Uniden DSS 7955 Questions & Answers
VerifiedIs this phone compatible with NBN? We cannot connect it through the Telstra smart modem. There is no dial tone at all. NBN says we need to buy a new phone! Is this true?
Is the phone connected to the FXS or phone port of the modem? Is the Telstra modem VoIP configured correctly? The Uniden 7955 is working on the NBN but I don't use Telstra smart modem and not on Telstra NBN.
Thank you. It is connected to the phone port of the modem. An NBN technician (in India)ran a series of checks on the whole system and he said it was all working perfectly and the problem was with the phone.

I have used DSS 7955 on VoIP for a number of years and now on NBN (over HFC) without any problems. The range is quite good, even in a 2 story house.
Thanks for your response. My issue is that I have the base unit connected next to my Optus Sagecom 5355 smart modem and it works fine however the reception deteriorates only after moving a few metres. Experience crackling and actual dropouts during calls. The batteries have recently been changed so no issues there. Grateful if you or any member has a solution or more advice. Thanks Roy
How do I stop red lights flashing on my phone
Red light flashing usually indicate the main station have messages. The light should stop flashing after you played the messages.
No messages on phone
Hi Joy, Usually, the red light on the phone will be flashing for two reasons. There is a new message on the answering machine There is a new voicemail message on a Voicemail box that has been activated on the line by the service provider.(There are two Voicemails that they provide; Message Bank and Voicemail on Call Waiting.)
If there are no messages on your answering machine base, you will need to contact your service provider to retrieve the messages on the line.
Once this is done, the flashing light will stop, message icon will disappear and the dial tone will revert back to normal.
Can I use this as a netphone on NBN?
I have been using this phone for VoIP without any problems, but I'm on ADSL using a Billion VoIP router as I don't have NBN yet.
Is this phone NBN compatable?
is this phone dect enabled?
