Where can I find the HBF Pharmacy Schedule so i can i see if my Daughters medication is on there as the chemist has given me a receipt to put in a claim

1 answer
HBF
HBF T.HBF

Hi Colin, thanks so much for getting in touch and I can definitley help with this.

The HBF Pharmacy Schedule is a database you can access prior to a pharmaceutical purchase by giving us a call on 133 423. We will cross-check the active ingredient of your daughter's medication against this list and confirm whether we are able to provide a benefit as part of your Pharmacy level of cover.

If you have already purchased the item, the easiest way to determine your benefit is by submitting a claim. You are able to do this through MyHBF, in a branch or through the post. If the claims process is new to you and you would like some further information, please get in touch with us and we will be happy to run you through the process.

I hope this helps. We look forward to hearing from you soon and have a lovely rest of your day.

Best Regards,
Kaila

Been with HBF 27 years approximately and other than glasses/ dental never had to claim hospital cover ect
My question is at present I need to see a specialist and the outcome may be I need surgery
This is not voluntary by me it’s a necessary fact (we have heathy savers twin pk )
We now find out you have to tee up a HBF specialist and not sure what the next thing will be
To potentially do surgery and what is covered and what is not
Our doctor asked if we have health insurance and he gave us a name
Not on list so hence the question where do you get a list of specialists and hospitals that make it a easier way forward

hello why does it say dental surgery is covered on basic and all other policy it says wisdom teeth removal and I go to claim it and they say u don't have extra dental cover so your surgery isn't covered..it clearly says on the website dental surgery tick wisdom teeth doesn't say r tick but two pages over it says some items about only going to cover hospital why are u not have the right stuff on the policy

1 answer
HBF
HBF T.HBF

Hi Angela, with our hospital products, we can only pay benefits on medical procedures that are listed on your policy and have a Medicare Benefit Item code (MBS). Some dental surgeries are not claimable through Medicare, so we can only pay on the hospital stay and not the dental surgeon's fees. If you hold an extra's policy with General Dental, we can then pay a benefit towards the dentist fees.

If you would like us to look into your recent experience can you please contact us on 133 423 or by emailing memberservices@hbf.com.au

We have been trying to transfer to HBF as joint members from 2 other individual health funds that we were with we obtained the clearance personelly as well as them been sent through to hbf immediately HBF AT JOONDALUP kept telling us they didnt have them despite days later when we hand delivered hard copies they then had another look and found they had been in their system all the time
the first consultant we initially spoke with put the wrong surname on my P&N CLAIM FOR 6 MTH DIRECT DEBIT PAYMENTS it was rejected
we went to bank and p&n confirmed the rejection so we went back to hbf and a person tryed to tell me i had insufficient funds which was insulting
we then went through the whole joining proceedure again with the now 4th c s person and was assured all was good to go we waited and nothing happened so we went back in to Joondalup and another the 5th c s person went tbrough all the detail found the previous c s person hadnt done what she claimed
this preson the 6th c s p advised it was all in order and the adjusted amount would be taken out of my bank account in 3-5 days this never happened so i made a phone call this been the 7th c s person she went over all the details and advised the adjusted amount would be deducted from my P&N ACCOUNT in 3-5 working days
we have been away for easter and came back on tuesday 23/4/19 nothing had happened it is now saturday 27/4/19
And i just checked my p&n acct the amount for the 6 month direct debit period payment still has not been taken for hbf health cover
our first approach was at the Joondalup office of HBF on the 27/3/19
We are totally dissolussioned by the un-proffessional customer service of hbf at the Joondalup office
we are seriously considering cancelling our application to join the worst run company we have ever experienced
as seniors can you give us a hard core answer about what the hell is going on we have supplied all the correct imformation from day one and the staff at joondalup have continued cause problems despite asuuring us each time that everthing is fixed?blah ! blah !
Its about time in our honest opinions that a good hard look needs to be taken into the way joondalup hbf office is been conducted by the senior management of HBF head office and stop suggesting that the customer has insufficient funds or we havent supplied required imformation
Can you please reply asap and give us the service we have tryed to get if thats at all possible barry w tilbrook assumed member numbers [number removed] and Sylvia M WILLS [number removed]
if we cant get satisfaction by pm monday 29/4/19 we will have no hesitation in going back to another health fund because this has been
far too rediculous to comprehend from a so called proffessional organisation

HBF are excellent at feigning support. Wait until they pull the rug from under your feet! sorry, you are not covered!

They pay a unnamed doctor (they refer to this ghost in the shadows as an independent referee) to write reports contrary to your medical advice and history to weasel their way out of their obligated cover.

Does hbf health cover a breast enlargement job if it’s depremental to health casing angziety stress and depression?

1 answer
crystadeline
crystadeline

no, that's not up to HBF it's up to Medicare. If a surgeon would put a case forward to medicare then the rule goes if medicare pay on a item number then health funds will. there is no MBS item for a breast enlargement only for a reconstruction following mastectomy after breast cancer.

I have been with HBF for more than 20 years and had a family policy covering 2 adults and a dependent for more than 10. I recently changed to a single parent policy and all this saves me is $20/month.
Looking at other health insurers I can get a policy with similar cover for almost $100/month less. Seriously considering changing cover.
I have been a loyal customer and have household and car insurance as well.
This doesn't seem right.
Is there anything that HBF will do to provide a better deal?

If you have the wellness program option in your extra policy then it’s 100% rebate up to $350. On the side note. What vaccination did you get that cost $300? I bought typhoid and hepatitis A from chemist warehouse, went to local GP which bulk billed. Cost me $125 each. Plus $38 for anti malaria tablets.

Would you provide clear documentation on the Saviflexi Extras option? Are you able to choose 4 items to be covered initially and then change them 2 months later, if you decide you want to use another service? Thanks for your help. Louise

Lisa Somers

Hi Louise, if you are in WA you can choose 2 out of the 4 services. 1 must be general dental and 1 must be urgent ambulance. when you choose the other 2, major dental and foot orthodics have a 12 month Waiting period to claim but all other services the waiting period is waived and you can interchange them as often as required. the "catch" is that you MUST have the nominated service on the policy BEFORE you get the service.
hope this helps

Louise

I am in NSW and I have Top hospital, which I think covers urgent ambulance services. Am I able to then keep major dental and select 3 other services?

How far in the future can you claim back pharmaceutical benefits? If they were bought after the waiting period and I can get the receipts from the pharmacies - is it possible? I only just found out one of medications is covered by HBF and I have pharmaceutical cover under my policy.

1 answer
HBF
HBF T.HBF

Hi Efroend, Pharmacy is slightly different to the other Extras options because the pharmacy scheduled changes frequently, your medication might not have always been listed as eligible. We can process any claims up to 2 years old, if you have any older than that we'll need to have them assessed. If you have (or can get a copy of) the receipts from the pharmacy submit them, either by mail, in the branch or online under myHBF: https://www.hbf.com.au/myhbf/login and we can check them and process all possible claims. If you need any further help please just let me know! - Lauren

I have a Couples Smart saver membership. Am I covered for a private consult with a Neurologist?

1 answer
HBF
HBF T.HBF

Hi Kassie,

Unfortunately we don't cover outpatient consultations although if this results in requiring surgery please be sure to get in touch with us with the item number/s and provider number/ costs and dates for the procedure so we can give you a full out of pocket quote and discuss how to get the most back in your claim. You may like to check with Medicare to see if a rebate is claimable for this through them. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Peo

Peoasked

Why can I sign up with another health insurer and I don't need to wait the 12 months on major dental and yet HBF whom I have been with for near 30 years advise I must wait 12 mths to increase my premium?

1 answer
HBF
HBF T.HBF

Hi Peo, if you were upgrading your major dental with HBF or transferring to another company to a higher level, you would need to re-serve the 12 month waiting period as we would be required to provide a clearance certificate which shows your previous level of cover etc. When transferring over to another health insurer on the same or similar level of cover for major dental they would then waive the waiting period, depending on their policy surrounding this. Let me know if you have any further questions. - Tristan
