has changed. Sorry we cannot assist." ... even though I clearly pointed out that what had changed was that there was now nowhere to repair the machine. This is really poor customer service. I have asked askus@breville how I can escalate the complaint. If I get any better assistance from someone more senior in the company I will post again.
I replaced the water pump and siloed valve on my breville 900bes. It’s still not working. The steam boiler it’s not heating up and the machine is not getting up to temp. It goes up to 84 degrees and then stops. Please help me?
I’ve tried unplugging and plugging into another outlet. I bought the orange and blue o-rings and I’m going to replace them all. I’m not giving up on this machine. I paid a lot of money for it and I should be able to fix it.i build jet engines for a living and I can’t get this thing working!!!! Somethings not rite.
Its likely your thermal fuse on your boiler has failed and thus no electrical current being provided to the Steam Boiler's Heating Element as a result. Check your error logs and report back please.
As soon as I turn my coffee machine on the small pump starts running and remains running most of the time. After extracting a shot it may stop, but only briefly, then it starts running again. Can't see any leaks on opening up the machine. Just recently replaced the larger pump and the solenoid and worked fine for a while.
Any hints on what may be the problem? Thank you Adam.
We are waiting for the serviceman to visit and check our machine...
Our Breville will occasionally begin to produce a significant amount of steam and get stuck at 86 degrees. We turn it off as well as turning off the power and let it rest. Sometimes when we turn it back on it will work perfectly, and at others it will continue to be stuck at 86 and pumps out a lot of steam. I have had it serviced a few times. Is it time to replace it?
Hi Kristen. When mine clapped out Product Review gave the manufacturer a chance to respond to the review score it was posted.....I got no response. The reason, this machine had a heap of ‘known’ problems.
Try a reset maybe but use it till it dies and get yourself a new machine.
The problem with domestic machines from small appliance makers is they are not designed to last or repair. Cheap components and it’s the way they make money. Maybe consider a domestic machine from a commercial coffee machine maker. Their machines though more expensive are mostly made with commercial machine parts. Thus more robust and more easily and worth the repair.
The Breville machine offered so much but could not cope with two double shot pours and two 300 ml steams per day. How bad is that?
The top fill water lid is jammed. How do I un jam it?
