Sunbeam Cafe Series Espresso EM7000 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi , when using my em7000, not much water comes out of the group head but ends up in the drip tray. The steam wand works fine
my sunbeam em700 hot water comes out of group head instead of spout
HI, the low-level water sensor is alarming when the water tank is full. It will only stop if I repeatedly close the tank very firmly. 1/ how do I change the sensor magnet? I've looked at the casing and cant work out how to remove any of the components? 2/ Anything else I should check first?
I am having the same issues with my EM700 being stuck in Standby Mode. My machine is only 18 months old and this has been happening on and off for the past 9 months. Each time it's happened in the past, I would just do a factory reset and it would start up but alas, that is no longer working and it is now permanently stuck in Standby Mode. Please help?
It's new, have it replaced. Australian Consumer Law (providing you're in Australia, is very strong and if you expect a product to work in a certain way then it should - A major fault means a replacement. It doesn't matter how old the machine is (even if its past the shop warranty it's still covered). If you believe it should work properly over 2 years say, then you're good to ask for a replacement within a reasonable time period. I own the em7000 - second hand - it's years old yet gives me a perfect coffee every time, ergo, I would expect a shop bought one to work for years too. Send the retailer a nice email stating that you've contacted (https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-service-you-bought/where-to-go-for-consumer-help ) state in the email that they have advised you that the store should replace a major fault; give them a time period for a reply to your request say two weeks before you put an application into the Consumer Tribunal (a friendly mediation process with the power to compel the retailer/manufacturer to replace). Good Luck PS: I've done this many times and it is very satisfying using Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
My machine won’t move from Standby mode. What should I do?
I love my EM7000 however, when I am pouring my shot the water goes straight down the back into the drip tray and not through the group head..! Without coffee in the group head the water passes through the group head normally..?? Please help..!
I Have an EM7000 The pressure gauge goes to maximum in the red, no coffee comes out. I have tried various grind grades but still happens. Machine has been cleaned and descaled. Can any one help Thanks Peter
Hi, My milk frother isn’t working properly, it doesn’t warm up therefore steam doesn’t come out of it when turned on, however water does. The rest of the machine warms up and functions properly as required. Are you able to assist me?
Probably your steam pump has gone, mine did on my 2 yr okd machine and it took 4 months of fighting to get a replacement part, Sunbeam finally shipped one but the customer service experience was appalling
I have a new Sunbeam Cafe series EM7200 and it has started to drop the pressure when extracting coffee. It is only about 4 weeks old. I have tried different grinds and it was working last week but now it won't reach the espresso mark? Also I can't make any custom settings to the machine.
Hi. Did you ever find a solution for this? Mine has never even got to the green stage with the unpressurised basket
Hi there, no I never got to the bottom of this problem, feel I ought to contact Sunbeam about it. It takes around 2-3 minutes to extract the coffee and that's just not right. Have you tried a causer grind of coffee. I did but find if I go too cause the basket is too full and won't fit under.
Hi, I have an EM7000 and when I turn on the water wand the water flows from the grouphead but nothing comes form the wand itself. I have cleaned and descaled the machine but this has not made any difference. I can't find any answers to this issue online, although the issue has been raised by other people but I still cannot find any solutions. Thanks for any help.
I have the same machine but the opposite problem, when I try to make a coffee water comes out of the water wand as well as the grouphead. And yes before anyone asks the knob for the water wand is off.
I am having trouble activating the cleaning cycle on my machine. Book says to hold in buttons 1 cup and 2 cup then press standby, I have tried this several times and nothing is happening.
Hi, my 2 cup filter basket now sits loosely in the cradle of the handle. When I go to knock out the old grinds the basket just slips out. What needs replacing? The basket? Wire? Handle? Thanks in advance

I've been running my EM7100 (same as 7000 but does pods as well) since September 2020, this is my third Sunbeam espresso machine and (so far) they've all been great. I was using a sunbeam grinder (on my second and it's about 12 months old) but it started playing up so I replaced it (with a Niche Zero). I'm now finding that with my coffee dialled in just the way I like it that I'm not getting the consistency I should from cup to cup. I need to constantly adjust the grind to get the espresso machine to deliver as I want it to. I'm using the original porta filter with VST 25gm basket. Weigh beans in and ground coffee out at ~25gm. Weigh the pour/extracted coffee so that I get (say) 40-45 grams. Excellent and the pour takes about 40-45 seconds. I had three or four coffees like this the other day and stopped weighing it as it pours and simply timed it. Next day, pressure gauge takes forever to move and when it does it goes all the way round - it seems to be trying to go further! Coffee drips through and after 20-30 seconds the dial drops back towards the green zone and coffee flows although not as it should, a little watery but OK. Instead of forty seconds for 40 grams it's more like 80-90 seconds. As I mentioned I've adjusted the grind but need to readjust at least daily. For puck prep I'm using a Precision WDT, a Pesado gravity based distributor and Normcore spring loaded tamper. Beans are sealed in air tight container. What do I try next?

This exact problem is happening with us. Think I’ve dialled in the correct grind/weight and the next day with the same settings the water just pours in through, where as the day before the pressure was on the higher end.
Did you find a fix for this?
MY EM700 is 4 years old and has been working fine. Today when I powered on, I get a constant beeping sound and the Fill Tank light flashes, although the tank is full. It is not the normal few beeps when water level is low, more like some frantic morse code. It had been giving a few false Fill Tank warnings over recent days so I guess the sensor is faulty. Any ideas on a fix?

Hi my em7000 will nut turn on. No flashing lite for warm up, and no lights on at all. I have moved PowerPoints and confirmed the supply is ok. Is there a reset button or is this a motherboard failure? This machine is less than 1 year old .

I have an EM7000 which is sometimes not reaching temperature, as in, it will turn on but will constantly be in stand by. If I switch it off at the power point and turn it on again, sometimes that will fix it. Is this a thermostat issue??

Hello. My machine is around 5 years old and has been working well. I now find that there is no coffee pressure whatsoever when I try to make a coffee. I have tried adjusting the grind but it makes no difference - the dial does not move and a very watery coffee liquid runs straight through. What can I do to fix this? Thanks

I need to replace my double filter basket. Original has developed a crack.
Can anyone confirm that a 18g VST will fit the standard sunbeam group handle?
Cheers.
Hello Grant, Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. The Café Series Espresso Machine uses a 58mm group head. Most 18g VST baskets are 58mm in diameter, however, you should ensure this before your purchase.

I have the 7000 and I can't seem to get strong coffee. I grind fine and use the 2 cup case. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step??
Hello Jane, Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. It sounds like your pour is under extracted, there are a number of possible reasons for this and solutions: 1. Beans are old or pre-ground grinds are dry - Use fresh beans and grinds. Be sure to store pre-ground grinds in an airtight container. 2. Grinds not compacted enough - Tamp more firmly. 3. Grinds too coarse - Use a finer grind coffee. 4. Uneven tamping or obstruction in the pouring spouts - Ensure coffee is tamped evenly and check there is nothing obstructing the pouring spouts. 5. Type of coffee being used - Try different brands of coffee or a darker roast.
Please try the above troubleshooting steps to perfect Café style coffee at home.
