I purchased a new Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk in 2014 which has Yokohama Geolander SUV 245/65R17 107H tyres fitted. I only drive on major made roads and do not drive off road. I have just ticked over 50,000kms and the rear tyres are needing replacing, how many kms should I expect? I previously had an Jeep Overlander and got over 80,000kms on the first set driving under similar conditions as I am currently doing.

It seems like you've been speeding around corners too often and no it doesn't seem odd to me - if the tyres need replacing them feel free to have the store replace and balance the tyres ;however, I've found Bridgestone and Goodyear tyres to be superior to the yokahama but, it also depends on the prices of the tyres

What is the tyre pressure for a Geolandar D91 225/60/17 on a Subaru Forester AWD?

James

There should be a tyre pressure placard (label) mounted on your car - mine is mounted on the drivers door frame. This will give you the Subaru recommended pressure. I run my tyres a bit higher - eg. Recommended pressure says 190kPa in my car. I don't know about the D91, but I find with the GO12 tyre 248kPa (36psi) is more appropriate for highway driving. I drop tyre pressure down for different surfaces (gravel, sand, etc). Hope that helps.

G'day....Because I live in the tropics and do a lot of highway Ks, I kept the cold pessure at 36 pound all round (empty) and 38 in the rear when fully laden (750kg). If in doubt speak with a reputable tyre dealer for clarification.

I run 40 lbs on bitumen towing or not. Never had a problem. My tire dealer told me that a set ago.

What tyre pressure would be best for off road on 225/70/17 on snow, sand or just general 4x4

I'm thinking between 16 and 20 psi if anyone can assist me better that would be great.

I recommend 20psi and then only drop it if necessary. If you are in a light 4wd like a Suzi, lower pressures are fine.

I have a 2012 Nissan X Trail 4WD and interested in the Geolandar ATS G012 Tyres for my vehicle. Can i have your feedback on these tires currently run 225/55R/18 at present?

The Yokohama AT/S Go12 are a 70/30 on/off road all terrain tyre. They have good grip both in wet and dry situations both on the black top and on the track, and can handle any track which you would be happy to drive on in the xtrail. Confort and noise are good although as they wear down to around 25% of tread they can get a little louder. I let my rotation and alignment lapse a bit so this may have contributed to the uneven wear. In your sizes they maybe a bit expensive, it all depends on the terrain requirements you need and your budget. Other than that they stack up quite well, personally i have found i'm not getting the use offroad as i would like so next time i'll go for a H/T 90/ 10 ratio. Hope this is a help.

Hi, I have a 2012 Subaru Outback that came with GO95 225/60/17. Planning to do the western end of Gibb River Road (Fitzroy Crossing to Bell Gorge and then Cape Leveque. Should I go with the AT/S 235/65/17 (also give the car a small lift) or go with the new GO55 which is more of a road tyres and could present problems in the gravels and dirt?

Thank you for your opinion.

Everyone has a different opinion on tyres but the road tyre option no good as subject to punctures more easily. Changing to a different tyre size may be ok but can present insurance problems so would need to check or take the odds. Can you not get an AT in the standard size for your car as the lift from a slightly larger tyre will not do much on gravel type roads?

What pressure should I put in when towing a caravan

Yokohama geolander 265/60/18?

Thanks Steve

Steve, this very much depends on what you have loaded in the vehicle, what type of vehicle, and the down weight on the towbar (if any) the caravan applies. Then it also depends on what terrain, highway or off-road, and if off-road, what type of off-road? As you can see, it might have appeared to be a simple question, however it is not. Very much the "piece of string", question.

What is best size for Isuzu dmax 2011 twin cab used mainly for towing caravan over all roads?

The tyre size fitments that are legal for all ADR vehicles is printed on the tyre placard sticker, usually in the door jamb, or somewhere on the drivers side door frame. You can legally go one size larger than what the tyre placard says. Best to just drop into your local tyre shop / mechanic and ask them if you can't find it.
