Taubmans Tradex Questions & Answers
VerifiedCan I use over zinsser bin primer for laminate benchtops
Hi Bruce,
Zinsser bin primer is not our product. Best to discuss suitability with the manufacturer.
I have always used Taubmans Endure on walls. Is Tradex comparable? Is it scrubbable without leaving marks like Endure?
Hi Brenda, I'm a first time user of Taubmans Tradex which I used recently. You would have to check with Taubmans about its wearability. I'm very happy with the results in my home for such a reasonable cost. I doubt that Tradex will be better than Endure which is much more expensive but a first class paint.
Hi,
Tradex is a very good product. Endure is superior with washability, mould resistance and stain resistance to name a few.
I've used Taubmans Tradex Ceiling Paint on a few jobs and I've found that no matter how wet the roller is, the paint dries rough in some areas. I've had to sand down the first coat to take the rough edge off to get a better finish on the final coat. I've used different type/quality/nap rollers but to no avail. Any ideas?
Perhaps a better quality roller cover may help? I stopped using the "Paint Partner" brand of roller cover, and started using the "Unipro" brand roller covers, and my paint jobs are look better now.
Hi Mal, For a uniform finish, 3 things need to be uniform. The surface. Sand any raised imperfections to provide a smooth base. The paint. Make sure its thoroughly stirred to the bottom of the can for 5 minutes.
The application process. Use a good quality roller cover intended for water based ceiling paint. The manufacturer of the roller cover will print on the package its intended purpose. Make sure the paint is applied and laid off to a uniform finish before it dries.

Thank you for your response but all these points are implied. Done Done Done to no avail. Cheers
I use a 270mm 22mm pile for ceilings I tint my white paint to a builders white or 5B tint in 15l The paint looks white to the naked eye, the tint helps for coverage Always plan for 2 coats. You'll see what the ceiling looks like after each coat dries Just 'drown' the ceiling, you can 'run the dryer roller' over your applied section, gently On large ceilings, I'll paint from wall to half way about 3-4 metres, then go back and join the other half. Most of the time, when you look back to your work, you can clearly see the dry/wet edge. The joy of flat paint, you can roll over a miss and it will vanish. Just don't leave thick paint or edges, gently roll them through
How to thin paint for spray gun
Would Taubmans Tradex be the best choice for a ceiling?
that depends on the amount that you have to spend on paint. But whatever you do, don't use spring paint for anything ever. Taubman's is a good brand and anything from them will be good. If you have the money for it, go for it.
if i am painting an existing ceiling in decent condition will the ceiling paint cover in one coat?
One coat should be okay if you roll it extra thick. But i usually do 2 coats to get a smooth even coverage.
I’ve painted some exterior render with oil based gloss instead of acrylic. Looks awlful. Other than sanding, what can I do to go back to non gloss?
Just réprime it. But make sure the primer paint has a blocker so the oil based paint doesn't bleed/come through the new paint.
best oil based under coat to use before Taubmans water based enamel ?
I used some quick dry (Taubmans) and seriously couldn't get coverage and the coats looked really scratchy
Do not know but I would never use this again. Did not give a good finish. Using another paint for ceiling now (Brinley) I think and also a low sheen/satin finish, much better results. Good luck
Tradex full gloss enamel hi dura. Gloss is it water base?
No I don't think it was and it has been a while since I used this. I have no can to look at for you, sorry. Enjoy your painting,
Yez its water based, washing bushes and roolers is easy
