Giant Explore E+ Questions & Answers
Giant explore. Had it 3 weeks. Very comfy BUT I bought it as i regularly ride 70 to 100km. First big ride on levels 1 and 2 (eco and tour) and it ran outa juice at 85km. Unimpressed. Its in for a checkup. To all peospective buyers - test it out on a long ride early cause mine used more than 1% battery per km. Have others had similar issues??
I bought two rechargers for that reason - the batteries are good but realistically only great for 50km. They put all the power down for hill climbing. Remember it’s a pretty heavy bike. So I had a charger at work and at home
I haven’t had that problem. I can certainly ride 100km on my bike without a problem even with a two year old battery. That being said very hilly terrain might reduce the range. Perhaps you should ask the giant store to test your battery. If it’s faulty they should replace it.
Bike is in the shop now. They are doing diagonostics on the battery. My ride was on fairly flat sealed surface with no wind etc. I was disappointed cause i enjoy bike touring with gear so need to ensure i can get at least 100km with a lightish load. Thx for your reply. Will let you know outcome when i get it back.
I wonder if you have the same battery as mine. Details of my battery are 496wh, capacity 13800, 36v lithium-ion
621Wh min 581 Capacity 17250mAh. 102km today on level 2 (tour) and finished with 4% remaining, No big hills. Sealed surface. Coasting on down inclines. Av sp 24km/hr. On levels 1, 2 and 3 its all pretty much 1km per 1%. and this is the second battery as they replaced the first after 3 weeks
I am not a new cyclist. Riden non powered bike 30000km through USA, Europe and Australia.
Its all very well having two batteries BUT Giant advertise it as getting you 181km on level 1, 161km on level 2 and 130km on level 3. Not really fussed about levels 4 and 5. I bought Explore E specifically because of the distances they advertised. Otherwise an increadibly comfortable ride and throughly enjoy riding it. Just wish these companies would be HONEST with us.
How are the Giant ebikes going a few months on??
No issues with the bike . Software doesn’t work properly. Using my iPhone , it won’t sync and sometimes freezes . But the bike itself is great
Thanks for that. I'm not an iphone user so no probs for me there.
