VerifiedMy machine does not produce "crema" but more like a "turkish" coffee. Sometimes the pump stops pushing water through. Does it need cleaning?

I have had my machine for about 17 years and the milk frother doesn't build up a head of steam to froth the milk anymore.... the rest of the machine works perfectly. Any solutions to rectify this issue, this has been a really great machine
Yes I just bought my first and steam pipe wasn't working so I carefully removed it, with bottom oring then placed it in a saucepan with a tablespoon of cream of Tartar and covered it with boiling water and let it sit for an hour to descale it. Now it makes perfect Cappaccinos'.

Can I get a single wall 2 cup basket that fits my machine? Also what diameter is the basket? Standard 58mm?
Ive just been given a sunbeam cafe crema 4800 but it didnt come with a tamper... what size do i need to buy for it? i am also having trouble getting the coffee to pore correctly(ie slowly), it always has lots of water in the group handle afterwards, how many seconds should i be processing for with a double shot amount...thanks
Double shot, my personal taste is about 10 sec. Just measured the original tamper, diameter is 50mm. Enjoy! . . . . .
Don’t tamp the coffee too hard, just gently too even the surface. There shouldn’t be any water left there.
My machine has stopped working. It heats up but the pump won't start. Please advise what might be the problem?
I had the same problem. I tried to pull the machine apart but all the parts were rusty. I canned it an bought a new machine - not Sunbeam!
Is there a way to get a new group handle for EM4800C? I have a second-hand EM4800C, missing its group handle and would like to know if I can ever find the part somehow.
Hello Alisa, You can purchase the group handle from the below links: external link external link external link external link The model number for the part is: EM48102B
How often do i need to prick the cup filter? Thanks
Hi Anna Canala, Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. This model was out quite some years ago. The filter baskets may be blocked. You can try soaking them in a solution of white vinegar overnight. You may have to buy new filter baskets. Parts are available from the following online agents - please place the model number in the search engine to see a full list and photos. It pays to check the pricing and compare. external link external link external link Mr Sparky (QLD) 07 3379 5332 Kind Regards, Sunbeam.
Can you give me the sequence on milk frother where the washers fit also on the coffee making head We have had ours since 2004 a great machine used every day
Is the volt 110 or 220?
Hi Ghadah, this product is 220.
My machine doesn’t seem to be working. All the lights turn on and when I press the button to make the coffee it makes the noises that it’s doing something but no coffee comes out. The machine gets really hot and I get a burning smell. I don’t really know the mechanics of how the thing works but it seems like no water is getting through and the motor is overheating. Anyone had this happen to their machine?
My handle filter is blocked and unable to strain the coffee. How is the filter screen removed for cleaning without damage
I have a sunbeam em4800c I just was wondering what material the water tank material is made of. I.e. PVC acrylic etc?
Any suggestions would be great full
I'm sure if you called Sunbeam customer service they would be able to tell you
I am no expert on plastics or glue, but I own a hardware and sell glues, as well as having a fair amount of practical experience. I believe they use Polycarbonate Plastics on commercially available appliances. A brief search on the net says "JB Plastic Weld" was the most effective glue for plastic repairs. They warn against using super glue on acrylics. Poly carbonate is quite brittle and can crack easily under pressure. Hope this is the angle you are after.
Our machine has stopped working. The lights come on, but we turn the dial for coffee or froth and nothing happens - no noise or action. What has gone wrong?
I cannot answer your question. My humble suggestion is to contact Sunbeam (and not their service agents) directly to find out how this issue can be rectified. From my experience, manufacturers want their customers to be somehow not frustrated.
Helmut," manufacturers want their customers to be somehow not frustrated"?!? Have you den all the unanswered requests for help or information, where Sunbeam just won't reply. several pages full of desperate customers... I sure they are frustrated with this lack in customer service. Anna the tendency of the Sunbeam Cafe Crema to overheat, have water steam out of seams in the plastic housing, housing sounds inside the body, burning electrical smell... These things are dangerous . A friend's started an electrical fire, and he wasn't even using it, it was just plugged into the power socket . Luckily he was at home to stop his place from burning down.. .
how much did the em4800b retail for?
This deeps well into history these days. About eight years ago, it was $180, as far as I can remember. Probably the same as the current version now.
Hi Liz,
The RRP on the EM4800B was $209.00.

I have a new Cafe CREMA. It's my 2nd and I loved the last one. I cannot get any water to pass through the machine. The tank is seated properly. There are bubble when it is seated. I've run it for 10-20 seconds and still nothing. is there a trick or a fix for this? I'm Hoping don't have to return it.
Thank you!
Sorry, I have seen something similar happening only after seven years of moderate use of a first model of a Cafe Crema. The issue was that the only filter insert used was clogged up beyond repair. Unlikely, this would be the case with your faulty machine. Assuming this is a less superficial failure, I recommend taking advantage of the warranty.
Dear Rsrorie, Thank you for your feedback. Please remove the water tank clean around the valve, then push the tank down firmly. The first initial time of running the machine, it may take anywhere up to 5-10 minutes for the water to come out. To allow the water to go through the pipes, into the thermo block heated then dispensed, after this the water should come out instantly unless there are any air pockets internally. Should you require further clarification, please contact us on: 1300 881 861.
Kind Regards

So I have one. It was given to me about a year ago and I have really enjoyed it. However, I have noticed over the last few months that the knob turns very easily and there's just no pressure when the coffee pours out. It used to do some sort of pressure release inside the overflow tray but now the flow just stops gradually after I turn it off. As a result, the used grind no longer comes out in a "cake" form but it's just really wet and sloshy. Is this just a maintenance issue or is it time for a new machine?
I have no idea I would look in the manual to see if there is a solution. I have not experienced thus problem, sorry to be no help!
