Thanks for getting back to me Kaaren. So just to confirm, the existing paint work (W&W Low Sheen) is perfectly sound, so no need for a primer coat before applying W&W Matt? Just a light sanding.

Thanks, but really no point. As I think you can see from the multiple other posts, the product really isn’t fit for purpose. Thankfully the Resene Zylone Sheen has gone on nicely without streaks. A major pain having to sand the walls, but now all done.

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. You can use Dulux Wash & Wear Semi-Gloss and Gloss as the top coat on interior doors. For bare timber, you will need to prime with Dulux 1 Step Oil. I hope this offers some assistance, and all the best with your project!

Yes if they have already been painted before Dona light sand then either low sheen or gloss works perfectly well

Hello Kristy, thank you for your question! For bathrooms, we would not recommend Wash&Wear®Matt. Due to the high levels of moisture and potential for mould we would recommend Dulux Wash&Wear® +PLUS Kitchen&Bathroom for your bathroom walls!

Hi Chris, What a great question! Yes, you would need to prime bare plywood; we recommend an oil-based primer for the best adhesion. Dulux 1Step® Oil Based Primer, Sealer & Undercoat external link  Please let this cure for 48-72 hours in optimum weather conditions (25 degrees and 50% humidity) before applying the water-based Dulux Wash&Wear®.

Aquanamel and wash n wear both won't suit a dog wash room. I would use a matt finish exterior acrylic. It will be water proof, harder wearing and importantly easily repainted and touched up.

Experience would suggest that oil based enamels are best for say double hung windows and door jambs where surfaces rub against each other, Aquanamel next best. 101 is an acrylic wall paint and softer/flexible in nature. Dulux advice above suggests doors and trim okay on the flat non-wear areas, but silent on your actual question (re. touching surfaces). Cheers

Change to a dead flat. Or if you're quick enough slap it on then lay it all off with an 11ml. Or have two people rolling keeping a wet edge

Hi there Chester! Ceilings look best with a flat/matt finish since they reflect light differently to vertical surfaces. While Dulux Wash & Wear low-sheen is suitable for ceilings, you might get a better finish with Dulux Ceiling White, which is much matter in appearance and less likely to give you patchy results. Use Dulux professional calling flat will fix the issue.

The correct answer is: Don't use Dulux Wash & Wear for any application whatsoever. Read the reviews here. Worst product on the market, Dulux should be ashamed

Hi Tracey, While this may not be the first choice for a bathroom ceiling, Dulux Wash & Wear can still be used here. Wash & Wear is designed primarily for walls and washability, whereas ceilings don't usually need this level of washability. This paint will also not have the flat finish that most ceilings have, or the anti-mould properties that our Ceiling White PLUS Kitchen & Bathroom have, so if this doesn't bother you, you can absolutely go ahead! You may need 3 coats to achieve a truly matt look, and we recommend you keep stirring the paint continuously as you go, as this will ensure your paint is evenly matt. It’s interesting as some of our low sheen looks matt in some places not others, it’s part of what makes the finish uneven and awful. We stirred our paint with a paint stirrer on the cordless drill each time we used so I know it’s not a mixing issue. We’ve concluded poor quality rubbish paint

PS as for Bunnings … we struck an honest young person who said they have lots of complaints about Dulux … just wish he’d served us when we were spending hundreds of dollars on it in the first place. Best thing about dulux was the free jellybeans for spending so much

Hi Casino, Hallways can be particularly interesting as 'glancing light' can be at play and show more reflections than other walls that are seen straight-on. To get the perfect matt finish, you can easily rectify this with another coat and a longer nap synthetic roller and a different application technique to what was used in the rest of the house. Just so we’re clear, no one has tried to contact me from dulux. I got one email from someone who said they rang, but they didn’t. Regardless there’s little point as we’re not interested in anything dulux ever again as it is serious level rubbish.

Hi Mary, For an ensuite close to the ceiling we recommend using 2-3 coats of Dulux Wash & Wear pLUS Kitchen & Bathroom - this has additional anti-mould properties, perfect for bathrooms! You can also use the classic Wash & Wear, but please keep in mind that it does not have the anti-mould additives. I just finished painting exterior of my house with Dulux weather shield and have half a 10L tin left. Can I have the color changed to 1/4 strength to paint ceiling in out door area
