Hi, I have a pair of UHF2190 handheld units. I lent them to a friend and now the SOS light keeps flashing and none of the keys ( buttons ) work. When I turn them off the light keeps flashing so I have to pull the batteries out to stop it. Operation instructions are no help. Any help appreciated. Thanks Don.

I think I will just get a pair of GME's and through these in the bin. I've had GME before and they gave no problems and not expensive. Don W.

I bought a pair of 2190s from BCF in 2019. I’ve only used them once. I have misplaced the charger cradle so tried charging them via the USB port. The USB port gives no charge at all. Is this normal? What is the alternative?

I just ordered a pair of 2190 and then discovered that Supercheap Auto is selling them exclusively as 2195 with a car charger. I was wondering if the car charger is also available for the 2190 model as it would be very handy to have them charged up while in the bush :)

Is the antenna removable to use an external magnetic antenna with these units?

Oricom

Hi there, not on the UHF2190, no. We would suggest looking at the UHF5500 or the ULTRA550. All the best, Oricom.

What is the range of these radios?

Oricom
Oricom   DM

Hi Michael, thanks for the message. There are many variables when it comes to range, terrain and line of sight etc. The standard response would be the combined line of sight of both stations. If you need further info based on your expected usage, please contact Oricom Support on 02 4574 8888, and the team will be able to assist. All the best, Oricom.

Am wondering why the Ni-MH Batteries supplied are only rated at 600 mAh. The ones I use in our headlamp torches are 800 mAH & some are 900 mAH - from Coles & Aldi. Have tried some of the higher rated ones in our pair of Oricom UHF2195 units recently purchased. Work & charge fine. Should last longer without charge I would think with a higher rated AAA battery.. 4 of these batteries from Aldi or Coles are only about $6 or $7. So can't be a cost issue to supply the 800 mAH I would have thought. Otherwise a nice little unit. We will be taking out pair of 2195s & also a pair of 2190's on a cruise to NZ in a week or so - so looking forward to giving a full test. Cheers Phil D.

Hi Philippe, thank you for your feedback. The batteries supplied are part of the complete radio package offering to our customers, and they provide sufficient stand by time at a competitive price. The batteries you have purchased are OK to use and should give you longer operating times. We hope that helps! Oricom.

Hi What sort of range are you likely to get with these units, looking to mainly use it from boat to land, so no real obstructions Thanks

Oricom
Oricom   DM

Hi Clint, thanks for the message. Regarding the range on the units, the talk range depends on the environment and terrain. In general the radio can reach further in wide open spaces, without obstructions such as hills or buildings. It will be affected by concrete structures, heavy foliage and by operating radios indoors or in vehicles. Dont try to use two radio units which are less than 1.5m (5 feet) apart. Otherwise, you may experience interference. If you would like to call and discuss, please give us a call on 1300 889 785 Mon-Fri 8am-6pm AEST. All the best, Oricom.

What is the waterproof rating for these radios?

Oricom
Oricom   DM

Hi Rob, thanks for the message. The UHF2190 is not a waterproof radio. The UHF2500 however, is. The rating of the UHF2500 is IPX7, which is defined as having no ingress of water when immersed at 1 meter for 30 minutes. (To meet the IPX7 waterproof rating, the accessory socket cover must be in place, the battery must be fitted correctly). Hope that helps! Oricom.

Got mine from super cheap and came with a duel wall charger to charge them both (not a desktop charger) where can I get another from as mine has been misplaced?

Nathan

I don't believe you can I'm afraid. Best people to ask would be supercheap or better yet email oricom directly if you can.

But might be simpler to just charge the batteries out of the unit. They are just AAs or AAAs cant remember which
