Hi I have a Leitner Libelle (Lucybelle) and love it but I need to have the handlebars closer to me. My seat is forward at max but my reach requires me to lean forward which is not ideal (being a senior). Leitner stated it is possible to change the handlebars (would affect folding) so now my question is: does anyone know what type of handlebars I should be looking at, any recommendations please. Shelley
I'm not sure with that one but I think you can reverse the yoke and have it facing backwards. You will have to remove the handlebars and replace them after turning the yoke around. I just checked mine and I looks as if you can do it.
Thanks for responding- does it bring the handlebars closer to seat (the current reach is too far for me)?
Hi I have just brought a like new 20inch folding Leitner bike with the 16amp battery it's 2.5years old , on flat ground it seems ok but the second I hit the slightest incline the motor cuts out and comes on for like a second here and there and it's crap I have to pedal like mad but sometimes when it works it just cruises up it with ease . It seems like it's just cutting in and out on inclines and makes it hard to ride , is this a common problem?? Help
Hi Jordan, My wife and I have 2 20" folding bikes but there only 1 month old so we have had no problems with them. 16amp battery is a wopper !!!!. You should get well over 80K distance with a battery that size. Sorry I cannot help with the cutting in and out of power, are you using the " Throttle" or the pedal assist settings ??. 1to 5. ??. Max.
We have had no problems with our Leitners....sounds like it needs a service and possibly a new battery
Hi Jordan, We are sorry to hear that your 2.5 year old folding ebike has intermittent issues on inclines. Please contact our team on sales@leitner.com.au so we can assist you further. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Leitner team
I love my new Libelle bike ..it’s totally amazing.. I am just wondering as I ride the speedometer calculates the kms done.. When I ride again it stays at what I was last on and continues to add. Is there a way to start at 0 again or is like a car speedometer?
Hi Gail, You can't reset the odometer, but you can change to the 'trip meter' mode. For instructions check your manual, or email us at sales@leitner.com.au and we will be happy to assist. Thanks!
I have just bought a second hand Leitner Libelle fold up bike, which is the exact bike I have been looking for. I know this is a silly question, but am wondering what the instructions are to to start the peddle assist and throttle. I have used it once with the peddle assist but don’t actually know how I did it. I can’t find it in the manual.
Turn on power (battery) push in red button. Next to it is throttle, turn slowly. Bike should move. Will only travell at 6km or walking pace.
Thank you :)
Hi Paula SO SORRY for this late reply, this email address is a secondary one and I don't check it regularly. I tried to send you the manual we got with our bikes but I can't send attachments on this review. If you wish to have a copy please send your email address and I will fwd a copy on. Regards Mark J

Anyone know if this bike would support a child seat on the back?
Sorry Harry, I don't know anything about child seats & haven't heard of one being fitted. That's not to say one couldn't be fitted. I suggest asking Leitner & see if they know. Best Regards, Keith in Country NSW.
Bart in regional W.A. Hi Harry, very pleased with my "Libelle" use to date has been faultless. Frame is very strong but supplied rear parcel carrier is of lighter material & I assume this is what will support the child's seat. Would ere on the side of caution here. My manual speaks of a total of 120 kg and also mentions one person capacity. I wish you well.
Hi Harry, The Libelle's rear rack is rated to carry up to 25kg. The Libelle's total weight limit is 120kg. Attaching a child seat to your rear rack would not be a recommended use of your bike, and must be done at your discretion only. I recommend discussing this with your local bike shop. Thanks! Regards, Leitner Team
Thanks for the response! Are there any of your folding bikes you can recommend that would be better suited to having a child seat fitted? The Tirol or Super T perhaps?
Hi Harry, The Tirol and the SuperT use the same rear rack with the same weight limit, and have the same total weight limit as well. There would be essentially no difference between the three models, although the SuperT's rear rack might be a little 'bouncier' due to the rear suspension. Hope that helps! Regards, Leitner Team
Control panel is losing power screen goes blank and bike stops .I have checked the connection and it looks good bike is 5 months old appreciate your help

I wont to adjust my handle bars down because its to high how do l do that
Hi Mary, You can adjust the height of your Libelle's handlebars by opening the upper quick-release lever, moving the bars to your desired height, and then closing the quick-release lever. For more information, feel free to email us at sales@leitner.com.au Regards, Leitner Team
Can I change the handlebars on my Leitner LIBELLE so that they are not so high and seemingly so far away from the seat. Can straight handlebars be added
Yes you can
Thanks, any idea where this can be done? Straight handlebars would be better
Hello David, The handlebar stem can be adjusted up and down via the level on the handle bar stem.
Feel free to email us at sales@leitner.com.aus or call us on 1300 856 725 if you have any further questions
Leitner
How can I adjust the height of the seat on mt libelle Leitner ebike. I opened quick release catch and now can't tighten it.
I had same issue. If you have a look at where the seat post goes into the frame. The "female" part has a slit/join facing toward the front. If you position the clamp so that it closes where the slit/join is ...it should be super easy. Just practice rotating the clamp around until you find the sweet spot. Goodluck
we own a caravan and looking for a easy fold up bike light weight to ride into towns and around. Looking for something with a good battery and something suitable for a male and female ( will end up getting one each) 90 and 100 kilo ..what is your best suggestion please
We love our Leitner ebikes. We also have a van and go away 4 months every year. The bikes are easy to take away. We also use them at home. Good value for the price. Hours of fun and very easy to ride.
Bought my leitner Libelle (foldup) 2 months ago. Goes up the hills really easy Im 74 kgs with just the throttle no pedalling..(on "Private land" ofcourse:-). We've taken it away in our van too. Just be mindful theives will target ebikes and most locking devices and cables are no match for their cordless grinders. I bough a Kryptonite Ulock that we fix to the drawbar of the van. You wont be disappointed with the leitners,,,and after sales advice is only a melbourne phone call away
Thanks for your help ...

I live on the Central Coast of NSW, and can easily get to Sydney or Newcastle, and I am wondering where I might be able to try out an actual Leitner Libelle before I commit to buying one. I need to be able to assemble it, and also to be able to fold and lift it into the boot of my car. Unless I can try it out on a real one, how will I be able to know. Thanks. Vivienne
Dear Vivienne, Thanks for your message. We are an online business and do not have shops or showroom for test rides. We offer a 14 days return policy, where the product must be returned in perfect condition with original packaging for the cost of the bike. Note that shipping will be at buyer's responsibility. We do have an ambassador program where volunteer Leitner customers are willing to show off their Leitner ebikes to potential customers in their area during their own time to support Leitner as a small local Australian business. Their details can be found at external link . Note that they are volunteers only and do not get pay for showing off their bikes, so we suggest to only contact them via email or text messages. If you wish to discuss more about finding the right model for you, we suggest contacting our customers service team via email at sales@leitner.com.au or via phone at 1300 856 725 Monday to Friday 9am-4:30pm Melbourne time. Hope this helps. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Leitner team
What is the best gear on a leitner libelle for flat riding
We find 4 is best for us on a flat surface
what type of tyre valve does my Libelle have, presta or schrader?
I do not know the name of the valve but it is the same as my car because I can pump the tires at a service station with no hassle.
The valve is a Schrader type valve.
can you buy a front basket for it i can not seem to find one
Check ebay. They do have baskets for bikes, but stupidly expensive for what they are.
Hi John, My bike shop in Bendigo told me it was a basket bracket on the front. So I would presume that there must be a basket to suit that mount.
My folding ebike is 3 1/2 years old. I have the biggest battery. I start riding with a fully charged battery but after approximately 20km in second speed I only have one light from the original four showing my battery charge and the bike is not as powerful ie requires more energy to push. I am worried I will run out of battery and will struggle getting home. How long is my battery life expectancy.
Not long. Get a new one.
How long can I expect my battery to last.
How long is a piece of string? my wife's bike battery is over three years old and still going strong. Secret is ... keep it charged.
Does that mean keep it on charge continuously. I charge mine after each ride and then nothing until after the next ride
I have a Leitner Berlin Cruiser & would like a battery that can take me further than 30-40 klms. im in brisbane & would like a price pls and do i need to purchase a different charger Tia
