Madison Waldorf Questions & Answers
VerifiedJust wondering how many of you have the mattress on an ensemble base or on slats? Ours is on slats and I don't think it feels nearly as good as the ensemble in the shop......
Ours is on slats, it feels firmer then it was instore.
We have slats too, but don't think that would impact the "heat" issue.
We've tried both slats & ensemble. But swear this is not the same quality mattress as we tried in the shop. It has "failed" on both sides leaving us with deep graves that make is very difficult to roll out of. Neither of us are obese, in fact I weigh less than 60kg.
Hi, I just got sucked into spending $6,500 for a MADISON EMPIRE bed and mattress (Queen size) after attending the Sydney Home Show on the weekend. Did I make a mistake? Was told the normal price was $10,500. So I saved $4000!
Has anyone tried this mattress?? For this price I'm guessing it's better than the Madison Waldorf?
That is not a bad price you got it for. Even the snooze sale with 5% discount with RACQ/Norma, etc. you got it cheaper. external link
Hi, I read a review on external link and it said it's a good bed but a bit over priced. My MadisonWaldorf is very good except I find it generates too much heat in the summer. Good luck, hope it's perfect.
Thats good to hear :) I will receive it in 4 weeks time
Thats good to hear :) I will receive it in 4 weeks time..that link yo set above is the price of a king size though
Whoa I haven't heard of that one so hope it's great. From memory I paid about $3,000 reduced from $4,000
I just bought the mattress, not a base or headboard
HI BERNY
sorry to say this you have pay a little too much . I just purchased a QS Empire ensemble under 6k delivered .
regards
We just got the Waldorf Madison, base with 4 draws, a memory foam pillow (free, norm $250) for 3488 delivered
I have also purchased the Waldorf and find that it is hot and we are in the middle of winter, I can only imagine what it might be like in summer. I have done some research since and it seems that this could be related to the pillow top and the fact that it is so plush and your body sinks into it so the pillow top is in close contact with your body. Have others found this to be the case?
Snooze has offered for me to change the pillow top to a less plush one in the hope that it wont be as warm, I have to say that I am quite nervous about choosing the 'right' one. Any advice anyone has will be much appreciated.
We are in the middle of winter and I definitely dont feel the top is too warm I have a winter dooner and hot water bottle in bed with me. My partner runs alot hotter then me and he has a summer dooner in winter but he never complains that there is too much heat from the bed. Summer it is hotter but I never feel like it is because the heat is radiating from the bed excessively. Everyone is different though so I guess it is personal choice at the end of the day.
Hi justkeeptrying, My Waldorf is SO hot in summer but I find it generally good in winter. Suggest you go for one without a foam topper and buy a separate topper without memory foam if you can/if needed.
Do take up the offer to swap bed but go for no topper.
Otherwise it is a fantastic bed!!
You are lucky, you are a hot woman.
Wondering what you ended up doing with Yor Waldorf , shari did you replace the top and if so to what and are you happy with it?
I swapped the bed. They didn't change the top in the end. I think I went for the Times Square. It's not as hot as the Waldorf, but still warmish, certainly do not need a heavy winter doona. Good luck.
Is anybody happy with the Madison Waldorf I ordered one yesterday from snooze and I am getting worried I have done the wrong choice, when you say you are hot is that with aircon on? I have arthritis in my shoulder and I don't want something to get delivered that I am not happy with.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Hi Bee4017 It's a fabulous mattress except it does generate heat in summer. This could be due to the padded "plush" topper which is attached. I was told by someone at Snooze that a Tencel mattress protector would help but it doesn't.
My partner doesn't seem to notice the heat but I am very sensitive to it in the summer months.
In winter it's a dream. Just perfect - we don't have air-conditioning by the way and our bedroom can be warm in summer months. I'm not sure if having air-con would make a difference. A fan doesn't!
The gel pad I bought does help for short periods but also gets hot after a while. I'm thinking of getting a more superior gel pad. ($300 +).
Otherwise it's a fabulous mattress.
I can't advise you what to do but I hope this helps.
Can I ask if any of the people who are loving this mattress are stomach sleepers? I slept on it for the first time last night and it was the worst sleep I've ever had, got bad pain in my back. Did anybody have a similar issue initially that got better with time? Thanks
i returned my madison after 1 month because it started to dip in the middle, i went for the times square and its better, i think for tummy sleepers they say a slightly firmer mattress is better, but it is your 1st night and 1st nights on mattress are always horrible so give it time.
Hi Akachloe Maddison Waldorf: I've had no problems with anything except it makes me hot at night in the summer. Great in winter!! No sagging, total comfort, firm with thick topper is great, I sm a side sleeper. No aches and pains. Supportive.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, my second and third nights have been better, probably because I slept on my back. If this mattress forces me to sleep on my back, that's a good thing, have tried and not been able to break that habit.
After weeks of research and trying different mattresses all over Sydney - from Forty Winks to David Jones, I settled on the Madison Waldorf for its pocket coil system, softness, breathability and affordable price. However, I just had my first night's sleep on the Waldorf and found it is much firmer than the floor stock Waldorf I tried at Snooze. My partner and I woke up today with very sore backs and so we rang the store. They said to give it 30 days and that it should soften up/my body will adjust.
After reading some reviews here I am still wondering.... has anyone else had to 'adjust' to the Waldorf? Does it truly soften up with time??
I was so convinced it was perfect but now I'm not so sure. HELP!
Yes mine was firm for the first week, i then adjusted to it and it was nice to now its unbearable does not even feel like the shop mattress anymore , during the night you sink into it extremely I'm swapping it hopefully next week
give it some time it will soften up and it will be the matress you dreamed it to be! ... make sure you rotate the mattress every 3 months or so. Ive had mine for 6+ months rotated it twice and its perrrrfect!
Ours has become too soft over time and is giving us backache. The shop has said we can pay a few hundred to have a firmer top put on it so we're about to try that
I have had my madison for almost 1 month now already have rotated it once but after 6 hours of sleep am finding my self with a lot of back pain from slouching over am finding it not over supportive in the centre third is any one else noticing this?
not at all; see a gp if pain persists. ours is a delight.
I have had a lot of problems with this. I have had pain through my pelvis and hips after sleeping on this bed. I am having to look at alternatives.
Have you contacted snooze yet ? are you finding it has no support centre third ?
I 've had a couple of nights sleep on the mattress but find I get hot WE PUT A MATTRESS PROTECTOR ON TOP should we take it off or is there some other way to make it cooler...or is it the bed itself?
I think it is the memory foam. We have a mattress protector also, which you really have to keep on to protect the mattress. I was told to use cotton not polyester protectors, but I think you probably will find it a bit warm in summer anyway.. Apparently foam is. Sorry.
Hi, Trevor. Our Madison Waldorf mattress came with the mattress protector from Snooze. I can assure you both the mattress and the protector are of excellent quality. Since it's summer, I don't find that this mattress is very hot, it feels like sleeping on a cloud, however if you feel it gets too hot, my suggestion is to use a good quality mattress protector. Also, as we've been using this mattress for a few months now, we have also noticed that this mattress is perfect for couples, there is no partner disturbance at all. Hope this helps.
I got the elite protector from snooze in the valley at the time. I think its fine.. Although I do have aircon in the room before bedtime. . Aaannd a gel pillow from that snooze store too lol. (Get one and put it in the fridge for 30 min b4 bed) GOLD.
Sorry but p.s na I don't think it is the memory foam. The Mrs thought it too firm so I paid for more memory foam to be put in! Lol.
Its been 9 months nw n its great.
We find our grand soooooo hot! Especially now it's warming up. We have only just adjusted to the bed after 2 months. Prob not fully adjusted. We have a Logan and mason cotton matress protector. Have tried taking it off to see if that helps cool the bed down but to no avail. Going to call snooze tomorrow to see what they suggest. This bed has caused quite a bit of anxiety for us. We waited a long time to get the new perfect bed. I will be interested to see what can be done.
