The iron is clean, and has been working well. 2 days ago, at switch-on, the Auto/Off red light flashed continuously, and the iron did not heat up. No amount of movement - up/down, left-right, rotate head-over-heel, whatever makes any difference. I have checked the power connections and all are fine. (I am a qualified electrical engineer.) All of this has been repeated at intervals since, with no change. I can find no indication through your web-sight of any spare parts are available for this iron. Help, please!
Hi David, Thank you for taking your time to leave this review for us. We are very sorry to hear that you have run into this issue with your steam iron, and we would like to see how we can help here. Usually when the Calc-Clean or Decalc light of your Philips Steam Iron is blinking, it is time to descale it. May we suggest our dedicated page as a detailed guide in this process? You can find more information on this link: external link .
However, if descaling won't resolve this issue, we would still be happy to assist you further! If you could call us on 1300 363 391 (Australia), or 0800 658 224 (New Zealand) from Mondays to Saturdays: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm EST, we’d love to see how we can help you further.
Kind regards, The Philips Australia Team
Your response appears to not be relevant to my question. 1. The iron I specified was an Azur, Model number GC4856. That model does not have a 'Calc-clean' or a 'Decalc' light. My question contained the information that the flashing red light is called an 'Auto-Off' light. The User Manual for the iron (which, I note, is a general document for the GC4800 series of irons, and it includes information specifically relevant to the GC4856 model). 2. Any instruction regarding de-calc - from the User Manual or in the link provided in your response) either refers to an iron with a Calc-clean or Decalc light, or a 'Quick Calc Release' collector. The model GC4856 has none of these, and is not mentioned in the latter. 3. My question included the information that the iron does not heat up. Without a quick Calc Release collector, there appears to be no way of carrying out a 'de-calc' operation on an iron that will not heat up. Regards David
