No. And unlike other robo vacs nor does it have any sort of boundary marker, so there is no way to tell it to avoid potentially wet or problematic areas.

Mine does this too. I have ceiling-to-floor windows. The only way I was able to stop it from trying to climb up onto the ledges was to put up some folded down boxes or hard pieces of cardboard upright, against the ledges when it is cleaning and then put them away when it's done.

Hey Gabs for me its a no brainer the lg is smarter then the roomba. The roomba just goes about its work by randomly bumping into walls and your furniture so in reality it has no brain! But it will eventually clean your home but its going to take some time and for the money they want it should be smart not dumb.

The lg maps its way around your house and does the job quicker than the others also its very quite.

Another plus is that the lg has learning mode so the bot learns the layout of your home and does the job even quicker.

Even my family are really impressed with the LG and they can't believe just how thorough and systematic the bot is.

The good guys had a promotion a few months back where you could purchase a bot and if you weren't happy within 14 days of your purchase you would get a full refund.

So if they are still doing it you could try both vacs and then make your mind up but for me the clear winner is LG square.

The LG is the way to go. I've read a lot reviews about the Roomba and they all say it's very noisy. I also had a friend get Harvey Norman to run the two side by side and the Roomba was way noisier in comparison to the LG. Needless to say, he bought the LG. And as Agro pointed out, it's also very smart and learns the layout of your room. I would seriously give up my kids before I gave up my LG Roboking! :-)

Thanks for your response, I ended up buying the LG. I love it, but I have a large meals area with a big dining table in the middle. It kinda misses some of the area (not where the dining table is) and twice it's battery has run about before it could find its home station??? Also it totally missed one of my kids rooms completely..... I only got it on Thursday after the guy from Harvey Norman highly recommended the LG.

When I set the vac to go clean I make sure the chairs at the dining table are up out of the way just like when you vac manually. We have a large dinning and living area and the LG has no probs. We have the charging station under a tub chair that sits in the corner of our dinning room and the bot has no worries finding its charge station.

Make sure you have a fixed point for the charging station so the bot learns where home is.

If your still having problems ask for a replacement but I just got thinking you did get the dual eye and not the new single eye?

If its missing areas I think must be the single eye.

The dual eye model is either red or black single eye is black and grey.

Generally when I leave the house I don't lift up the chairs but separate them out a bit to make sure it can navigate around relatively cleanly without touching anything on both sides. Also make sure that you have updated to the latest firmware if it has not been done due to being on the store shelf a long time before sale, I ran mine before and after the firmware upgrades and there was a massive difference, especially for finding the base unit. A mate of mine has commented how easy it is to clean and empty the bin compared to the roomba

I have floorboards of a brown/gold colour and medium to light two tone rugs on the floor. Never really noticed a problem with getting stuck on those. As for the reason, can't say to much on why it would get stuck on dark carpets. To my mind it is assuming the transition from dark to light surfaces somehow emulates the change in brightness caused by floor suddenly dropping away (like edge detection). This would suggest that edge detectors are basic light sensors, not some form of ultra wide band sensor like on cars with reversing sensors.There may be firmware upgrades that fix any problems you have, however for the non-technically minded this might be difficult. Keep in mind your return rights if this is a concern but can't help yourself.

All I can say is that I pretty much never use the "normal" vacuum cleaner now.

I have a mix of floating timber floorboards, tiles, latte coloured carpets and a large rug in the living room which has dark patches. The Roboking seems to handle transition between all floor types without a problem. I think the above answer is probably correct about the unit assuming the change in colour from dark to light as a drop in height and the edge detector therefore goes into panic mode. However, if you're worried, you can always put your LG Roboking in the room you wish to clean and shut the door. This will prevent it from going into a different area with a different floor surface.

I have the same no issues yet.

I have not used it on polished timber but it comes with a spare brush that is softer. I have lifted the beds now so lg can clean under there to . Still think it's a great product!

I haven't noticed, but I would say the kids and the chairs have done more damage than "ruby"

Can any LG Officials reply to this?

I have a dark brown rug in my living room and I don't have any problem with the vacuum there. My dogs like to roll around on it and the vac picks up all the dog hairs nicely.

Will not work on my Black patterned rug. Will go around in Random directions and not clean the rest of the room correctly.

I have a black rug that the vacuum keeps nice and clean. However, when the sensors on the bottom get dusty the vacuum gets very confused and goes backwards and forwards or in circles. Cleaning the sensor fixes it.

It doesn't empty itself, if that's what you mean? But we certainly haven't had an issue with it becoming that full. It does an amazing job!

No auto bin, I just empty it each run which is quick and simple. There are models where the base station is large and have an empty function, but I thought they looked unattractive. Still very happy with our unit.
