Britax Safe-n-Sound Maxi Guard PRO Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhere do I put the foam shell infills? My Maxi Guard Pro s a hand me down from my sister and there is no current foam shells to follow.
I wonder if you have an older version? I used to have a chair with no infills, so I bought another two without realising the structure had changed. In the new ones, the infill sits inside the seat under the cover on the left and right sides of the seat.
Do you happen to have a picture? I’m pregnant and simple written instructions are hard for me to comprehend at the moment lol
Hi Leana, thank you for your message, can you call into your local Baby Bunting store, the sales representative will be able to show you what the infills look like and were they go. Kind Regards The Britax Team.
Can the child press release the harness on their own? To me that poses a risk with a tantruming 3 year old who wants out of her seat! Our current seats for both kids you have to find the release mechanism under the fabric, a bit harder for adults but not the slightest chance of a child undoing their own harness whilst driving
My 5 year old still can’t release themselves. My 7 year old can. It would depend on the child and the strength in their hands and their age. You could try going to a shop that sells the seats and letting your child try it out and see if they can undo it.
Thanks so much, she is pretty Intelligent but also understands when we need to be safe so I might just go for it: there are no shops near me that sell that seat unfortunately.
Hello,
I’m just wondering what bottles the cup holders are actually made to fit? As I have tried so many & none of them so it seems pointless having it
Hi, thank you for contacting us, the cup holder is flexible, squeeze and flex to suit your drink bottle. Kind Regards the Britax Team
I have a maxi guard pro, the foam underneath where my child sits has a fair bit of wear and tear. Can this be replaced?
Hi Tiara, thank you for your message the cost of the replacement foam infills is $25.88 the pair, this price does include the postage and handling charge. Part No. 2108062 Please email aunz-support@britax.com your name, address, contact phone no. and the part no. #2108062 - Foam Infills. Kind Regards the Britax Safe-n-Sound team.
My son wet his pants while in his Maxi Guard Pro - is there any way the urine could have leaked onto the car seat? From what I can see, the base is hard plastic without any obvious holes for urine to seep through. The car seat also has the included messy mat on it.
Hi Olivia, thank you for your message, please check at the bottom of the seat the foam infills, urine may have gone into the plastic cavity and if you do not clean the foam it can cause the foam to go moldy. Kind Regards The Safe-n-sound team.
Hello Team, Can my Britax safe-n-sound maxi guard , model number 1754-2013 change from harness to booster?
No, they are harness only.
Hi Brooke, thank you for your message, the Maxi Guard is a harness car seat and the harness cannot be removed. Kind regards the Britax Safe-n-sound team
I don’t like the idea of not having isofix for my 2 year old, I understand that seatbelt is just as safe but I think it leaves more room for human error. Is there something I can get to make it more secure with seatbelt?
Hi, thank you for your message you can purchase a 3 bar gated buckle this may offer improved fitment, tighter belt installation, available on our web site or through your local baby nursery store. Kind regards the Britax team.
Hi there. What age do you need the cushion insert in the seat?
Hi Danielle, thank you for your message, an insert is a comfort item and can be removed at any time. Please Note it must be removed when the seat if forward facing. Kind Regards the Britax Safe-n-sound Team

Hi, no matter how I follow the instruction and fit the seats as per instruction/video, the seat feels very loose and I can shake it easily around. Is that normal please? It is unfortunately quite inconvenient for me to go to the retailer so would prefer anyone's opinions please.
Hi Jerry, thank you for your message, you can purchase a gated buckle, this buckle offers improved fitment, tighter seat belt installation, available through your local Baby Nursery Store. Kind Regards the Britax team.

Is there any size difference between the pro and standard just trying to figure out if I can fit 3 in back of corolla with the Compaq as that is what Baby Bunting have told me I all ready have the maxi pro trying to not have to buy 2 new maxi standards :)
Hi Jaija, thankyou for your message, the width is 460mm for both the Maxi Guard Pro and Maxi Guard, Baby Bunting will generally let you try before you buy, to make sure our Compaq is also suitable for your vehicle. Kind Regards The Britax Team
Hi just wondering if someone could tell me dose the strap go over or under the metal bar at the back or the seat. Thanks
Hey, If you're talking about the straps when feeding them through to the back and connecting to the T piece, the straps go under the bar.
Hi Zoe, thanks for your question. Can you please give us a call on 1300 303 330 with the reorder code, series number and date of manufacture on the barcode placed on your seat so we can provide you with the correct information. Kind regards, the Britax team.
I know the seat says 12 months to 8 years, but is it safe to put a 10 month old in? I need new car seats for my kids, but my 2 year old has already grown out of his 0-4 seat so want to buy something bigger for my baby.
No. It’s not ideal for that age really as rear facing is best. external link
Hi Zoe, thanks for your question, we would recommend that your little one remains rear facing for at least their first year. If you do decide that you want your child to use the Britax Safe-n-Sound Maxi Guard Pro we would suggest that you ensure your child reaches the first shoulder height marker before placing them in this seat and always have the seat recline. Kind regards, the Britax team.
We bought our Britax Platinum Pro car seat based on the 4.3 star safety rating it received from child car seats Australia and we absolutely love it. We were planning on buying the Maxi Guard Pro as the next step up for our toddler to use so our newborn can now use the platinum pro but when I checked the safety rating for the Maxi Guard Pro it seems to have only received a 1.9 safety rating? Am I reading it wrong? Just a bit confused as there are so many awesome reviews for this seat!
Hi Shan, thanks for your question. Currently there are no Type G Child restraints from any manufacturer that scores more than a 1.9 star rating for performance, despite these seats being engineering and tested with large 10 year old test dummies in very severe crash simulations.
• Britax Childcare is the only Australian car seat manufacturer with its own crash test facility. Every Britax product is tested to meet internal standards above that of the AS/NZS1754 Standard.
• It is important to understand that in Australia, it is an ACCC mandatory requirement that manufacturers comply to the AS/NZS 1754:2013 standard. which is confirmed by its independent certification SAI-Global (the 5 tick mark). All seats certified by SAI Global are safe.
• CREP protocol and test methods are different to AS/NZS 1754 standard and have a unique method of scoring seats as well as continuous protocol changes.
• Britax is constantly working with CREP to help iron out concerns with their test protocol. One of the issues is most apparent with their assessment of Type G Child restraints as a whole.
• Unfortunately the CREP protocol does not take into account the many benefits of a 5 point harness in controlling the seating position of kids during crash situations.
Kind regards, the Britax team.
