Our Analon knife has a flaw half way along the blade and no matter how we sharpen it, the little serrations/small gouges stay there. It’s like there’s a flaw in the steel in that section.

Our handles get oily/sticky if not used often. When we use them on a daily basis we hand wash them and stow in block. We were hoping the oily residue would eventually stop but we have had the set for 12 years and they continue to get oily and sticky handles. What is your recommendation other than washing them before use?

Glenn C.
Glenn C.

I put mine in the dishwasher which I know is supposed to be a no-no but I keep them separated laying flat and i have never had an issue with sticky handles or damage/bluntness in any way, hope that helps

I have a knife block which is 10 years old. The large knife handle has become loose . Can it be fixed?

Mike
Mike

Depends on what type of handle you have. Our handles are the weird rubbery plastic things that break down and feel sticky and oily. They don't come loose. Our knives are about 25 years old.

Yes we have the same, the rubber handle has come loose on the stainless steel knife base

Why are you still selling the same type of handle on the knives after all these BAD reviews and you haven't had the decency to answer anybody???? Its 2021 and i was gifted a set several years ago and yes, mine go oily too. I dont even own a dishwasher. So you cant blame it on that, as you have done with others. Can someone please explain why they go oily. And why are you still selling that type of material on the handle if you have had hundres of complaints about it...?

Glenn C.
Glenn C.

I’m not sure if they have changed the handle material but I have owned a set for 9 years now and regularly put them in the dishwasher and they haven’t got oily? Or deteriorated in any way? I can’t understand what all the bad press is about? Mine are still like new and I occasionally touch them up on the stone. I’m more than happy with the quality for what I paid. If you want to spend $700 dollars on a top German set go for it.

Hi Sharon, Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the performance of this product. We recommend using a grease-cutting detergent and very hot water to thoroughly clean the handles of your knives to remove any build up of grime, likely to be causing this issue.

Alternatively, you can make a thick paste with baking soda and apply to the handle, let dry and then wash with detergent and hot water.

If you require further assistance you can contact our Customer Care team here external link  or you can phone 1800 351 565.

Kind Regards, The Anolon Team

I have the knife block 6 knives with scissors and they have become very blunt. I have used the analon knife sharpener but it does not work. What do you recommend. I’m very disappointed. Also some of the handles are becoming sticky and I was them with soapy water. I really do look after my knives. Help.

Mogin

Re sharpening I’ve answered this in your other post. The sharpener is excellent and I use it on all of our knives.

As for sticky handle, the only thing I know that can cause this is putting them in dishwasher. Don’t know how you fix it.

Libby
Libby

I never ever put any knives or pots in my dishwasher. Always handwash them . Have you got any other suggestions that may help me.

Going back to sharpening take a photo of the sharpener you use so I can compare

I have the complete set of knives 6 and scissors in a block. Some of the knives are very blunt. I have purchased the Anolon knife sharpener but it doesn’t work. How do I make my knives sharp again.

Mogin
Mogin

The Analon sharpener is excellent but it’s possible to use it wrong. I use it on all our knives with excellent results. Only ever sharpen in ONE direction ie don’t shove it back and forth through the stones. Pull it through only. This is a general fact about sharpening, only one direction, ever. If you do it in both directions, you blunt your knife.

Have water in it. Fill it to the edge of the black plastic with water. Work from rough to fine. Three good pulls each stone. Make sure the clear plastic guide is in place as it makes sure the blade is going into the stones at a slight angle.

Libby
Libby

I have done exactly that no luck

Yes, my handles have become very sticky indeed. I am going to try Baking soda as reccommended.

Pieeater

Yes my knife also has the same problem, tried cleaning it with everything from soapy water to eucalyptus oil, it still comes back, must be a fault with the material the handle is made of. Makes the knife useless because the oily residue has an odour, hope it is not toxic.

How do you look after the handle?

Ours are getting a bit sticky.

Mogin

Just wash ours as normal. Pretty sure the dishwasher is out of the question but I've not had sticky handles at all.

Ours handles are doing the same thing. Getting sticky and deteriorating. NEVER been in the dishwasher. Always washed by hand in hot soapy water. Our knives are at least 4 years old. I am going to contact Anolon directly regarding this.

Has anyone had a problem with the handle falling apart?

Mogin
Mogin

No but I was warned that they are not dishwasher safe and the likely effect would be the handle falling apart.
