I often sit on the edge of the bed either to watch some TV or to change into my shoes, etc., and therefore I need the sides and ends to be highly supportive and not just compress easily. How is this mattress in this respect?

Hi ssmith, Unfortunately this mattress offers no support at all around the edges, in fact I have slipped off it on a couple of occasions when I have sat on the edge to put my shoes n socks on!

Unfortunately beds are made for sleeping on.... not sitting on. Once upon a time some brands were able to be purchased with edge support but not sure if anyone is doing this anymore.

on a scale of 1 - 10, how firm it is?

Liana
Liana

Hi T.T

So if 1 is really, really soft and 10 is really hard I’d put it about a 7.

I have issues with my back and I find it very comfortable, I like the extra support it gives me but my boyfriend finds it too hard.

It’s a nice firm mattress for me - I weigh around 65 kilos - I’d rate it around an 8. Hope this helps

What is the cost of the Ergopedic Latex Pocket Spring Foam Mattress? I have been quoted $3500

Hi, I purchased mine on Kogan for around $350 for a queen size - there are a few online stores that will do it around that price but I have found Kogan very easy to deal with and they are very reputable. I most certainly wouldn’t pay $3500.

I got mine on Kogan too

Has anyone purchased this mattress for a toddler? My son is almost 3 and I am needing to purchase a single mattress and found really good reviews on this but also read that latex wasn’t good for growing bodies? Please help!

Liz R
Liz R

Hi Evieee, Not sure where you got the information from but according to my colleagues (I work in one of Vicotoria’s Largest hospitals), there is no scientific evidence of this. Like almost anything, some people are allergic to latex - which is different to this being bad for you.

I think you’ll find this statement extends from early manufactured latex products - some of which were found to be toxic. Europe has a certification for latex bedding products and most if not all Australian manufacturers follow this standard. I have had this mattress for over a year with no negative side effects - and trust me if there’s an allergy to be had, my body has it - I can’t even use basic off-the-shelf soap... nonetheless, I understand your concern and would suggest contacting the manufacturer and asking the question directly. A manufacturer who has nothing to hide will provide whatever information is requested of them - once you have the reply, trust your gut.

I hope this helps, and again, I as a mum myself, I do understand where you’re coming from.

All the best,

Liz

What are the springs made of? Please.

Liana
Liana

Hello Lesley, My mattress is made with pocket springs as opposed to the open coil. I think mine has 792 springs, the higher the spring count the greater the support, they range from 600 to 5,000. The benefit of having the springs in their individual pockets is that when two people are lying on the bed you don’t get the roll together or the dip in the middle. The main disadvantage is that they tend to be heavier to turn.

A pocket spring mattress can last between 7 to 10 yrs whereas an open coil mattress generally lasts 3 to 5 yrs.

I am still really happy with my purchase and will definitely buy the same again when this one needs replacing.

I hope this helps.

Hi Lesley, I had a quick look to see if I could find a reference for you - essentially the pocket springs - also referred to as pocket coils, are made of tempered steel and will vary in size depending on the ‘zon within the mattress. The Royal Comfort egopedic mattress is a five zone pocket coil mattress which, according to various bedding retailers, is one of the best configurations for overall comfort and support.

I found the following article to be the most helpful and reliable external link  And strongly recommend having a read of their short but very informative article to understand this technology a little better. I have been sleeping soundly on my Royal Comfort mattress for over a year now and love it just as much as the first day I slept on it. It has retained its shape and support - this was my 4th mattress in under two years- the most expensive one - a seally’s posturepedic, sagged beyond recognition within 5 months and they do not take them back as that is not considered a manufacturing fault. Royal Comfort have been excellent to deal with, and I have no hesitation in recommending this brand and this particular mattress.

Hi there, Gayle :) Is this mattress still holding up well for you almost a year later? I'm yet to find any negative reviews, so I'm hopeful that it's a goodie! Kind regards, Michelle

Ive had to be in contact with supplier and receive an alternative replacement

After a couple of weeks, sag in middle, corners down that should’ve went in shape upon being unpacked.

Did not maintain firmness

Hi Gaye I was just wondering if you're still happy with this mattress six months down the track & if it has lost any support in that time.

Thanks, Karen

Gayle
Gayle

Hi Karen, it has slightly lost support, which means it's a bit firmer down the centre of the bed, but overall I'm still happy with my purchase. Unfortunately hubby doesn't like it as much as I do, but that doesn't surprise me as we've never liked the same mattress! I've definitely concluded that king size mattresses have the middle problem, we've purchased many over the years! I hope this has helped you.

Regards,

Gayle.

Hi Gayle

Im at my wits end with choosing a mattress and have narrowed it down to a few. After speaking to different friends regarding a latex mattress they do say the comfort is really good BUT most agree they are too hot to sleep in. My hubby is a large man and gets very warm at night as do l and get very restless if l do. Do you think the mattress is too hot to sleep in??

Kind Regards

Lee

My hubby doesnt find it too hot, but because of my age and hot flushes it's hard for me to say! We had a latex, it was definitely hotter than this one!
