Hello, I have GapSaver attached to my cover. Who actually 'contributes' to this GapSaver balance? or does it come out from the (higher?) premium that I pay fortnightly?
Also HBF has paid my entire invoice using my GapSaver (even though the invoice has already been paid at the doctor's and I submitted the claim online for other non-consult items in the invoice). Will this be refunded to me? Thanks.
Hi Jazzy, thank you for reaching out to us. Gapsaver provides coverage for claimable out of pocket expenses and accrues on a quarterly basis from the premiums that you pay to HBF. Something definitely does not seem right with the benefits we have allocated towards your invoice and we would like to look into this further for you. As we cannot access or disclose your policy details on this channel, please contact our team directly on 133 423 or email us at memberservices@hbf.com.au with your member umber, full name and date of birth. -Caitlin
How does one prove that their condition is not pre existing.. People are not always able to attend the same practioner or practise over the years due to moving house.. Colonoscopy is needed in extreme pain but am 15 weeks away from 1year being covered. It is 100% not pre existing
My understanding is that the burden of proof lies with the insurer. They will need to produce evidence that the signs and symptoms existed before you joined.
Hi Gabby, thank you for your question, a pre-existing condition is an ailment, illness or condition which was known to exist, or signs or symptoms of which would have been evident during the 6-month period prior to date of joining or transfer to a higher level of cover, including on the day you joined. It is not necessary for the ailment, illness, or condition, to have been diagnosed in the 6-month period – only that signs or symptom were or would have been evident. It is the medical practitioner appointed by HBF who decides if an ailment, illness, or condition is pre-existing.
So, we can look into this further, please reach out by emailing us at memberservices@hbf.com.au, with your details and ‘attention social’ or on 133 423 and one of our friendly consultants will be able to assist for today. – Chloe

I currently have $248 as my Gap Saver balance. This recharges on 5th December 2021. Will I lose this $248?
Hi Valerie, good question! You will not lose your Gap Saver balance on the 5th of December. This only means it will keep accumulating, adding onto the remaining balance. - Shazrin :)
Thank you.

Hi Davidg, thank you for getting in touch! We proactively review our health cover offering, which can lead to us making changes to our suite including closing certain products for sale. Where can I find the HBF Pharmacy Schedule so i can i see if my Daughters medication is on there as the chemist has given me a receipt to put in a claim
Hi Colin, thanks so much for getting in touch and I can definitley help with this. The HBF Pharmacy Schedule is a database you can access prior to a pharmaceutical purchase by giving us a call on 133 423. We will cross-check the active ingredient of your daughter's medication against this list and confirm whether we are able to provide a benefit as part of your Pharmacy level of cover.
If you have already purchased the item, the easiest way to determine your benefit is by submitting a claim. You are able to do this through MyHBF, in a branch or through the post. If the claims process is new to you and you would like some further information, please get in touch with us and we will be happy to run you through the process.
I hope this helps. We look forward to hearing from you soon and have a lovely rest of your day.
Best Regards, Kaila The HBF Team
