The Hi I’m wondering if there are any feedbacks that baby drinking this formula has grown up with less allergies? Thanks
Hi there, thanks for reaching out and thinking of mumamoo! We understand how daunting it is to wade through all the information on allergies. As every baby is different, there is no data or research for any formula brand that could draw any conclusion around allergy resistance over a lifetime. There are lots of great food allergy introduction kits available on the market when it comes time to introduce solids, but with regards to formula we recommend seeking the advice of a Paediatrician who can guide you closely on what formula might be best for your baby. I hope that helps - feel free to email us on hello@mumamoo.com.au if you have any other questions- we are happy to help! Kindest, Miriam @ mumamoo.
Health claims. does this contribute to normal growth and development for a toddler?
Hi Arianna, thanks for your query! mumamoo Stage 3 is designed to be a supplementary drink that helps support growth and development together with a varied, healthy diet. Our formulation contains pre & probiotics to promote healthy digestion, and omega 3 & 6 to support normal brain and eye development. Unlike many stage 3 market leaders, mumamoo does not contain any added sugars and is free from preservatives and artificial or natural flavours. We are proudly made with 100% Australian cows milk together and contain 16 vitamins and minerals. Please reach out to me on hello@mumamoo.com.au should you have any other queries! Kindest, Miriam @ mumamoo.
Hi, My newborn has been drinking stage 1 since birth. I’m finding that the formula is too thick for the number 1 teats, but too thin for the number 2. Any recommendations?
I use Pigeon bottles and it’s been fine with all teats ☺️
Hi Stavi - and hello Madeleine - thank you so much for that helpful advice! We haven't had anyone come to us with this issue before, but my first suggestion was to suggest the Dr Browns anti-colic bottles. The wide-neck option is better suited to our scoops also. It's good to hear the Pigeon work well too. There might be a bit of trial and error involved, but you could also try a slower paced feed - stopping every 20-30 seconds the bottle is tipped downwards (creating a similar pattern as in breastfeeding) After a few seconds, tip the bottle up to allow milk to flow into the nipple again. Continue this “go-stop” method until the baby signals that it is full. I hope this helps - let us know how you go! Thanks for choosing mumamoo - we are so privileged to be part of your feeding story! Kindest, Miriam @ mumamoo x
Hi My baby 9 months old I’m switching to this for as he is not gaining weight I read positive comments about this formula. My question is he is 9 months old so should start stage 2 ????
Hi Najma, thanks for your question and for considering mumamoo. We definitely recommend speaking with your Paediatrician or GP to advise specifically on this as we can only give very general advice. Whilst mumamoo Stage 1 and Stage 2 contain the same ingredients, the levels of vitamins & minerals and protein ratios vary – this is based on nutritional needs as babies grow and to reflect changes in breastmilk through late lactation: Stage 1: Whey 60%, Casein 40% Stage 2: Whey 50%, Casein 50% The differences between Stage 1 and Stage 2 are also based on babies dietary needs and requirements as they grow - as babies are often consuming solids between 6-12 months they also receive vitamins and minerals through their food. I hope this highlights the differences between the two stages, but recommend you seek further, tailored advice to suit your baby’s unique needs. Very best of luck with your feeding journey!
Good morning! Our 6 month boy has been drinking stage 2 for 2 weeks now, but is getting quite constipated from it. Not sure if we should keep persisting as his body gets used to it? He was slowly weaned off allergy formula to mumamoo and eating some pouch/jar baby food.
Hi James, thanks for your question and we are sorry to hear your little one has been uncomfortable during their transition from an Allergy formula. The duration it takes for bubs digestive system to adapt to a new formula, together with introducing new foods, does vary for each baby. Constipation can be difficult to assess but typically refers to dry, hard, pebble like stools. If this continues or at any stage bubs is unsettled and you are concerned, we recommend you reach out to your health care professional for further advice. They can assess your babies diet and advise recommendations around a suitable feeding plan and if an allergy formula is still required. They can also further advise around the constipation and suggestions to help ease. If you have any further queries along the way please don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@mumamoo.com.au Kindest, Miriam @ mumamoo
We’ve been using Mumamoo since birth, bubs is now 5 months old. It’s been great! But now all of a sudden she’s constipated, without any change to formula and we haven’t started solids yet. Do you know why, and what we can do?
Hi there, Just wondering if there is a big difference in the stage 3 from stage 2 formula ingredients? My son just changed to stage 3 this week as he turned one and since changing has been having 8 poo’s per day, and an upset tummy. We had no problems on stage 2. Is this a common occurrence? Thank you, Jas
Hello, I’m comparing the nutrition facts of all Aussie formulas to choose the best one, and realised that Mumamoo has the highest manganese levels than any other formulas (like more than twice than the second highest). The studies support the conclusion that the elevated early life Mn exposure adversely impacts childhood cognition with particularly consistent associations with IQ. What’s the reason for such high content of Mn in your formula?
Hi Masha, Thank you for your question - we love that Australian parents are so proactive in learning about what goes into what our children consume. The amounts present in mumamoo fall within a safe range specified not just by the paediatric scientists that formulated mumamoo (over 2 years of research & development with the countries leading paediatric scientists & nutritionists), but also by the strict food standards for infant nutrition as required by law. We can reassure you that ANY infant formula available on shelf in Australia must meet stringent criteria around the usage and quantities of ingredients in infant formula (including manganese). Mumamoo has been formulated to meet all nutritional requirements for a baby 0-6 months and is proudly formulated to Australian and New Zealand Food Safety standards for your peace of mind. Unfortunately infant formula continues to be the subject of much scare-mongering throughout history yet continues to be the only safe alternative to breastmilk. We are grateful for the incredible amount of science, research and years of vigorous testing around developments in technology and specific ingredients that continuously goes into formulations to ensure they are providing optimal nutrition for our babies. Feel free to reach out to us at hello@mumamoo.com.au if you need any further reassurance over the science that has gone into our formulation. Kindest, Miriam @ mumamoo.
Is it ok to give more than 4 feeds a day to a 6 month old baby. I'm following the instructions on the can but 180ml is not enough for my baby he wanted more.. I also give him solids but he wants more milk. Is it ok to give him like 210ml milk every feed..
Hi Precious, thanks for your message! The feeding guide on the tin is a guide only, so you can give more. It would be worth checking in with your maternal health nurse or Paed to ensure - your baby is getting enough nutrients from their solid intake also. Let us know how you go - we are happy to help! Kindest, Miriam @ mumamoo x
hello, does this formula contain palm oil? i note it says vegetable oil but is this palm?
Hi there, we have recently transitioned onto mumamoo as our son was having so many tummy upsets from the previous nan formula. Which was causing sulfate smelly farts and diarrhoea poos!
One week into taking mumamoo his poo happens every 2-3 days and it timer than what we are used to. As strange as it is to compare it’s probably closer to playdoh texture. We are incorporating pro biotics in hopes that will help.
He seems happier on this formula, not straining in pain anymore. But I just wanted to know these playdoh like poos and frequency is this normal? Are others experiencing the same? Or are the daily explosive poos the ones he should be doing???
Thankyou!!
Hi Veronica, thanks for reaching out! As mothers ourselves we know how hard it is to see your little one in any discomfort. It is common to notice some changes in stools when transitioning between brands. Please keep an eye on your baby for any new symptoms and changes. Note any changes in poo, spitting up, comfort, how much they are eating or anything else you notice. It's important to call your GP or healthcare professional if there is any change at all you are worried about, and keep your notes handy as a paper record. How have you transitioned from the other brand to mumamoo? We always recommend a gradual transition (which can be anywhere from 10-14 days) as this will assist the digestive system as your little one adapts to the new formula. We also have a useful transition guide on our webpage which you may find helpful. external link Let us know how you go! Very best with your feeding journey, Miriam @ mumamoo x
How come the mumamoo formula stage 1 is so sweet to taste. I want to introduce formula to my breast fed baby who is now 4 months old. So wondering if this formula has any corn syrup or some other ingredient that gives it the sweet taste . Can anyone help?
Hi there ! My bub has been using mumamoo since transitioning from breast milk. Started on stage 1 and have just moved to stage 2 a week or so ago. I’m finding she is pooing after every single feed, or at least pushing to try and get it out. She just woke up crying and passing wind. I’m wondering if this is normal? I have only ever breast fed before this so I’m just not sure what to expect. Thanks.
My bub is on stage 1 so I am not sure about stage 2. With stage 1 my baby doesn't poo after every feed but once a day or sometimes twice a day. My baby was breastfed for 1 week only after the birth and the transition to mumamoo was very easy. I never had any issues. Sorry, can't help much with this. Hope you bub feels better soon! x
Hi Amy, thanks for reaching out & Amy - thank you for being part of our mumamoo village! Every baby is different, so we do suggest a slow transition between Stage 1 & 2 to give tummies time to adjust. We’re you able to do this? You will find this guide in our milk blog can help: external link FYI the difference between our Stage 1 and Stage 2 is in the Whey to Casein Protein Ratio and the levels of Vitamins and Minerals. Mumamoo Protein Ratio’s Stage 1: Whey 60%, Casein 40% Stage 2: Whey 50%, Casein 50% Stage 3: When 40%, Casein 60% Both breastmilk and cow’s milk include Whey and Casein protein. Whilst the ratio of Whey/Casein varies, the average ratio in breastmilk is 60% Whey and 40% Casein during early lactation. This then decreases to approximately 50% Whey and 50% Casein in late lactation. We have reflected this in our formulation.
Also the levels of vitamins and minerals vary slightly between Stage 1 and Stage 2 and this is based on babies dietary needs and requirements as they grow (babies are often consuming solids between 6-12 months so receive vitamins and minerals through their food also). It’s important to note there are no changes to the ingredients however - but little tummies are still sensitive to any changes! All mumamoo stages are formulated to Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code for your peace of mind also. Please feel free to call me on 1800 mumamoo or at hello@mumamoo.com.au if you need any further help. Very best of luck! Miriam @ mumamoo x
Thank you so much for this explanation, that's really helpful. I will try the slow transition.
Wonderful Amy - let me know how you go! Best of luck xMiriam
We had been giving our baby nan colic probiotic once a day. I note this formula includes a pre and probiotic, should we ditch the nan or is extra good?
Babe has had an upset tummy and I’m wondering if it’s the nan.
Also how long with the transition? We are at nearly a week and she’s still quite gassy and uncomfortable. I know this is a great formula and don’t regret changing to it, just feeling all the emotions at the moment thanks to premmie + colic + reflux likely.
Hi Miss Liss, thank you for reaching out - it can be a really stressful time when your bub is uncomfortable but you sound like you are doing a wonderful job doing what you can for your daughter. While mumamoo isn't a colic/reflux formula, some babies have responded well on it as it is designed to be gentle - however all babies are different and we would recommend checking in with your Paed to rule out anything else. It is very normal to experience some of what you have described during transition with some infants - 7-14 days is normal - however, given bub was premature we would advise chatting with health professional to ensure mumamoo is suitable and they can also advise on your Nan drops given mumamoo already contains a pre & probiotic. You can direct them to the Stage 1 page which has a drop down box with all the nutritional information on it. external link . Please let us know how you go and feel free reach us here at hello@mumamoo.com.au and we can assist further. Very best of luck - we are hopeful we are the right fit for you & your baby! Love, Miriam from team mumamoo x
Does formula amount after mixed with water has to be over the water amount ? Like as it says that 1scoop per 30ml, do I have to make 30ml including formula or like prepare 30ml and add 1scoop so it's like 31ml
30 mls of water and 1 scoop of formula
Thank you sm
Thanks AZammit - we love our mumamoo community. xx
Hi 수호 박, thank you so much for reaching out - as AZammit has so kindly shared - always measure the water and then add the formula. The change in volume is water displacement (a bit like when you hop in the bath and the water level goes up), but the nutritional value is measured from the first measurement (in this case, the 30ml), so it's super important to always measure the water first, then add the formula powder. Please let us know if you have any more questions! Love, team mumamoo x
I think my 6 week old has reflux, we are currently using S26 Original for him and looking at switching to Mumamoo. Has anyone switched to this formula and see an improvement in their refluxy baby?
Hi Caitlin, I think there are a few reviews on parents that have tried with success, however it's important to note that we aren't a reflux specialty formula, so you may want to check with your GP to see if we are suitable. Here are some reviews that mention reflux: https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/758e434d-428c-544c-b034-8a3a25d9689d https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/b8758a42-6709-4128-9abf-45034cf55b1c https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/e278c63c-4baf-5458-a61b-94e6cb4313f5 Please let me know if I can help further at hello@mumamoo.com.au Best of luck! Hi Caitlin, did you end up making the switch and saw a difference?
What vegetable oils are in this? It doesn’t specify
Hi Olivia, our oil blend is used to mimic the fatty acids profile in breast milk. The mumamoo oil blend: is Soy, High Oleic Sunflower, Palm & Coconut. You can read a further breakdown of why these have been chosen by our scientific paediatric nutritionists here: external link Please reach out to hello@mumamoo.com.au if I can assist with anything further! xMiriam
What about the studies that show that in infant formulas Palm oil leads to a lower fat, DHA, palmitate and calcium absorption, and bone mineralization; soft stools; and growth (weight accretion) compared to formulas without PO/POL. Physiological Impact of Palm Olein or Palm Oil in Infant Formulas: A Review of Clinical Evidence Nutrients; Basel Vol. 12, Iss. 12, (2020): 3676 as an example study there are more
Hi Hisham, Thank you for adding to the conversation - it’s great we have so many proactive parents wanting the best for their babies! Our formulation was based on experts in nutritional science to provide optimum nutrition and a complete replacement for breastmilk. As you suggest, I’m sure there is more data to support your belief around the use of Palm Oil, as is there is also data to support the safe use of it in infant formula. The reason so many formulas include it in their formulation is because it is the closest ingredient to achieve palmitic acid (PA) levels similar to those in human breastmilk which accounts for approximately a quarter of the fatty acid content of breastmilk. For your info (which you may already know!) all infant formulas, whether plant based or milk based, will have fat blends of vegetable oils to provide essential fatty acids to your baby, much like human breastmilk. mumamoo is made with ingredients that can provide a similar composition of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. This fat functions as an energy source and also helps with the absorption of vitamins and minerals. Palm oil is one of the few vegetable oils that's naturally rich in saturated fat. Most other vegetable oils are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Sustainability is core to our strategy and we only use palm oil from sustainable sources. Our supplier is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a non-profit organisation set up by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil products. All palm products must publicly commit to “No Deforestation, No Peatland Development, and No Exploitation” and have business processes in place to meet this strict level of compliance. mumamoo also contains DHA’s, prebiotics & probiotics and is formulated to strict FSANZ standards for your peace of mind. Please feel free to reach out to me on miriam@mumamoo.com.au if you have further queries, we are more than happy to help!
Hello, My baby has all the symptoms of lactose intolerance, and we got told it was the formula he is on. Do you do a lactose free formula? Or is the one you have good for all that?
Thanks x
Hi Chezade, thank you for reaching out & thinking of mumamoo. At this point we don’t have a lactose free product offering, but it is something we would like to investigate in the future. Very best with your feeding journey and finding the right fit! Please feel free to reach out to me at hello@mumamoo.com.au if we can help further. Thanks, xMiriam
Hi! Does this formula cause green poo’s? We are currently on a goats milk formula, and she is responding great to it but I hate the green poo and it’s really expensive I want to transition back to a cows milk formula and o saw mumamoo has the added probiotics like the goats milk, but I just can’t stand the green poo
Hi Chloe, thanks for reaching out! Changes in poop are normal as your baby adjusts to any different brands or stages and especially different milk types. We couldn't comment whether goats milk makes it go green though - this might be worth checking in with your Paed if you have concerns! If you do transition back to cows, we would highly recommend using our transition guide and doing so slowly & gently. Please reach out on hello@mumamoo.com.au if you have any other questions! Best of luck with your feeding journey. Kindest, team mumamoo x
Yes it causes green poo, but I think it might be the iron.
Is it okay to transition immediately? My son is really having constipation, gas and tummy ache with his current milk.
Hi Charisma, thanks for reaching out and we are sorry to hear your son is constipated - it’s hard when they’re in pain and you feel helpless. We recommend transitioning gently at all times as babies tummies are sensitive to change and this could cause further upset. Our transition guide can be found here: external link . We do recommend checking in with your Paed so they can rule out any other issues he might be having as well and they can help guide you through the transition. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us on hello@mumamoo.com.au or 1800 mumamoo Good luck with your feeding journey - you are doing a great job! Love, team mumamoo x
