Can I use Dulux 1 step prep (water based) on new unsealed timber sheet and then paint it with 2 coats of Weathershield maxiflex low sheen oil based paint?

Dulux
Dulux   DM

Hello Keith, Thank you for your question. It will depend on the use of and type of timber you are painting as to the best products to apply. Please do bear in mind that Weathershield is a water based product. And generally speaking Dulux 1 Step Prep and Weathershield can potentially be used together.

Am about to purchase this product, to use prior painting the exterior of a yellow brick house. It will need to be sprayed - both the primer and the top coat. Will this work easily? Is this product suitable?

Dulux
Dulux   DM

Hi Lisa, Absolutely! Dulux 1 Step Prep can be sprayed for exteriors, and you can even use the water-based for ease of cleaning up. If you are spraying in hot or cooler conditions, you can also thin this up to 10% with water to aid flow, then follow with 2-3 coats of Dulux Weathershield. If there is anything else we can help you with for your project, please don't hesitate to call us on 13 25 25 (option 2). Good luck and happy painting! - Lucy at Dulux

Hello, I had new gyprock installed on bottom half of a wall. I cleaned the gyprock with sugar soap to begin with. After sanding the mud on the horizontal and vertical joints where tape runs, I applied Dulux 1 step prep undercoat. The joints were uneven so sanded again and applied a layer of undercoat again. Once dry, the wall appears fine when looked at from front. But when you look at it from the side patterns of a shade appears. Should I continue to paint with Dulux wash and wear. Will the patterns visible from the side, disappear after paint or is some fix required? Literally applied entire 1 litre of undercoat.

Yes it is suitable for villa board. Ensure surface is clean and you stir paint very well. Recommend you use a roller . It can semi dry and become tacky very quickly.

I purchased Dulux Prepcoat 1 step Primer, Sealer and undercoat, oil based. The brush was dragging so I thinned the paint after about 5 mins it started again so thinned again. I used a brush yesterday and got very bad brush marks. So today I used a paint pad with the result that many of the little hairs have come out. I have stopped painting my outside door as I have given up and will wait for it to dry and sand it all off. I started painting at 7 am in case it was too hot yesterday only to have an even worse result today.

Is this product extremely heat sensitive i.e. is it better to use it in the winter, by the way I live in Hobart Tasmania so what I call hot is the coolest in Australia.

I have a very large tin of the other 1 step Primer, sealer and undercoat that is water based, will I have the same problems with it, is it also very heat sensitive?
