Walpamur Fence Finish Pine Green Questions & Answers
Is Pine Green still available?
Coral, Sorry, I don't know , try contacting Bunnings or your paint shop. Eileen
What a useless product, I used it for my fences and it was okay. i had to buy another 10litre drum, I mixed it for 5 minutes before applying. usually it was touch try within 15 minutes, but this drum I bought is very watery. I painted sleepers at 3:30pm on 13/04/24, I went back out at 0630 on the 14/4 and it was still wet.
What was the weather like on these day and previous days ,because if it was raining or damp , the sleepers were likely damp this would make a great difference in drying time.
It has been sunny all week. And they have been on that bench for the past two weeks.
Hi there, I used spray gun to paint them on fence, but some of them went to the rendered wall of the building, how can I clean them?
I am not really sure how you can remove this product from the render maybe try wd40 as this will remove paint from some surfaces but COULD DAMAGE your render. have a chat with your supplier
Can this be used on exterior step timber treads is it durable for foot traffic
Hi Michael, ,I don't think this is suitable for steps as it will fade and be worn away with foot traffic Have you spoken to someone in the paint department of your local store ,He will recommend a good paint for you
I just painted garden beds but its way to dark how tobi remove it from the timber?
I have not needed to remove this from timber ,,,If the timber is smooth ,I can only suggest you try sanding it back and hope it works. Best of luck
Does this stick to 5o year old render precoated with sealer
Hi there , I have only ever used this on wood ,perhaps you could try it on a place that's not too obvious see how it goes, Have you been able to talk to your paint suppliers about this? as they can be very helpful as what to use. Even though the sealer has possibly worn off by now , I would ask the experts first .Good luck
how to open 10 kg container of fence stain
It is very difficult to open these cans as the seal must be broken and it is vey hard on your hands, each few centimeters need to be lifted slowly around the lid, more than once ,maybe it would be best if you can take it back to your supplier to help you , and being cold the lids are not going to bend much, Good Luck
Can I use this paint on a sea container,It's abit old and battered so I want to paint it and make it look nice. Thanks
Are you able to contact the company ?
Can i use walpamur fence finish on untreated pine timber and plywood exterior, for window protection
Basics should be on tin
Do I need to water down this paint
No need to water down this paint at all. Is already very 'thin' and may require 2x coats for satisfactory coverage. For the price this paint works OK.
I watered it down to use in the spray gun. If your are using a brush or roller you wouldn’t néed to add water
Not cost effective and you get what you pay for. I had give fence 3 coats to make it look decent. To watery dries in patches. Cost about $88 for 10 litres from Bunnings just el-cheapo paint. I usually buy Cobolts at more that twice the price for 10ltrs no complaints with it.
Do you need a primer after water blasting wooden fence palings back to original wood
Hi Helen, no I did not need to use a primer before applying the fence finish
After a good water blast, let the fence dry for a few days - or longer if you can. Then paint. The Walpamur is pretty thin, so goes on easy, but expect to do two coats for a complete finish.
Is Walpamur Fence Finish OK to apply with a spray gun similar to a Wagner
It's quite a thin paint, so it ought to be fine in a spray gun. I brushed on, and it needed two coats, over aged treated pine paling fence for full and proper coverage.
I'm searching for more information on using a sprayer and painting an old asbestos fence. It's only about 1.75m tall and about 8 meters long that I'd like to paint (the rest is behind shrubbery), as it's so ugly (gray) & is seen from our patio. I've read a few accounts of this paint doing the job (2-3 coats) and that it helps to contain the fibres. I wondered if anyone here might be able to speak to this?
Lastly, would it be similar to try to spray a heavy stain instead? I'm in WA, so not too sure if that's something carried here with all of the brick homes. I'm not originally from AU (arrived in 2007), so what I'm used to getting just isn't here for me.
Thanks for any advice!
As I am not from WA & the conditions are very different to Qld, I did a quick google search about some of the issues you raised. In brief, it appears that spraying is your best & safest method, though a 'heavier' exterior paint maybe better to seal the asbestos fibres. Ref: external link
Yeah, I thought that, too. But you're not supposed to brush, only spray. Sprayers like thin paint, so it looks like a lot of thin coats to achieve something similar.
what alternative can be used for walpamur fence paint colour doeskin
What are you trying to achieve?
walpamur fence paint colour doeskin is no longer available. can you suggest an alternative
Looks like a few of the older colours have been removed from the range though I'm surprised that a light beige/cream option isn't available, not everyone has monochrome. If you can't find old stock in a smaller hardware or Gumtree etc, you may have to rethink your colour scheme (I switched to a darker contrast, hence the experimental colours) or get an alternate fence paint & have it tinted.
Bunnings will mix any colour you like walpamur block out 10 lit best if you roll it . if you want to seal it and not worried about cost paint first with silver aluminium paint stir well while painting as metal pigments will settle on the bottom of the paint tin. This will seal anything. good luck
Is it available in any other colour?
White / Jarrah / Mission Brown / Charcoal / Ironbark / Pine Green / Heritage Green / Doeskin (cream)
Is Fence Finish Pine green still available
Bunnings is advertising it as available on their website
Does anyone here have a follow up - a couple of years later - with wear and tear? Particularly for treated pine paling fence.
I'm considering buying it, as Dulux weathershield apparently doesnt bind to Treated Pine fences.
Thanks.
The fence I painted still looks good. It has spider webs, and general dirt, but a brush and a hose and it still looks good. I've now used the same paint, but in grey, to paint sleepers around a rain garden, retaining walls and under the fence.
It looks great.
The bunnings guys tried to push me to a much more expensive paint. At the end of the day, it's on a fence. It doesnt need to look perfect, just good from a distance
Thanks !! :)
Can you buy this on the internet? There are 2 green colors - what are they called?
This may be a stupid question, but I have to ask it anyway!
I have a new tin (large) of Walpamur Mission Brown fence paint. It says it's for timber. I want to repaint the metal fascia prior to getting new guttering. I know I'll have to clean it up with a wirebrush in the electric drill to get rid of any flakey bits. I may also have to rough it up a bit with sandpaper to get the paint to stick. ?
My question is - can I use my fence paint on the metal or is there something I can add to make it into metal paint?
I'd appreciate any comment please. The good, the bad & the ugly ... well, not too ugly, please. Thanks Valma
