Please don’t just state the obvious. The general public would know your answer. Can you please clarify and provide the differences in these two mattress? Including materials, glues, stitching, machine made, hand made, different in layers etc - used.

I would strongly suggest you to not buy this mattress! It is terrible. Read the reviews. We loved ours initially and it sagged so quickly, and we had to replace it. My partner is only 70gs and I am 62kgs - I am short, and my partner is only 170cm. We rotated followed all the appropriate care instructions, including rotating it regularly and still it sagged so quickly and provided no support and caused back pain.

Timber platform bases provide the best possible support for your new mattress, to prolong its life and ensure the most comfortable sleep experience. A king size mattress and a long single size may result in a different feel due to the size difference and the adjustment period needed for your body to adapt to the new mattress, however the componentry is the same. Hi Mel, Thank you for reaching out. We can confirm both beds are available under the King Koil brand. We do have different models available through our Retail Partners, as no two beds are the same. When it comes to comfort, we tend to find it to be highly subjective, and with this being said, a slight change in even one material can alter the feel for the individual.

With the 2 you have asked about:

The Serenity Range uses a stretch knit fabric on the top quilt. This is different to the Damask Fabric on the Allegro. The Allegro also has an addition of a wool/ultraloft fibre blend under the quilt, which the Serenity does not. Allegro uses Gel infused Latex in the main comfort layer, where the Serenity will use a Gel in some comfort feels, and type of gel Latex in the firmer feels. There is similarities in the Spring Systems, and Micro Comfort Coils, however the foams will be slightly different throughout the models as well.

They do both feature our Performa edge support system, which makes them suitable for an adjustable base.

Best advise we give, is try them both out in store, but ensure you spend more than just a five minute sit/lay on the bed. Spend the time to let the foams adjust/contour to your body, and mimic your natural sleep position. If you change throughout the night, be sure to spend the time laying in each position. This can take 30 minutes.

We also advise to have your sleep partner present, so you can mirror partner disturbance, to see how the materials adapt, as this will greatly affect your sleep.

Hi June. I’m a genuine buyer & this isn’t a fake review - I was so disappointed in the mattress we spent over $3000 (retails for over $6000) on this mattress and we ended up replacing it less than 2 years later. We loved it initially and we’re so happy, we did all the right things, rotated it, had a mattress protector, slept in the middle etc. When we started having issues we received no support or assistance. I am also a genuine buyer and unfortunately I spent the same close to 6k and it breaks my heart to throw it away. It is sitting in the garage ready to be thrown out unfortunately. Save your money and buy an EMMA mattress which is amazing! No more back issues which king koil created!!!!

I’ve just bought a platinum luxury 2 months ago and it’s created back problems that I’ve never had. I spend $4,000 and it’s already sagging after a couple of hours sleeping on it. You fall asleep ok but wake in pain within a couple of hours as the top layer has no support. I’m so upset I’ve wasted $4,000 but going to take it to consumer affairs if king Koil doesn’t fix the problem. I paid for a supportive mattress and they haven’t delivered, so it’s a consumer affairs issue. I’m not going to throw away $4,000.

Good morning kate54, Thank you for your enquiry. All our AH Beard beds are able to work on articulating base frames. This particular product has our Performa Edge Support, requiring no modification.

Some of our other beds that do not feature this technology, can be modified to fit articulating bases if we are notified at the time of purchase. This is because all our beds are made to order, as we do not carry an inventory of stock.

Hi Sally, Thank you for reaching out. When it comes to the 5 zone system, we do find this tends to be suited to the side sleepers. That does not mean it won't be of benefit, however we would strongly advise you to test out the different ranges of our mattresses in store to ensure you are satisified.

As a mattress is the most used product in the entire household with 6-10 hrs of use every day, some things to consider when in-store are:

- Always test with your sleep partner present. - Lay on the mattress in your preferred position, be that stomach, back, side or a combination. - Spend as much time as possible testing. Not just 5 minutes. - As comfort is subjective, focus on the comfort of the mattress as well as the support, this can take 15-30 minutes. - The mattress that you tried in-store is the future state of the mattress you just bought. - A plush feeling mattress is designed to contour and settle to your body faster than other comfort feels.

So the reflex system would be better for tummy sleeper?

Hi Sally, Thank you for getting back to us. 5 zone systems can be used by all sleepers, so is not just aimed at back/side sleepers. It will come down to a personalised feel, and what the body feels it needs when it comes to the level of support.

Reflex is a great system as it utilises primary and active coils and responds to your individual shape. It is designed to relieve pressure points, as well as promoting spinal alignment.

As mentioned above, with any of our beds, it will come down to what you find comfortable, and supportive. Whether you want the plushness of feeling like you are sleeping in the mattress, or moving towards medium to firm feels where you have more of a feeling of sleeping above the mattress and how the spring unit then supports you.

So I ended up buying the king koil Austin limited edition medium queen. I was so looking forward to sleeping in it for the first time last night as it arrived yesterday. I am so disappointed. I tossed and turned all night trying to get comfy. It felt hard on my shoulder when lying on my side. This morning I have woken up with neck, shoulder and arm pain. I wish I kept my old mattress, which was more than 20 yrs old but more comfy

Hi Sally, Thanks for getting back to us, and sorry to hear you are experiencing discomfort with the new purchase. As briefly mentioned above, we do find the mattress you try in store is the future state of the mattress you have been delivered. This is because a mattress as part of floor stock has been tested numerous times, and allowed the foams and comfort layers to soften. As your mattress has been made to order, this process has not been completed, and the foam is still a little stiff.

It is also recommended you rotate your new mattress end to end every two weeks during the first four months of ownership, and monthly thereafter to ensure more even wear and body contouring to the mattress. Other reasons we find for discomfort can be (when a previous mattress was used for so long), that your body adjusted to the shape and feel of the previous mattress, and may have been given less support. Now you have moved to something new, you are getting the support you have been missing, and the body needs some time to adjust to this. Depending on which category you are falling into , there is no set time as to how long the process to adjust can take. We have found this can vary based on individual weights, and of course the amount of time laying in the bed.

Well it has been 2 months now and I am still finding this mattress uncomfortable. I can't sleep on my side as I can't get comfortable and it is too hard on my shoulders and hips so I end up on my stomach. I toss and turn all night. It is also hot, which it is supposed to be for hot sleepers with the gel infused cooling foam?I am so disappointed and getting no sleep. I wish I had chose the plush, but the sales man kept telling me I needed the meduim. Would there be any chance at all that Harvey Norman would swap for the plush???

We do talk to this in our Bed Care and Guarantee document on pages 4 and 5. external link  While we do support our own adjustable bases, curved slats can degrade over time, and not provide the support we require. This could mean a warranty claim may not be processed on a non-recommended base.

Hi Joan S They are an amazing mattress. This model is not made anymore and the closest to that model is the King Koil Platinum Serenity. This model as a couple of things the previous model didn't have and that is upgraded spring system and micro coils. The Bordeaux had gel where this current model doesn't. Hi John That is such a great question. After some homework. The closest model to that mattress is from Domayne. The name of the mattress is King Koil Sorento. Primary coil count: 690 Active Coils: 125 Aerocomfort: aero quilt and aero latex Comfort foams

Model up from that asa comparison is a King Koli Ravello Primary coil count: 690 Active Coils:165 Aerocomfort: aero quilt and aero latex (breath-ability) Wool/ultraq fibre layer Comfort foams

When testing these mattresses take your time 15 to 30 minutes laying on the mattress in you preferred sleeping position. If another person shares the mattress bring them along with you.

The sides of the mattress is what the future state of the mattress will feel like. The centre of the mattress is what the mattress will feel like when it arrives home just slightly firmer. It will take 4-6 weeks for the mattress to settle in. What that means sometimes is that the occupants may feel some discomfort as their body gets used to the new mattress surface. Hi just wondering what you ended up buying as we are looking at the King Koil San Siro Plush.

Hi just wondering has anyone bought the platinum Lancaster king.What are your thoughts?

Be very careful with what you are buying, especially if you are in the older age range! We are in our late 60s and we bought a King Koil with adjustable base - Super King, which is two long King singles linked together - and while we love the adjustments (especially Zero Gravity for sleeping) we find it very difficult to change the fitted bottom sheets due to the weight of the beds.

Also, the mattresses have sagged on the outer edge, after 6 months use. Although the instructions say to rotate the mattress every month(!!) this isn't possible because of the weight and also two restraining straps which hold the mattresses to the bases - not shown anywhere in either the set up or usage instructions but obviously necessary to stop the top of the bed sliding down when raised. This sagging seems to be a problem with King Koil and reading other reviews their customer service doesn't seem to be the best if you have a problem.

We have the platinum Cambridge and it's amazing, anything is better than what we had though. It did have a bit of a smell from the latex so the first couple of nights I didn't like but now, I'm sleeping better than I ever have

My wife and I didn't notice any latex smells at all. But this is an inner-sprung mattress, not a latex one, so it shouldn't have such a problem anyway.

We also didn't notice any rubbery/latex smell either.

Thanks guys for getting back to me. the lady in forty winks owned one and said it smells for a couple of weeks from a the comfort layers.. I went the safe route and bought the display model as it was very new. My mattress arrived today feels great Can't wait to sleep.
