Front-wheel assembly right-hand front wheel is loose and wheel pushes up over a bump drops down has it lost a spring
Why is my Honda Bugfalo Buck 19 r1 is not catching grass?
G’day mate. I had a Buck 19 for several years and whilst it’s not the best grass catcher mower I have ever had, there’s a few things that can help. Mow dry grass as it gets clogged with wet/damp grass. Make sure the blades (2 only don’t use 4 blades), are the ones that have the ‘proper’ curve on the none cutting side (that’s throwing out the grass). Some of the non genuine replacement blades have less curve on them. Ensure the engine is running well as I am not convinced that the 4 strokes rpm quickly enough. This mower sure doesn’t like long grass so if it’s long cut it in stages to bring the height down. Trust my experience helps.
Thanks Bruce, I'll give it a try
How do I install the mulching plug - I must be a bit dim! Is there a video online?
As it uses un leaded fuel and I need to do a top up for my mower what type of oil ( or the preferred oil ) does this model take. Thanks, Geoff.
is this mower self propelled
No. Afraid not. But frankly I don’t like self propelled mowers. They are driven by belt which loses tension and belts don’t last that long.
Hi Peter. No, it's not self propelled and if I may, just a word of caution here. I bought a new self propelled Rover mower about 2 years before I bought this Honda. I found it very heavy to push when not in self propelled mode, which is why I sold it. If you have lots of trees or other reasons to stop the self propelled mode, ie. small tight spaces, I would think twice. Personally, I wouldn't go down that path unless you are young and fit. It was so heavy I had to get help to lift it into my 4WD when I bought it. This model of Honda is a very good mower, but in my opinion it should have throttle control which it does not. Good luck Peter.
What oil do I use
Well Lyn, I went the safe way and bought a liter of Honda oil, but I'm sure Mr. Google would help you find the Honda oil specifications. It's a four stroke motor so any good quality oil would be fine, for instance I have used Castrol Magnatec 10 - 40W on my cars for years, and their motors are 100%. Hope this helps, regards John.
According to manual: SAE 10W-30, API SG or higher. 0.4L.
Am using this mower for the first time What do I need to do to start the motor?
Turn the fuel flow on, if it isn't already on, push the throttle all the way forward as far as you can (this activates the choke) then pull the cord. Once the engine fires pull the throttle back midway and let it idle and warm up. I never turn my fuel off and the mower starts 1st pull 98% of the time and always on the 2nd pull if it didn't start 1st pull.
On my mower, turn fuel on (I also always leave mine on), hold the engine brake lever on the handle in, and pull the starter.
Where do the throttle cables connect on carby
From your many posts I believe you should take it to a proper service agent.
What type of spark plug & gap size
Fuel pours out when i open fuel valve
Pours out where?
You really need to describe exactly where the fuel is leaking from Is it because of a lose clamp around the value (there's one prior to the valve and one afterwards, they are spring versions) They might have come lose but more likely the hose might have developed a split after the valve (otherwise it would leak all the time)
You really need to describe in detail where the leak is happening
what quantity of oil required for reservoir
My HRU19R has recently started to stop running after about 30 seconds, let it sit and it will start to run again with pretty much full power but stops after 30 seconds or even sooner when under load. have tried draining the fuel bowl and blowing fuel line back from fuel cock. Any ideas?
My thoughts be would be the auto choke malfunctioning (if equipped) to check you can simply pull the air filter cover and filter and sight if open or closed

Choose wisely, it will last a lifetime!! Excellent home lawn mower but not commercial!!
It's an excellent mower and very reliable but it's only drawback is it's heavy. I had a Rover for 17 years and the Honda would by a good 10kgs heavier so if you want a work out and your yard is dead flat, then this is the mower for you. I'll be in the old folks home before it stops working. Also, because of the weight, when it comes time to get it serviced it's a two person job to load it into a car or ute.
what is the spark plug gap on a honda 4 stroke hru 19 lawn mower
what is the spark plug gap
I'm torn between the HRU19M2 and the HRU196M2 (yes, I know it's commercial - but the decks are identical) The HRU19 has the updated 170cc, but of the lower "C" class, not the "X" so it has more cc's but inferior in build. I don't care about engine speed control or the blade brake the HRU196 has - but the mechanism protection guards and the metal engine/exhaust cover/air filter housing etc (vs plastic everything on the HRU19) appeals. The main thing I'm torn about is that one is commercial quality and the other isn't. I've got a price match for $799 on the HRU19M@ and $1099 on the HRU196M2, so just $300 between them. Any input from HRU196M2 users? (not the M1 please)
HRU19M2
I have a HRU196M2PBUH version of the mower. It depends on how flat your yard is. The mower is commercial grade and weighs in a 44kg empty so it's heavy. Really heavy after an hour or two mowing in the sun. It's a two person job to get it in and out of the car when it needs servicing. That being said, it is incredibly reliable. Apart from the weight, I can't fault it. Probably worth the $1229 I paid for it.
Thanks for the replies. I’ve heard from a source that the 160cc engine is being changed in all commercial Honda mowers. So I’ll wait for that to happen :) That mower (if the blade brake model) is the $999 one.
