Exactly the same problem as mine. When I googled it I found a few reviews with the same problem. I took mine back and got a full refund. Consumer law is on your side. Go for your $ back and buy a different product. If Oricom were being right about it they would have taken them off the shelves by now.

Hi Raine, Customer Support have advised the following: It sounds like you have VOX on, so in order to change this: Do factory reset and see if the problem is fixed. Press and hold “call” button (not PTT) whilst turning unit on
If reset is successful radio should default to channel 12.
Hope that helps. If the problem continues, please call our dedicated Customer Support on 1300 889 785 to help troubleshoot the issue. Thanks and all the best, Oricom.

Hi Dave, Sorry but we don't have any protective covers to suit the UHF2180. Check online you should be able to pick up something generic that would fit. All the best Oricom UHF CB
Is there a car charger available for UHF2190. If so where can I get one or if not, why not?

What has replaced your Oricom 2180?
Why did you discontinue? Do you have anything of similar std at a similar price ?
Where do I buy from? I live 35 Ks out of Whangarei.
Mal Jarvis 0211530535
Hi Mal, We are continually working to improve our products as technology advances. The UHF2180 have been replaced by the UHF2190 or you may be able to find a similar model UHF2195 in some retailers. This model is essentially the same as the UHF2180 with 2 watt power. It comes with an FM Radio and Torch which some of our customers really like. Check your local Repco or SuperCheap store for stock. Cheers, Oricom UHF CB
I bought a in car unit, I have wired it up but waiting for an antenna to arrive that I have ordered, I turned the unit on and can receive transmission but when I push the mike button nothing lights up as in the tx symbol. Is this because of no antenna or is there something wrong?
Hi Joe, Thanks for your question regarding your installation. It is likely that the issue you are experiencing is due to the fact you have no antenna attached. Please refer to the the Installation Instructions and Warnings in your user manual when installing your radio in your vehicle, and check that during installation you do not damage any wiring or vehicle components that may be hidden around the mounting position.
For optimum performance your radio needs to be installed correctly. If you are unsure about how to install your radio, we suggest you have your radio professionally installed by a UHF specialist or Auto electrician. When installing the radio, avoid mounting it close to heaters or air conditioners. Importantly Never press the PTT or CALL button before connecting the antenna to the radio.
Antenna information
The antenna (not supplied) is of critical importance, to maximize your output power and receiver sensitivity. A poorly installed, inferior
quality antenna or one not designed for the correct frequency band will give poor performance. You should only purchase an antenna
designed for the 477MHz frequency band.
Antenna installation
1. Connect the antenna to the rear antenna socket using a PL259 coaxial connector (not supplied).
2. To obtain maximum performance from the radio, select a high quality antenna and mount it in a good location.
Never press the PTT or CALL button before connecting the antenna to the radio.
If you need any further advice or assistance, please contact our Customer Support Team on 1300 889 785.
Best regards,
Oricom UHF CB Radios
Hi Joe, Do not attempt to transmit without the antenna attached mate, could damage your set. Best bet would be to check it out once anteena arrives. Sorry for the tardy reply. Cheers Steve
I have UHF2180. Can receive and hear clearly but can't transmit. Is it just a setting?
Being a 2W unit you are only able to transmit (they claim) up to 10km "line of sight". Therefore you won't be able to transmit around corners or over buildings or terrain. My advice is to take it back to whoever you bought it from or speak to Oricom as I haven't had any issues with transmitting or receiving signals within close proximity. They are a pretty basic unit and to date I haven't had any issues with mine.
Hi There Mark, The first tip would be to perform a factory reset on your unit, To do this turn your radio off. Once the unit is off, Push and hold down the (M) Menu button while turning the unit on. Once the unit is on release the (M) Menu button, test the unit again, if this does not resolve the issue you are experiencing please give us a call on 02 4574 8888 or 1300 889 785 and we will troubleshoot with you further.
hi budy just wondering what ended happening with that issue as im currently suffering from the same thing its kinda enoying we can hear but no one can hear us
I have just got my UHF2180 and set them up and pluged in to charge for the first time, On the desk top charger the red led for both units have stayed on for 3 days, do they go green when fully charged ??? George
Hi George, The red light indicates the charger is engaged and working. To check if the battery is full, turn the radio on and check the battery level icon (see page 10 of the user guide). If you need any assistance, give our Customer Support Team a call on 1300 889 785. We hope you enjoy your radios. Cheers Oricom UHF CB
