Can the cruise control just be a normal cruise control without the distance to the car in front being set. My car put the brakes on suddenly when the car in front turned left. I wasn't very close and the road in front was completely clear. Quite dangerous and the car behind had to brake quickly. Thank you. Liz.

You can adjust it but that’s it it’s set to the way your meant to drive according road rules

This is really a question. We had a 2022 ZST Core and now have a 2024 ZST Core and on the 2022 the cruise control speed was indicated on dash but not on the 2024. Any ideas?

Spoke to our salesman about this and he says some of the software may not have been activated. Have arranged for this to be sorted out on its first service in August.

Hi Bob, did this get sorted? Or do you have any more info? Our 2024 ZST won't display set speed, but the car we test drove did. There's not even a light to indicate when the cruise is active, but the cruise control works.

Two problems with my ZST Essence - any input greatly appreciated... 1. A "lag" happens on average once a week and has increased in the last few weeks, it loses power for 1-2 seconds, makes a crunching sound, and gives me a little shock every time as it happens randomly and at any speed (except over 90kmh).

2. I had to have front brakes - discs and pads - done at 20,000kms!

We had the same issue with lag when accelerating. The problem is intermittent but seems to be worse when the outdoor temperature is high. On a couple of occasions the car has shut down. Also lack,of power on hills. We have now written directly to MG and are waiting a response.

Thanks for your feedback. Forgot to mention that i've reported it to them several times now, firstly phone calls, in person attending a service, and also by email more which they didn't reply to. Also when I was talking about it at the service and lady walked in and said hers does the same thing. Not good!

Have a Core ZST (2 years now) and have complained vigourously about the hesitancy on take-off. It's plain dangerous fully expecting to be rammed up the rear by the car behind. Dealer says it happens with all the 1,5L CVTs but it seems like a fob off to me. Use 95-98 octane and it's better than 91 that the dealer loaded into it on delivery. It's my wife's car and I drive it occassionally. Now I am thinking it is a fuel pickup problem - in the tank itself because filters and pumps in modern cars are in the tank. And it is more likely to happen if you are facing downhill or uphill or the road leans steeply when parked at the kerb. My wife says it tends to happen more often when the tank is less than half empty. It's an MG Australia issue which they seem reluctant to address until people start getting killed because the thing "dies" when you expect it not to and a dangerous situation develops. Maybe someone knows how to get the issue to a government agency who deals with this kind of thing - a la Ralph Nader.

Hi John I have a 2024 model zst core I am running 98 in her and I'm having the same issues with it hesitating on take of from lights and round abouts thats the scary one if this issue has been ongoing for a few years are the dealers passing on the info to the manufacturer about it issues ...because I've seen enough people complaining about this dangerous problem .....I haven't been to the dealers yet as my car is 1000 km old but I will today ...get the consumer watchdog involved or channel 9 or 7

Hi Leanne I currently have the same model with the same issue that they wanted to replace pads at 20.000kms. I also have all engine lights and failure lights for all features and car needs to be towed on Monday :( Did you have any luck with yours?

CVT transmissions are not designed to be floored. Take off smoothly

On Tuesday my new mg zst stopped. Driving home an error msg on screen TCLS something that came up so I pulled into a servo (no mechanic there) and tried finding issue in manual. Nothing so googled it. Then tried to start it and it was dead. Now a yellow steering wheel with ! after it appeared. Oil light on and others and kept saying put foot on break start. But it wouldn't. Called roadside they sent a tech out think he made it worse now locked in park. Had to call tow truck for it to taken away. Dealership still has not told me what's wrong and they have had it for 2 days. Anyone else had this problem? Not happy!

Not me AM D. The letters suggest a traction control system problem. But online says that if the engine is turned off after the message comes up, it will not restart. A safety matter methinks. But apparently a known fault in a car that's been in production since 2018 and sold overseas As the car is with the dealer, I suggest that you keep a diary of the matter, what, when for later use should you need evidence for your state consumer affairs department. These diarised notes are totally admissible and help make your case, should it be needed. At least you have a 7 years warranty.

What could be a Suspension knock/rattle noise coming from the front when slowing down or going over humps especially when the car is hot? Had it back to dealer twice without problem being fixed.
