Ecovacs Deebot T9+ Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: OZMO-T9+My t9 has done a map and all rooms have been mapped but I can't access some of the rooms as they are dulled out and not recognised how can I get it to recognise these rooms. To vacuum these rooms I have to pick up the unit and move it there and start it.
Hi Deb, Why rooms are greyed out: Room not properly partitioned – Sometimes DEEBOT detects a large open space as one big area and doesn’t divide it correctly into rooms. Map not saved correctly – If the robot mapped during an “exploration run” but the map wasn’t saved or updated, those areas may show but not be selectable.
Connectivity issue – If Wi-Fi dropped out during mapping, some areas may be marked but not recognized as rooms.
Temporary obstacles – Doors, furniture, or clutter during mapping might have confused the robot, causing partial recognition.
Fixes you can try 1. Enable Multi-Floor Mapping (if using it)
Check in the ECOVACS Home app → Maps → Manage Maps.
Make sure the correct map is set as the “default” and saved.
2. Merge/Split rooms manually
Open the map in the app.
Tap Edit Map → select Room Management.
If the dulled-out room is stuck to another, you may need to split the big room or merge and re-split so it gets recognized.
3. Remap problem areas
Clear obstacles (open doors, move chairs).
Send the DEEBOT to do a “Quick Mapping” run just for those rooms.
Once it redraws the space, check if it assigns them properly.
4. Update firmware & reset cache
In the app, go to More → Firmware Update.
Restart both robot and app.
Sometimes clearing app cache helps recognition.
5. Force a new full map (last resort)
If nothing works: delete the current map → remap the entire house with all doors open and pathways clear.
This usually fixes dulled-out room problems permanently.
My T9 has started going backwards in circles and is jerking I’ve cleaned to whole thing sensors included please help it worked fine yesterday when it mopped
My T9+ when i press to clean it leaves the station and does a small circle and returns to the station. I can't get it to map the floor areas. the app shows fully charged.
I think I've seen similar behavior when it had made a map in the past and I've moved the charger to a position it couldn't recognize from the old map, so it gives up after trying to locate itself. My solution was to go into the app and delete the old map, then it will know it has to create a new map.
Hi we have constructed a new house and have laminated floors in the hallway kitchen and lounge but carpets in the rooms. I am planning to buy the DEEBOT T9+ robot vacuum and mop but stressed that the floors would be damaged if the mop is way too wet.
I suggest don’t buy Ecovac Deebot, customer service is really poor and this vacuum is not that great I had issues with this machine. I would rather suggest to buy Roborock which has good reviews. I am getting Roborock for myself.
To answer your question - mops are ok and they don’t leave lot of water.
I don’t even use the mop. Not because it’s too wet but because it does such a poor job of cleaning. I just use mine to take the weight off vacuuming having inside dogs. As above, go with another better robovac
I would have to disagree as my ecovac T9+ mopping function is amazing. We have hard wood floors. No need to pay a cleaner ever again
Thank you guys for the feedback .
Hi my t9 will only clean for 5 minutes maximum and then wants to return to charge. The app indicates the t9 has 99%battery
Like some others continually getting message that driving wheel is stuck please check. There is no hair no foreign object around the big wheels. It doesn’t spin and actually dots its job Normally but I keep getting this message.
I’m not sure what you could do. Maybe try doing a new map? Otherwise maybe call them especially if under warranty
Hi did you get your machine fixed. Im currently having the same issue. They have asked me to send back. Not sure if i need to send back the docking station as well
Is there a way to turn off the mop function on the Deebot T9?
You just remove the mop attachment and put the normal attachment in it and it won’t mop just vacuum.
What cleaning solution can I use in the t9? Thank you
We just use water. You can also buy ones provided by ecovacs. But our bit has been sent back as the mopping function is faulty. :(
Is there any video about how to empty the bin for T9+
You take the bag out and throw the whole thing away. They are not re-usable. I do use it though well after it tells me to replace it as I can see it still has lots of space.
There is a user manual. But if you find the vac doesn’t empty everything into the bag at the end you can empty the vacuum. The top of the vacuum lifts up and underneath it you will see the small compartment that has what your vacuum has collected. There is a Handel and you pull it up and you can empty r the compartment. It’s recommends you clean this regularly. I find it easier to empty this compartment.
1. Is there an indicator to show when the dustbag needs replacing? 2. To end a session early, do you just tap "recharge" so it returns to the dock? Thanks
Yes there is an indicator when the dust bag is full. I let it go longer because there is still room in it when it says it’s full. Probably the co just trying to sell more bags. 2 yes, you can do it a few ways. But it’s easy to end the session manually.
1. Yes, I haven't got there yet but there is a light on the docking unit which comes on to indicate its full 2. Push and hold the power button for 3s and it ends and returns to dock but may be easier to do this on the app
Why does my T9+ not self empty. I have used it 5 times so far and not once has it emptied itself. I will give it one more go and if still not self cleaning I’m going to get my money back
Hi! I have just installed a T9+. I noticed that the map is turned. This makes it difficult to draw zones. Is there some way to manually turn the map, or is the map restricted to compass north?
No idea - mine keeps getting lost! Its a horrible system!
Hello Ecovacs, I have a T9+ and I keep getting the following error message on my mobile "The Driving Wheel is stuck. Please Check".
There is no hair on the driving wheel/s. It does not go around in circles.
It cleans in the mapped pattern perfectly, but the message keeps coming up on my phone.
Can you offer a solution please?
Kind regards, Jonnene Edgar
Hi, did you get this fixed? io have the same issue with mine. Cleans fine but wont dock at the end and i get that error.
Hi there. My house is tiles and carpet. How should the machine be configured to ensure that The machine will mop the tiles and also vac the carpet in one go?. Or Do I need to change it over?
You need to change over as it will only work around the carpets otherwise you’ll get water marks on your carpet
Does the deebot t9+ need the mop attachment taken off for it to be able to vacuum carpet? Or will go from vaccuming an mopping harder floors then once it hits carpet just vacuum?
The answer to your first question is, Yes, it does. There is a separate mop attachment and separate vaccum attachment. Just thought I would mention, if you had a media room for example that was carpeted but the hall was tiles or laminate, I'm not sure if it would detect to not enter the carpeted area when it was in mopping mode. I just have carpet in bedrooms so Im able shut the door. Not sure if you are the same so thought I better mention it. Ecovac would be able to tell you if that is an issue
Hi David, The DEEBOT T9+ is able to detect carpet and hard floors and will switch from mopping to vacuuming, all in one go. Hope that helps.
How does that happen since the t9+ has separate heads for vacuum and mopping?
ECOVACS no it doesnt! Mine avoids all of my carpeted areas and does not lift the mop - except when it gets lost then it does onto my carpet with the mop down!!
It does NOT, ecovacs. I have tried so many times thinking probably I was doing something wrong. But all I found out is I have to do it separately. The house I used to live when I bought it, was only tiles so did not know it will be an issue. I only got to know when I moved house where it's a mix of carpet and tiles.
I haven’t been able to make mine do this. Is it possible to provide any details on how this is done?
where is the laser distance setting?
Hi Charlotte, The DEEBOT T9+ uses advanced dToF technology for quick and accurate mapping. The lasers are housed in on the top of the robot underneath the slightly raised circular platform. We call this feature TrueMapping which allows it to adapt to a variety of complex environments in varied lighting. Hope that helps!
I have two German Shepherds. They shed all year round.
Question 1. Does the Ecovacs return to self-emptying station mid-clean, when bin is full?
If the answer is “No”, then what’s the point of pushing existing dirt and debris around the room until the battery expires?
Question 2. Is the dock capable of emptying the machine fully?
Again, if the answer is “No”, then why would I buy a machine that doesn’t do what it claims to do?
Most reviewers on here have negative feedback about the performance.
Those same reviewers document ‘workarounds’ for the product’s stated failings, undoubtedly to make themselves feel better about throwing $1200 down the gurgler!
I understand that too! I would probably do the same.
To conclude, does this product do what the manufacturer states it will do?
No, it doesn’t return when it’s full and I have found with dog hair (2 x labs) it does need emptying more often as the machine tends to clog if overfilled. Saying that, the quality of the clean is excellent, we tend to clean 2 rooms at a time, then send the machine back to empty.
NOPE it does NOT empty half way or properly! The wholes are TINY! You are lucky to get normal dust through them.
Hi, I have three questions:
1. Is there an option in Ecovacs t9+ to temporarily remove the main brush and just vacuum with suction alone?
and
2. Does the Ecovacs t9+ offer the option of choosing wet or dry mopping depending on what you think is needed?
and
3. Does the Ecovacs t9+ recognise and avoid things like dog poo?
Thank you
I have been using Ecovacs t9+ for the last few months , I personally won't recommend this product as it costs a lot and its not worth for that money I guess and the customer service is worst , for your questions its no for first two , not sure about the third one
Hi, my robot has now decided to totally disappear from the map has anyone else had this happen? I can see the docking Station on map but no robot. So he tries to create a new map every time he cleans and cannot return to base. It's super weird. Any tips? I've tried turning both units off for a while.
UPDATE...had to let it try and do a new map and return it to charge (several times) and eventually the robot and the charging station found each other and could reconnect and I could restore my original map. So weird and frustrating hope it doesn't happen again. But will leave this up incase anyone else has the same issues.
I have never had that problem. But one tike ive had the map showing the vaccum at a different place
It happened two time for me as well , looks like software issues
Is the pad that is used for mopping washable? Or do you have to use a new one every mop?
Hi Rachael, With this particular model we include 10 disposable microfibre mopping pads. For the most hygienic and hypoallergenic clean, we recommend disposing of the mopping pads after use. Additional mopping pads may be purchased via our retail partners including Bing Lee, Godfreys, JB Hi-Fi, and The Good Guys for less than $20 per pack. Hope this helps, The ECOVACS team.
