issue where the descale light kept flashing, even after we descaled the machine multiple times. We contacted DeLonghi for advice and tried their suggested fix, but it didn’t resolve the problem.
Because the machine was out of warranty and the repair cost would have been higher than replacing it, we decided to buy a new one — the same model, as it was on special. Unfortunately, the same issue occurred the first time the new machine needed descaling.
This time, it was still under warranty, so we took it in for repair. The technician told us this is not an uncommon fault and that the fix may involve replacing a specific circuit inside the machine.
Overall, while this coffee machine makes great coffee and works well in general, potential buyers should be aware of this recurring descaling light problem.

espresso machine, expecting strong reliability and support. Unfortunately, the machine has had repeated issues since purchase.
It previously had to be sent to a DeLonghi recommended service centre, where it was held for close to four weeks. It later developed further faults and was sent to another DeLonghi recommended service centre on 28 April.
Multiple parts have since been replaced, including the safety valve, solenoid valve and expansion chamber, but the general alarm fault still could not be resolved. DeLonghi’s own technical team was also involved, but the issue remained unresolved. It's now close to the end of June.
DeLonghi offered 40% off another machine. I did not consider this fair, as it still required me to pay most of the cost of replacing a premium machine that has had repeated faults and could not be repaired through their recommended service network.
After I pushed back, DeLonghi declined to provide a replacement, refurbished replacement, or meaningful refund/credit. They instead offered to cover the service cost and order yet another part to attempt another repair.
After being without the machine since 28 April, and after several parts have already been replaced without fixing the issue, I found this response very poor.
Based on my experience, I would recommend avoiding DeLonghi coffee machines, especially if after-sales support and fair customer service are important to you.

I'm impressed with this machine. The coffee is excellent. $200 less than a Breville. I also love the retro colour, green. Been using it a month so far. I previously had a Breville that lasted 5 years.

makes a great light froth, and I find I only have to de scale about every 5-6 months, making min 1 coffee per day. I am fussy , to only use filtered water, as directed Its a little involved as a process, but i assume all machines are primarily the same. For $220, It has paid for itself easily over the last 3 years., as I dont buy half the coffees i use to. I de scale with vinegar, and that works fine, and the machine is running like I just got it

tamper. Great educational videos available online. Cheaper than a double boiler so good for home use. Makes my morning coffee before work quickly and easily. We dont buy take out coffee now. Bought 2022, no issues. Warnings: Takes a while to learn how to use it, this is not an automatic machine. Grind needs adjustments with new types of beans. A lot of periodic cleaning requirements with detailed instructions to follow - lights go on to tell you when to do it. Ongoing need to purchase descaler solution and cleaning tablets.

and kept clogging, plus a couple of Sunbeam prior, it's a great relief. For similar cost this machine is more robust and the single wall basket has never clogged. Nice compact design for our small kitchen and well priced. It took a bit of time to work out how to use, but once we did and set up to suit us, we didn't look back. It does 'ask' to be descaled often and the Delongi brand Ecocalk is expensive, but we haven't risked using a different type. Overall very happy.

machine we had but the basic Arte was out of stock, the only difference being this does a cold brew. Compared with the previous model - extra steps in the process. Where the old model had a built in tamper and the group handle went straight under the grinder, now you attach a guide, get the coffee, remove, place it on a rubber mat/stand, then use a separate tamper to tamp the coffee. Overall an extra 4 or 5 steps just to get the coffee dose and to tamp - the cold brew is a great feature if you’re patient. It takes a long time and my husband (who makes an iced coffee most days) said after the first go he won’t be using that feature but will instead stick to the old process - ice and milk in a cup, add the hot coffee shot. So still a good machine but if you had the old version with built in tamper then the extra steps are a bit of a process and results in a lot more coffee grinds spillage and mess. We had to have 3 repairs on the old one (only one was within warranty) and it lasted 5 years and 5 months before the pressure died so we’ll see if this one lasts longer.

Stay away inherent reoccurring issue. Onto my 3rd unit! Even at 2 weeks old Delonghi will only repair not replace – I'm now on my third EC905m. All work very well for about a month of daily use (though one only lasted 2 weeks) and then all died of the same issue… Read more
being not enough pressure to push the water through the grind. A small fix purely so I could actually get a coffee whist waiting for replacement ( and granted not really a fix ) was to stop using the double wall cups for the coffee arm and to use the single wall cups.. Even this after a month stopped working meaning that the unit will continue to lose pressure from the day you buy it. They are obviously tested at a certain pressure rating but no long term use test is available. Being that im onto my 3rd unit with same issue I would say its a complete lemon this model and stay away.

by the manufacturer. Setting the machine up was a breeze. The tamper is designed to communicate with the user and then the machine to ensure the correct coffee dose is delivered. Quick and accurate. The auto milk frothing can be adjusted for both temperature and froth level. It cleans the milk probe when complete. Quality beans ensure good doses with very nice crema. Auto milk frothing is at an acceptable standard but manual gives a better result. The machine that this one replaced gives a better result in milk frothing but that machine's draw backs far outweigh that single advantage. The machine gives a consistent output of very high-quality coffee (the beans you use are as important as the machine). Very easy to set up - very easy! Would like to be able to disassemble the grinder for a better standard of maintenance but the coffee we drink every morning is good!!

100% perfect, then the shot will fail - all the lights will flash and then go out, then the steam wand light will come on solid - and the only way to try again is to discard about half a jug of water through the steam wand - then the light will go out and you can try again - but there is a good chance you will get the same result. This is our third DeLonghi machine - the previous two have been great (apart from the odd descaling issue) but this one is complete rubbish. I contacted DeLonghi shotly after purchase and they simply referred me to their repair centres - none near us in the Grampians. We eventually returned the machine to Myers, where we bought it. Myers have a policy of unconditional return within 30 days of purchase, but as it had been 33 days, they refused and the machine has been returned by them to DeLonghi.
