Am about to do my first cook but can’t find any info on whether you need to season the hot plates and grill prior to your first cook??
No dont need to season cooking surfaces
I have just purchased the 4-burner trolley Crossray. On an initial test it was extremely hot (230C with lid closed) even with only one burner on Low. This will make 'Low and Slow' cooking impossible. I have read in some answers around this "too hot" problem that moving the burner knob(s) to a position between High and Off will reduce the heat more than the Low setting. Is this correct, and is it a smooth decrease in gas flow as you approach the Off position, or is it a single lower gas flow rate no matter where the knob is positioned?
with 1 burner on low - my crossray sits at about 160c . I have used it as a low cooker - cooked lamb roast for 4 hours and beef brisket for 6 hours. both came out good.
On NG, the minimum temp I get with one burner on low and lid closed is a constant 160c
Ross - did you ever resolve your issue about reducing temp? Was it just that yours was faulty and ran too hot?
No - it still runs hot (not sure why) and I am not game to try "low and slow" cooking. I have also found the BBQ is impossible to clean completely after even a few uses. It does do a good job of standard BBQing, although I think 2 hotplates would be better.
i have bought a tcs4pl
it is assembled
please advise if i need to do anything other than turn on gas to start cooking
You would need to assemble the trolley, put the BBQ on it and attach the side panels. It's super straight forward though by following the supplied installation manual.
Just wondering if anyone has floor stock in Perth for me to have a look at?
Hi Kim, thank you for your enquiry. There are 5 locations in WA where you can see and feel the CROSSRAY BBQ. I have listed the locations below. Bunnings - Ellenbrook Bunnings - Midland Bunnings - Innaloo Bunnings - Joondalup Bunnings - Mindarie
If you require further information, please feel free to email sales@thermofilm.com.au
Best regards,
Thanks for the help but none of them have or heard of it (its listed as a special order)
Hi Kim, Those stores will have the CROSSRAY Outdoor Kitchen Model (TC4K-08) with the 4 Burner In-Built Module. The 4 Burner in-built has the exactly the same build construction as the trolley version.
The despatched were despatched out late last year, they defiantly have the displays in the BBQ Section.
Best regards,
We are looking at purchasing a new bbq, we will be changing it to NG when we finish building our new home. But wanted to ask how the cleaning process is for the trolley mounted bbq, and has anyone brought the additional hotplate. We are concerned about flare up and bbq fires as it has happened before when cooking lamb chops, was told to sear on a hotplate first before finishing on the grill. All comments appreciated. Can you purchase the hotplate through bunnings or does it have to be through the company direct? We're in Western Australia, the isolated state......
when I turn by bbq down to low they go out, whether on 4 or 1 burner, my bbq is on NG fitted from the store, is there anything I can do to adjust gas flow
The best thing you can do is call Brandon from Crossray - he will help you with your issue!
Hi David,
Thank you for your enquiry,
Has the gas knob limiters been placed when the BBQ was converted into natural gas?
Best regards,
I'm sorry, the gas was converted in the shop before I received the bbq, what is the limiters
