My electric throw says not to wash only spot clean but my son had a wee accident on it and spot clean is not gonna do it . What's the worst that can happen if I put it in the machine for a gentle cycle and dry it ?
I have had an Anko heated throw for 4 weeks. The heating control used to get very hot, now today on a very cold day, it is not working. I have never folded it just draped it over the back of lounge. I did wonder how strong the wires are. Do not know how to check to see if a wire is broken
Just stopped working, has only been used a couple of times. It was great for the week it worked. I have applied for a refund but you dont get to explain what happened, just send a picture? So i sent a picture of the blanket. An odd process when you dont get to give an explanantion.

Have purchased the heated throw. Which side is up? Do I place it with the fluffy side down and the side with lines/stitching in the material facing up or the reverse?
I bought a ANKO electric Over blanket two days ago from Kmart in south australia , why is the electric controller get hot after I switched the tempreture on only for a little while it gets hot, is this normal or a problem ?

How long does it take for the heated over blanket to heat up?
Not very long to heat up, but the problem I've found is that it doesn't get very warm at all, at least it's not what I expected from a heated blanket on the highest heat setting.
Hi it should only take a few minutes. If it's taking ages you might have a faulty blanket but Kmart are really good with returns for these

I bought the kmart heated throw. Isn't it meant to warm the whole blanket not just half of it. My legs are freezing yet my lap is heated. Feeling abit peeved.
I suspect you have a faulty heated rug and a possible warranty claim.

Not sure if Kmart still have stock of this Anko model, but ALDI presently have stock of the very same rug (branded as Oxford Square) and it's now about $25. The ALDI one has washing instructions, something this Kmart one prohibited. Bought one from ALDI and tempted to get another.
Is it ok for dogs
I think it's intended to be used by humans. The instructions on the Kmart rug said to only place it over the user, not underneath, so I'm not sure how you'd stop a dog from eventually lying on it. Besides the risk of a dog chewing on it and the cable, the Kmart version can't be washed, although confusingly it gives instructions on drying it.
The $35 Aldi rug (appear to be the same rug and controller with a different name) does allow the rug to be washed once the controller is unplugged. I doubt it's designed to get wet while plugged in if a pet had an accident on it.
Actually, the Kmart version CAN be washed. After my son's girlfriend spent last year's lockdown lying on mine, I washed and dried it and it works just perfectly.
Is the throw washable?
It appears to depend on which brand of (the same?) rug you buy. We now own one of each and it seems that the Kmart throw rug is exactly the same as the Anko one from ALDI. Our original Kmart Anko rug has a safety label that prohibits washing, drycleaning, bleaching, ironing and tumble drying, yet it says to dry flat. Further, the pack it came in doesn't mention it being washable at all, so I'm not sure why it needs drying :)
The matching $35 Oxford Square rug from ALDI has 'Machine Washable' on the box. The power cord/controllers unplug from both these rugs, so that bit wouldn't get wet. Apart from different safety labels and one rug being lilac and the other one grey, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart - same material, controller, plugs and size.
One explanation could be that our Kmart one was bought over a year ago and maybe they're all washable now.
Hi Julienne, thanks for your question. The instruction manual for our Heated Throws says to not wash them, but you can sponge the affected area with lukewarm neutral detergent/mild soapy solution, and then follow with sponging with clear water. Dry appropriately by laying it flat in the shade. We hope this helps!

How do I disconnect the electronic control unit from the electric power source plug? Do you have a visual description?
You need to lift the flat plastic flap that locks the blanket connection to the power cord before pulling the two items apart. This would allow the throw rug to to be washed.

With the heated throw, does the whole blanket heat up or just certain places?
It's like a regular electric blanket with wires running up and down throughout its length and full width, so warm all over - no patchy heat. Unlike a regular electric blanket, it's more flexible and quite soft to the touch.
I saw the very same blanket in Coles the other day selling for $49. Very tempted to get another one :)
How hot does it get? Mine doesn’t seem to be any where near as warm as an electric blanket.
