Maclaren Techno XLR / XLR Elite Questions & Answers
VerifiedThe new Maclaren XLR 2018 can you open the handlebar to put your bags on?
Not sure what you mean by this question (I.e. "opening the handlebars')... you can certainly hang bags off the handlebars, but I wouldn't hang too much or the pram will tip backwards if there's no child sitting in the seat.
No you can't open it.
how to put insert back on?
What insert do you mean?
I have a rain cover for my stroller but not sure how and where do i klip the bottom to hold it down. Thanks
Hi. I am 5.4 ft tall and buying this pram (2016 version). Will this pram too tall/big for me? Please help!
Hi Jeanne, in answer to your question (hopefully!), the handlebars can be pulled up/extended for a taller person - which is one of the reasons we bought this pram (my husband and I are both pretty tall). That said, it's probably okay for someone your height if the handlebars are left in the default position. If you're not sure, my advice would be to try one out at your local baby shop first. Make sure you can push the pram comfortably and also pick it up when it's in the collapsed position (e.g. like you would when putting it in the car boot). We're pretty much ready to move ours on now, but it's still one of the best items of baby gear we've bought, if you decide to go ahead with it.
Hi Jeanne, I am about 160 cm and my husband is 175cm and we feel comfortable with this pram. However, I really agree with Maz Gun's advice to try out this pram at local baby shop to see if you feel comfortable with this pram. Good luck:)
How do I know how old my XLR is? I bought it second hand but it's like new, came with everything and I'm just curios I guess.
It should say the year on the frame some where
Have there been any faults detected with the mclarens quest stroller?
From my perspective, the buckle can be a bit cumbersome. Also the seat kinda flops down because there isn't really support across the front but all of the above is fairly minor. We've used this stroller for many many years and overseas trips and it's made life a lot easier. So invaluable if your looking for lightweight stroller for travelling or going to shops with. Not suitable for long walks or babies under 6months.
Why does the American version of the techno XLR say it has a weight capacity of 65 lbs (29.48 kg) but the Australian version has a capacity of 20kg?
from external link Until what age or weight can I used my Maclaren stroller? Maclaren strollers are designed and tested to safely transport children up to 55lbs in the USA, 20kg in Australia, and 15kg in the EU/UK. The Techno XLR is designed and tested to hold up to a 65lb (US) child. These weight limits are based on regional testing and not decided by Maclaren. Twin strollers are tested to hold up to 15 kg (UK)/55 lb (US) per seat. Most children determine at what age they no longer want to be in a stroller, so we suggest you allow your child to guide your stroller usage.
I would like to buy a sturdy travel bag for my maclaren xlr. The travel lockers look great but don't seem to be available in Australia. Is there a travel bag you would recommend for this stroller? Thanks
Sorry can't advise you. I am a minimalist of baby equipment which is why I bought the maclaran. I just use a nice carry bag to hold all my baby outing essentials and it is held by the handles!
I couldn't find a travel bag for the maclaren. I ended up buying a Mountain Buggy Nano for traveling.

Hi,
I'm wondering what the difference between the maclaren xlr and the xlr elite is?? I'm wanting to buy one but can't work out which one I'm better off with. Especially when price can be the same or dramatically different.
Thank you for showing interest in our Maclaren products. The main difference between these two units is that Maclaren have upgraded to the new Techno XLR version with some improtant improvements. It now comes with an improved reversible seat pad, improved hood tensioner with ‘stay back’ feature, improved extendable sun visor with sun reflective material, improved generously sized, water resistant all-fabric shopping basket with convenient side zip access (3KG weight limit), optimized crotch strap length, improved ergonomic aviator buckle and new one hand recline system. If you need any more information on this or any of our other products, please go to external link
Why does the elite have a lighter weight capacity (20kgs vs 30kgs)? As one of the few prams with a larger weight capacity I am now struggling to find a light weight stroller for my daughter who is over 20kgs
All strollers in Australia are only tested up to 20kgs by the Australian Safety Standards, so this is all the company's can advertise as the capacity weight limit. All countries have their own safety standards so if you look at the same stroller in the UK or USA these limits may be different due to the testing done within these countries.

What's the difference between the maclaren xlr and the xt
Hi Kelly,
The main difference between the XT and XLR is that it has a one hand recline. So you don't have to use two hands to release the seat down to sleep mode etc... My husband & I thought it was worth the extra money, works really well.
To be honest I'm not sure as I've only used the xlr
