Why is my transmit icon always in with my tx6160. Causing constant static
Better to contact Greenwich marine electronics headquarters which is in Sydney though if it's not covered by warranty it's probably not worth keeping especially due to the rechargeable battery pack as un necessary transmission could cause a shock Would recommend changing to a better brand name Uhf CB Radio or try the brand new condition version gme Uhf CB Radio like did. Using the the best one so far The gme xrs 660 though be aware the price tag is a bit more though probably worth it. Been using the gme xrs 660 without any issues for a bit more than 6 months now
Same issue as some others .. but no answers above.. batteries flashing orange on charger. Replaced 2 batteries and tried 2 chargers .. same results.. thoughts?
You're either most likely going to have to send it to the gme Sydney repairs centre or maybe even chuck the portable in the bin. Sure tempted to hurl my portable in the recycling bin
Hey, my gme tx 6100 gives off continual squelch noise no matter what channel. Charges up ok but unusable in this condition. Cannot find how to reset to factory settings anywhere thinking this may fix. Cheers.
You can contact Greenwich marine electronics Sydney and even ask one of the employee though I would recommend instead save so Can buy a better quality brand new CB radio or possibly even a used CB radio portable in better condition

Had someone replace the volume pot/switch on TX6160 now the radio has a fault and thinks the battery is always flat and make the sound like it needs charging. Battery is fine on other units.
Yeah : mine has been doing the same thing. I realised it's cheaply built in factory most likely in China. I'm going to move forward to a ICOM ic 41pro Or maybe even a Kenwood Or perhaps even a vertex standard. I would recommend doing so As well

It depends how old the rechargeable lithium ion battery cell pack is If you've charged it more than 450 times it's time to buy and fit a New battery pack
I have a GME tx 6100. The issue is that it transmits with me touching anything. As my friend tell me as we go walking in the bush. How can I fix this issue? The little radio icon flashes continuously? Is this normal??
This issue seems dangerous. It could cause actual shock which could cause both mental and physical injury so it's probably better to send to Greenwich marine electronics Sydney for repairs though I would recommend to spend more funds to possible buy and use a ICOM ic 41 Pro or something similar
Hi I have just purchased another battery pack which is doing the same as the one I am replacing, when charging red light comes on then goes to flashing amber, left on over night charged to one bar?? Chris
My gme handheld squelches randomly all the time and no1 is even talking or anything? Its like a squelch tail but dont think my model even has that feature
I sold My unit many years ago though, I've noticed that the cheaper gme units usually have a similar problems Was using plenty of different Brand name UHF cb Radios and a high majority of the times the buzzing noise usually only emits sounds when The lithium ion rechargeable battery pack is almost exhausted so I would highly recommend to buy a fit a new version battery pack before wanting to buying a new version UHF cb Radio Hands held portable
Alternatively you could try taking IT to the shop staffer gme shop but, I would advise to buy a new lithium ion battery pack first if you've charged and used the radio more than 400 to 450 Times or so
Red Light on desk charger on permanent radio on one bar will not charge been ok for one week no problems now buggered.
Hi Kym S. I have a similar issue with my new TX 6160 5W portable. It has blown fuses in the 12V ciggie charger and new fuses and charge cable make no difference. The unit goes flat in the car!! This makes the unit useless for me on outback roads. Last night coming home in rain, the red indicator light on the 12V plug in the car, got brighter and brighter until I pulled it out. The unit was dead flat.

I have the same fault. Service said it would probably cost $100 for repair. It has had very little use. Not happy.
I have now been told the GME TX6100 are vey inferior in quality. A friend had the same prob & only had them for a few months.
Our GME TX680 Hand held charging dock light is not coming on at all when plugged in, it doesn’t show either red or green. Is there any way of testing if it’s just the light that’s the problem or if it’s the charging dock itself?
my TX 3500 screen keeps going bright then dull constantly … any ideas ????
TX6150 charger shows red fixed when starting 2 charge, then after an hour or so it changes 2 amber flashing .. when I resent handheld, it shows red fixed, then ‘defaults’ 2 amber flashing ... does that sequence in both charging sockets (with or without TX .. does the same sequence with either of 2 TX in twin pack ... TX screen shows fully charged ... no green light, but it appears 2B doing the job ... any ideas as 2 what amber light is signalling?
No idea sorry, after another battery failure my unit has been sitting in the back of a cupboard for several years.

If it's not broken you probably could just wet a rag and put a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid on it with a touch of water then use a small tea towel or paper towel to get rid of residue or wetness
My radio works perfectly. However recently when charging it the light on the dock has changed from when I bought it. It used go red when putting it in the dock, when charged it went green. Now it goes constant red then after a minute it flashes red. Is there a problem with the radio, as it does the same in two docks ?. It seems to be charging OK.
Oh that just means it's making progress in the charging as it's getting closer to charging the battery as my vertex standard vx456 waterproof uhf cb radio used to do something like that / it depends if you leave it on charge and if it eventually goes green it's alright though if it never goes green after 3 to 4 hours on charge after having a low point battery there is probably something wrong with the battery charger adapter or the battery charger dock the battery sits on
