I currently have the 300e tyre on my carolla, size 195/60/15. What should I get the FM800 or the 200e all dunlop?

Rescisco
Rescisco · SP Sport 01

I have the SP Sport 01 on my Corolla and am wondering why the inner water-dispersing tread can face either way. The inner >> pattern can face backwards which means the water will be captured and directed inwards rather than dispersed outwards. Also the outside grooves can point forward which would have same effect. All 4 tyres are fitted correctly with “outside” showing but two have different tread direction to to other two. Am I missing something?

Many thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill, I’m afraid I don’t really know enough about the tyres to offer advice. I would check with the place where you got your tyres fitted or any decent garage they’ll be able to offer advice.

Cheers, Steve

Is it noisy on the road?

Hi mate, not noticeably no. If I drive over any imperfections/bumps in the road I can feel them but I guess you get that with any tyres. Hope this helps.

What's the problem with the performance of this tire in the wet? Does it tend to aquaplane? Looking to get these as a replacement for my Yokohama A300's but I'm not sure of how safe these are when I'm on a wet expressway.

I do not have any problems in the wet.

I think they're OK in the wet.

I have a set of these on Camry 2006 and they are diabolical in the wet. I wonder if the tyres are different between factories, or cars. They fail to grip on braking and spin at the lights. Mine are almost new and I am getting rid of them before I write the car off.

I have had same experience in my Merc (V8) lost total confidence in this tyre put off driving in the wet as esp came on continuously. Also have found that measured shoulder to shoulder 235 x 40 they are approx 20 mm narrower than the Michelin PS 4 replacements :-)

Why does the dunlop sp sport 300 produce a humming sound between 60 and 80 kph.?

mavmarek
mavmarek

Most tyres make a humming noise at certain speeds and this is known as the 'resonant' frequency or resonant set of frequencies as it may be over a range of frequencies not just one. Tyre manufacturers usually use "pitch" blocks in the tread pattern to try and move (humming as you describe) frequencies to a different frequency range that is inaudible or less irritating to the human ear - well so they say.

So, if the same tyre is installed on 2 different cars - one car may show up different resonance frequencies due to many possible factors including tyre pressure, vehicle weight, wheel alignment, sound deadening, other vehicle noise (such as engine noise, air intake noise, exhaust noise, etc.) that may cover up the resonant frequency, wheel base length, etc.

These tyres seem to be noisy in every car and especially in the XV40 Toyota Aurion (OEM tyre).

Hi there, I'm getting tyres for my Lexus RX 350 & was just wondering if Dunlop lm 704 are good tyres size of tyres are 235/55r18 any recommendations?

soogs

I won't recommend them. They are not performance tyres. I am sure there are others better suited for your car.

I had these on my Octavia RS, possibly the worst tyres i've ever had, scare the bejuses out of me in the wet, although not too bad as a summer tyre and do wear well, I have gone back to conti's.

goodyear Assurance AG VS Dunlop SP Sport 300E, which do you think would be better for noise reduction, comfort drive and value for money?

Prashant

GPM

Hi Prashant, I don't have experience with those Goodyears so I would base my decision on what others have said about them. However, I think the Dunlops are a good all-round tyre and I would buy them again if the price comparison was good. It's just that the mileage was not so good, so value suffers a bit. Noise and comfort I had no problem with, and I felt secure driving on the Dunlops.

Hope this helps

What is a recommend Dunlop tyre for Toyota aurion 07?

grandma
grandma

Hi Peter, I am afraid I am not qualified to answer your query, my review came from outstanding performance of this tyre on my toyota. This tyre was the original tyre fitted on my Corolla and my local Beaurepaire outlet fitted the new ones. I suggest you contact either Beaurepaires or a Toyota dealer. Regards.
