It appears that the gauge is just for show... I haven't seen anywhere a response from De Long that the gauge actually works... I have been unable to make a decent long black & like many other complaints the gauge does not indicate any pressure let alone the optimal zone?

I had a similar problem and as I said in an earlier reply thought the gauge was just for show but the gauge on my machine has been replaced, but I still can't make a decent long Black. There is a design fault stopping me inserting the portafilter in and I have to scrape some of the coffee out and retamp it... This is a bitter experience having paid a considerable amount of money for a defective machine.

I have since discovered that my gauge was faulty and Delongi replaced it...but I still can't make a decent cup of coffee ??? I get a better long black from my $50 Woolworths Espressitoria machine

Also, even though the machine is less than 3 weeks old, the descaling light just came on?

and there is condensation inside the pressure dial - is this normal?
