I barely touched my Merthen shower head to adjust the angel when it snapped! The thread didn’t come undone or unscrewed, the whole head snapped and I’m not sure why it would have done that?

Hi Jackie yes the thread on these is weak very poor and expensive to replace we had no response from Methven so purchased a cheaper one but better made

We have just had installed the methven satinjet..ORA handset... the hose sticks well out from the shower back and looks awful... will it in time settle flat to the wall??

Brett J.
Brett J.

My first Methven Satinjet hose eventually settled, but with the replacement units (because the seals _will_ perish, and when thy used to reply to warranty claims they'd replace the whole unit instead of just the seals) ... the hoses never seemed to give into gravity and hang properly. I get it ... it does look kinda naff. For me it's only an issue in the spare bathroom which we never use (I just kept the original one which hangs fine in our ensuite). If I could be bothered, I was going to consider filling the laundry sink up with boiling water and rest the hose in there for a while to see if it went soft, then if so - re-attach it while soft to see if it stays in that shape.

I have the same problem. Let me know if you have found out? It’s a weird setup and looks to be a female screw inside ‍

Hi there, can the water flow restrictor be removed on the Methven overhead wall shower Swan Neck model?? Or is this permanently built in..

Dont know

Hi Cindy, I don't know if it can be removed but I returned mine after one shower because it was terrible! I purchased the same model from Bunnings on Saturday and was appalled at how pathetic the water flow was. It's like a trickle that falls straight down, not like what is shown on the box, and it certainly is not a drencher as described. I have excellent water pressure at my place so the shower head is the problem. The water flow was so weak that during the first shower, I had to walk around to get wet and couldn't even get the shampoo out of my hair. I checked Bunnings return policy and called them BEFORE I removed it, and explained why I wanted to return it. The store manager agreed and they refunded my money because "the product is not fit for its intended purpose". I had to put my old shower head back up but I'm going to the plumbing supply store to find a better shower head today.

Easy fix just remove the water restricter. It’s usually at the inlet point or sometimes they put them at the shower head connection. But once you find it it’s easy to remove. Worst case you can drill it out if you can’t pull it out

I bought a hand held flexispray hand held shower. The problem is when it’s tightened so that hose is facing down it is not tight enough, it wobbles and won’t hold the shower head! I cannot tighten it another full turn so the hose is facing upwards. What should I do?

Maudie

Sorry can't help. Had my own problems with our Methven tap with no response to my email. Husband and I resorted to 'backyard mechanics' to fix the problem (sort of). Would never recommend Methven for their after sales service. THERE IS NONE.

Maudie, Thank you for you reply. It is so disappointing as it never said " you might need to cut the pipe" if it had I wouldn't have bought it!! I bought a different and had a similar problem!!

You should only cut the male brass thread protruding from your tile if it is too long after fully tightening the female rose attachment of the shower fitting. To make the hose of the shower fitting point down, simply wrap a few turns of plumbers tape around the brass thread in the same direction of the fitting you are attaching and this will keep the gap from being loose or wobbly. Then you can stop turning the fitting just before the last turn while it's pointing down. There is white and pink plumbers tape, white is thinner and will require approximately a dozen turns whilst pink is thicker and only requires a few turns, you will need to experiment with the amount of turns of tape to get a firm tension when doing up the thread not too loose and not too tight that you can't even do it up by hand. It is also important to wrap the tape from the start tightly so it sticks to the brass and doesn't spin as you apply it, so hold down the 1st turn as you over lap it , otherwise the female thread of the fitting will only push the tape back and it will not end up between the male and female threads .If you don't get the amount of turns right simply pick the old tape off and start again until you get the right firm tension. Always count the number of turns of tape so you'll know if you need 1 or 2 extra turns on the next attempt. "Good luck "

Have no experience with this product suggest you contact Methven within hours of my post they contacted me to apologise for delay and said the part was being sent to me by air freight. They are having a few teething problems since being joined with the caroma brand. Good luck hope you get a quick resolution.

I have a Satinjet hand shower. The holder on the rail is loose and the hand shower keeps on falling down to face the wall when we shower. Can we tighten this up so it does not fall down?

They sell faulty parts and know it. Avoid. See my review. I have to tell Bunnings. You have to request for a new holder part. Mine was faulty from purchase and installation. My hose was damaged because of this and they sent the wrong hose, I have a stainless steel shower and was sent a chrome one. I responded with photos and its been two weeks since they responded. I now have to spend time chasing them up and micro managing mistakes which is tough right now.

The satinjet shower head is leaking on the bottom of the head - The black seal inside the satin jet shower head appears very worn and thin compared to an identical same age head that is less used in another bathroom Is this under warranty or if not where can I get the seal replaced - I live in Coffs Harbour NSW

Look up methven's website and find the contact. I emailed them, included a couple of pics and had a response within a couple of days. They sent a replacement within a week or so. It was simple to replace it. Absolutely one of the best pieces of customer service I've ever come across.

I have the same issue with my out of warranty satinjet showerhead and emailed GWA bathrooms who now own Methven. They replied they don't have seals as parts and I would need to replace the shower head. Can the seals be sourced somewhere else?
