Hi, I purchased a 2nd hand Electrolux ELMM5250S coffee machine. The steam/hot water spout works well but the coffee spout only drips. I endeavoured to do a descaler with purchased solution. Instructions suggest that after turning on, press steam button for 3 seconds, release then turn steam knob on. The manual states that the steam button and cup button should flash alternately but only the steam button flashes. Also the manual states that when the machine is first turned on that both cup buttons should flash and when the flashing stops the machine is ready to make coffee but the cup buttons do not flash. ??????? Any light on the problem and solution would be greatly appreciated. Colin
Electrolux, AEG & Saeco no longer make the machines for Lavazza…I have spoken with Lavazza in Melbourne & told the machines are not repairable..they are cheap to replace..problem is Landfill / I won’t be buying another Lavazza Machine. SMEG now makes a machine not cheap & a new Machine named Voicy that has Alexa & an APP.
What pods
Lavazza Modo mio at coles usually $10 on special $8 or buy on ebay
Hi will this machine take Nespresso pods
No
What pods can be used in the Electrolux coffee machine
A Modi Mio Lavazza Machine only takes Lavazza Pods - I wanted to buy different Pods…checked it out - no luck
Descale instructions?
Our milk frother won't work. When we turn it on the button turns red then it flashes blue.
Any ideas?
Blue light usually means Cold froth on most machines. Red means Hot froth/milk. Have you tried holding button in for longer and waiting? Hope that works!
Hi Derek here i have trouble with the pods they don't peace both sides only use it several times. can you help? [details removed] cheers
Dont know about that problem. I think they are very well made at all. And the support from Electrolux is terrible.
Our ELM5250 has developed a problem with very slow flow from coffee spout (now very slow drip rather than previous constant regular flow) so taking ages to produce the desired quantity. Have tried running hot water/steam spout for 30 seconds to prime the water circuit but same result. Does this indicate need to perform descale or is it a symptom of a more serious fault?
Thanks
Hi Natalie. From my experience with this machine there are a couple of things that you could try to rectify this fault before biting the bullet and taking it in to a service agent. Descaling is always a good thing to do if it hasn't been done for a while, the steps for this are in your manual. The second thing is to see if the coffee pod itself has been pierced both front and back. Sometimes the machine doesn't pierce the pod all the way through and this means that the water is going in and trying to leave via the same set of holes and can create a bottleneck or blockage for the water flow. When the problem persisted we took it into the service agent and they said that there was a problem with the brew unit from memory, but please don't quote me on that. If the machine is still under warranty then best bet would be to take it to your local service agent and let them give it the once over and determine what the problem is. Btw I don't work for Electrolux.

Thanks Weeds. Tried running without a pod and same result. Turned machine upside down to get the serial number then had a last go at priming the circuit and guess what - the bloody thing came to life and worked perfectly. Only thing I can think of is it might have had an air block that cleared when I turned it over???
Hi, I had exactly the same problem and descaled the machine. Problem fixed. The manual is available free online at external link Every type of coffee machine needs regular descaling and flushing hot water through also removes trapped coffee residue.
My machines i do every time the quarterly electricity bill arrives as it is a good reminder. This machine may take 20 minutes to descale which is a lot more than flushing a little water through it. Descaling liquid is inexpensive and available at most places that sell machines. Descaling is a must.
Cheers
Ps i heart this little machine
How to descale the elm 5250
Hi Samonso

Thank you

The steps to descale the machine are in the manual that you would have received with the machine.
I've just bought this ELM5250 and followed the first use instructions. However it takes forever (about 6 minutes to get a coffee). The auto-fill function for an 325ml mug can't last long enough - holding in the button while it fills doesn't work, as at about 150ml the coffee/water stops. There is no stream of coffee/water, it's more like a slow dribble and this is a brand new machine bought three days ago - and the coffee is luke-warm, barely hot enough to enjoy. My MAP Bella makes a HOT coffee in about 2 minutes, on a cold day. I bought this machine to get Lavazza coffee, but I'm sadly unimpressed so far. I read reviews before purchasing, so it's possible I may have a dud, or there's something I can do that will improve things?
