Honda MDX (2003-2006) Questions & Answers

Hello, we have had our MDX since new. The only issues we have had are the sensors lighting up on the dash such as catalytic converter and the engine sensors. We had everything looked at and it was all working fine, the sensors go brittle from age and turn themselves on. We have driven the MDX with the engine light on for the last 8 years. As long as you have coolant, brake fluid and oil the engines are bullet proof.

I cant think of any, it has had an air bag recall, and you only get about 400km to the tank. we have had ours since new and its still a great car. The leather is still in new condition. Its a well engineered car.

Um, no bad points just airbag recall. Nothing else.

I love my Honda MDX to bits.... Looks, Practicality, Performance and Reliability all rolled into one. There are no bad points. It takes only BP Ultimate 98 Octane fuel which obviously costs more. You receive great performance when you need it as a result. All recalls are done on my MDX. An excellent Honda Mechanic is a must, if you invest the time to find a trustworthy Honda mechanic you'll enjoy reliable, relatively cheap motoring going forward.

Take to Honda dealer. They will diagnose correctly.

Hello, we have had a an engine light problem as well. We went to the Honda dealer and they said the Catalytic Converter needed to be replaced for an approx cost of $2500 despite the converter working fine. We took the car to a specialist auto electrician and he said, it was the age of the engine sensor playing up, not a faulty C/Converter. We were assured by the auto electrician there was nothing wrong with the cars engine (just a sensor that is faulty that was inside the CC). Based on the information we were told plus internet research, we decided to do nothing (that was 4 years ago) the car has been driven all this time with the engine light on with no problems. Previous European cars I have owned after 10 years, the sensors get faulty and then show up as a light on the dash. I would suspect your fault is the sensor or wiring/connection or a computer dash fault (possibly a computer reset needs to be done at Honda).

Hi i have a simular problem the Xmas lights on cluster dash come and go This never use to happen at all Not untill honda had a Recall on Airbags & the Computer After they changed my computer The lights started coming on First engine sensor i hadthat replaced to my cost It proved useless & costly Weeks later all cluster warning lights come on again Back to honda again for a reset More and more lights keep poping up Took to honda they reset again & again I belive that the honda computer swap call back was not exactly the same as the original Hopefully there are others with the same issue from call back swaped honda computer

I have the same problem with my dash lights comeing on since the recall i have taken the car back to honda 3 times now did not achieve Anything Im trying locate a good honda machanic

Hello Haven't experienced either of these problems. I would think either a fuse or a worn out motor re the wiper. The cruise control, seems odd, but I would check it hasn't been touched or changed in a service. The only item we have experienced re electrics is a warning sensor connected to the engine that was on and malfunctioning. We had the best auto electricians look at this and sensors can start to fail after 10 years in all cars. I think a good auto electrician would be a first start.

Never heard of any problems in Aus. Uber reliable like most Hondas.
