Hi Lauren, thank you for your question! Unfortunately, the TEMPUR Cloud Supreme mattress cover cannot be taken off to be washed. We suggest using the TEMPUR-FIT™ Mattress Protector which you can take off and wash. Kindest Regards, TEMPUR

Will a medium mattress end up being soft over time ??

Tony
Tony

Hi I don't actually know the answer. However the flex allowance they talk about is about 50% less than a traditional mattress. We have had our bed for about 3 months and its like medicine. We go to bed broken and wake up like brand new. Both my wife and I look forward to going to bed. Amazing to say the least. Its super expensive but we think its the best investment we have ever made.

Tempur
Tempur   DM

Hi, Karen. Much like any product you purchase, the one you try on a shop floor will feel slightly different to the final product you get at home. This will be slightly firmer initially as the product is fresh from manufacturing. Once the product has ‘settled in’ it will be closer to the product tried on floor and shouldn’t change from there.

Hope this clears up your query.

I have just purchased one yesterday Cloud Elite Touch from Snooze and after reading so many negatives I am seriously worried that I have wasted my $4000 which is a lot. The delivery date is nearly 2 weeks away and now thinking of cancelling the order and just buy a plush conventional mattress. There has not been one comment that has praised the mattress.

Thanks Kelly, unfortunately it arrives on Wednesday , I am concerned but I have spoken to their hierarchy in Melbourne and hopefully I am going to be happy with the product it is very costly if it doesn't suit. I have pain in pressure points and a side sleeper and needed to change and whilst the shop encourages you to try for 5 minutes it will never be enough.

Advice, don't buy one, over priced and not worth the effort , didn't work for my wife and I and I honestly gave it away after nearly 2 years , the reason we didn't get rid of earlier was the over $4000 we paid and had to save for another, conventional this time, and it is markedly better.

I tried out Tempur Cloud Collection with exclusive options available to either Snooze or Harvey Norman I was in HEAVEN!!! My back aches most of the time, but worse after trying 2 new mattresses that are two firm.. So this seemed like a wonderful solution- I want the whole shebang! Adjustable base and all. BUT reading these reviews, I'm terrified since it is a MASSIVE investment.! My last two mattresses had a trial period... so no risk taken and even if there was $1000 is not alot to lose. I don't know who to trust! Being a single mumma of mature age with a toddler and 7 year old, having been in a serious MVA injuring my back and suffering fibromyalgia, I really really need a good mattress- SLeep and support are essential!!!!! With that many negative reviews,.. well it's very very very hard to trust the promise made by Tempur. I wish you could convince me otherwise as I'ce never felt such an amazing comfort as the 10 minutes in store! - but that is not going to tell me what my back wll be like the next day!

Unhappy66
Unhappy66

Hi, I hear you. I was in the same predicament. I have neck pain all the time (radiculopathy). I persuaded my self to buy the whole setup. After $7,000 I realised I am genuinely not very satisfied with my purchase. I mean yes it feels luxurious and comfortable but support wise it’s just not there unless you are using the lift options on the bed via the remote to help you get out. I purchased mine from Domayne at Melbourne Central. I am not a heavy person and fall within the healthy range of my BMI.

After two years I noticed the mattress has a dip. I called the customer service and was advised it has to be a 2 cm for them to replace it as per their t&c’s.

The massage option is not a real massage option but rather a vibrating effect . Honestly all in all I would not purchase another Tempur mattress again. I would rather get a premium quality mattress with a nice pillow top. I say this because my brother and I got our mattress at the same time and mind you he is beyond the healthy BMI range and his mattress is still in shape and yet soft.

A cheat way I found that works is using a super plush pillow topper on a good quality mattress and boom you have a super premium mattress.

We bought a Tempur Nova Elite Cloud Soft King mattress from Harvey Norman because we had tried a memory foam topper on our old mattress & loved the feel but didn't like the fact it kept moving. I have two prolapsed discs in my neck & issues with my shoulders but a side sleeper & find the new mattress brilliant with my memory foam shaped pillow as well. I just wished we'd bought a deeper one (ours is only 25cms) as it is difficult to buy sheets for it.

can i use a woollen underlay on my tempur mattress with a tempur adjustable bed?

Tempur
Tempur   DM

Hi, Max. You should be able to use an underlay with no issues regarding adjustment, however, this may compromise the feeling or support of the mattress itself as the underlay will get in between you and the mattress.

Hope this helps & answers your query.

The memory foam is very compressible; as such you are getting an incredible amount of surface area stretch. I doubt a woollen underlay is going to cope with that degree of stretch and you'll get strange things happening such as underlay moving around undesirably. You might find it reduces the steepness of the depression around your body, which may stop you from sinking into the mattress a bit (that might be good) but on the down side (or good side depending on the mood) it might also make your partner roll into you more rather than being independently semi-buoyant on the foam.

We asked for the softest cloud matress and were sent cloud soft 21. We find that it is too firm. What is the softest matress in the cloud range

John
John

If you go to the Tempur website external link  , click on any of the mattresses and navigate to the description of the product, it tells you how thick the Tempur support and comfort layers are. My guess is the thicker the layers the softer the mattress. Maybe. You wont find the cloud 21 there because its discontinued but the comfort layer is 6 cm and the support layer is 5 cm. The price goes up for thicker layers as well.

Tempur
Tempur   DM

Hi, Liz. Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, I completely missed your question. John is correct, the cloud collection is our 'soft' feeling collection, with the depth of the mattress also impacting on the overall feel of the product, with greater depth leading to increased softness & pressure relief. However, the 21 isn't a discontinued model as suggested.

Therefore, the 'softest' mattress would be a 27-30cm in our cloud collection feel.

Hope this has answered your question.

Is there anything you can use to make it not so hot?

I believe there are some sort of 'cooling' gels that some manufacturers offer, which could be used on top like a mattress protector. I don't know if Tempur offer these.. I've also heard reports that bamboo/cotton sheets are 'cooler' feeling than other synthetic materials.

Is the tempur 19 cloud good for side sleepers and back sleepers?

Adrian
Adrian

Our experience has been that the mattress is now too soft to sleep comfortably on back on side as we sink too far into the mattress without it providing adequate support. We often now wake up with back pain and are looking to replace mattress when we can afford to. Please also be aware that these kind of mattresses do generate a lot of heat. If you live in a hot area (as we do Perth, WA) I would not recommend it.

Is a stockholm cloud soft the same as a cloud 21? The mattress we have bought is very hard and we ordered a soft mattress. I see above you advice to heat the bedroom before going to bed. This was never mentioned to us when buying the mattress. We rarely use heating and prefer not to have heating in the bedroom as any sleep expert will tell you to not have the bedroom too hot.

If I just buy the mattress without a tempur base, what sort of base should I buy? Is a slat base ok to use?

Ineke48
Ineke48

I am sorry I cannot answer that as I don't have a Tempur base. Ask if you can trial their mattress. I also have a Cloud mattress and it only now(after approx 2 months) feels comfortable. My mattress was very uncomfortable in the beginning

Amir
Amir

Hi, First of all I should say do not trust the seller specially if it is H.N. as they will do their best to sell the product. It is what they payed for. They will ask you what kind of base do you have and will reply yes that is fine. because if they say no you need to change your base and spend more money you may change your mind and they will loose the deal. As simple as that. I used my Tempur mattress on my slate base bed. My mattress failed after 4-5 months and Tempur company sent someone to have a look at it. He said your base is fine. As he was from Tempur mattress I can trust what he said. So yes you should be able to use your slat base bed. But be aware that this mattress is heavy so you may need to add extra support for the slats if they are not strong enough :-)

My last suggestion: As my mattress failed after a short time and even the replacement failed I suggest to leave this mattress in the store and try something else. I can`t suggest any specific type of mattress as it is related to your preference. I bought a firm spring mattress from a local factory for 30% of the Tempur price and I feel better now.

LeeLee
LeeLee

I have an adjustable base for my Tempur 27 cm cloud (very soft mattress). I know that Tempur mattresses need to sit on a flat surface therefore I would have a chat to sellers of Tempur and ask them the question. Just had a thought, I think that the Tempur will definitely have to sit on a well supported flat surface as any ridges or gaps between slats may damage the underside of the mattress. You do have to rotate your mattress about every 8 weeks I think as per Tempur advice and this is most important.

Tempur
Tempur   DM

Thanks for a great question. For obvious reasons we recommend using our own bases; whether adjustable or static we can then be 100% certain your new TEMPUR mattress will perform to the standards we expect. Our static bases are manufactured on sight in our Melbourne warehouse and come in a number of styles & materials to suit your personal decor or allow you to completely change the look of your bedroom.

However, we understand that customers may not be interested in our own bases, in this case using a wooden slatted base would be ideal, this is purely due to the need for ventilation, this will make sure your mattress performs to that standard you would expect. This will allow you to both keep the decor you currently have whilst improving the way you sleep.

In regards to some issues raised in the replies:

~ Due to all our retail partners being a third party customer of TEMPUR, we at TEMPUR have no control over their sales team and staff, and therefore cannot guarantee a specific sales experience, as we cannot hand pick who is on the floor when you walk into a store. Much like walking into a third-party car dealership, any recourse of the sales experience cannot be placed on the original manufacturer. In the rare case of issues, our friendly customer service team will endeavour to get the best possible outcome for our customers in compliance with our guarantee, which far surpasses industry recommendations.

~ TEMPUR does not offer free trials of our mattresses, this being due to the belief that our customers shouldn't need one, when the right mattress is purchased our customers receive a better nights sleep with a range of benefits both in and out of the bedroom. Also! In the case of other manufacturers trial guarantees, if you choose to return the mattress, if & when their "one-size" doesn't happen to fit you, you have to jump through a number of hoops, as well as in many cases pay return postage of the mattress to the manufacturer, which in many cases may cost more than the mattress itself! In the rare case of an issue with your TEMPUR product, as mentioned above, our highly trained customer service team will endeavour to get the best solution for you.

~ There is no need to rotate your TEMPUR mattress, due to the quality of the viscoelastic material we guarantee our mattresses for 10-years with our full replacement guarantee, whereby if a channel forms in your mattress of 2cm or more, we'll replace it free of charge, so no flipping or rotating for the life of your mattress.

~ Finally, as a side note, when you take delivery of your new mattress, it may feel slightly different to that of what you tried in store, this is purely due to the mattress being new and unused (unlike the one tried in store), generally as a rule of thumb we recommend giving the mattress 6-8 weeks (2 Months) in order for the cells in the makeup of the mattress to completely open up, when this occurs it will feel like the one you tried in store. To expedite this process, kneel over your mattress, this should help to open up the cells, making it as close to the final feel as possible.

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask, I am more than happy to help.

Are the Tempur mattresses made in Denmark? In particular the Cloud Supreme?

Tempur
Tempur   DM

Hi, George. The vast majority of the TEMPUR range is made in Demark, everything from Originals, through Sensations to Clouds. However, the one model that isn't is the Cloud Supreme, this is made by TEMPUR in the U.S.A. The products are made to the same exceptional standard and imported directly into Australia.

Hope this answers your question.

CLAUDIA
CLAUDIA · Cloud Supreme

What is the material made of? I know it is memory foam but what is memory made of? Does it give VOC gases like a new car? And can you give me a breakdown of all the layers and where the materials are made, can you tell me all about the glues used. I just want the truth from the tempur rep who is avoiding taking about the chemical side of this mattresses which are the biggest scam.

Ashley QLD
Ashley QLD

Hi Claudia, Tempur is a unique patented material but is from the Visco-Elastic Memory Foam family. All foams are man made and all have chemical content, and you will find 99% of mattresses will have some type of foam in them.

Tempur has gone through strict protocol and testing to make sure these are not harmful. It does have a characteristic smell like that of a new pillow, couch, mattress and car for some examples. If you contact the team at head office in Melbourne and request the documents and certificates regarding this they can forward this by email to you.

The materials are made by Danfoam in Denmark which is where the mattresses are all imported from.

All Tempur mattresses have a high density foam base layer, a Tempur support layer and a Tempur comfort layer, but it depends on the model as to how much of each of these and the other layers that are added.

I can assure you that there is no scam - Tempur is the biggest global mattress brand (owning Sealy and Sealy Posturepedic worldwide whom work independently here in Australia), and adheres to international safety standards including our own.

Hope this provides some clarification.

Can you use an electric blanket with Tempur?

Micki
Micki

I really don't know...I find that the Tempur mattress cradles you and it naturally keeps you warm so much so that I have never thought of getting an electric blanket. To get the answer for that, would be the people that sell Tempur.

Fran
Fran

We use an electric blanket because it get extremely cold here in winter. We only use it to warm the bed up, you would not need it on all night because the mattress seems to hold the warm from your body.

Evolution
Evolution

Yes, you can use an electric blanket with a Tempur mattress. However, a Tempur mattress is designed to reduce pressure points and promote blood flow throughout your body by using your body heat, so by heating the entire surface with an electric blanket these pressure relieving properties will no longer work as they should.

Make sure your electric blanket is no more than 5 years old.

Ashley QLD
Ashley QLD

You can use an electric blanket with a Tempur mattress but it will soften the entire surface and not work as effectively when you use one. This is because the Tempur mattress is designed to soften at your pressure points by using your body heat along with your weight and the distribution. I don't mind a softer bed in winter anyway though as it ''cuddles'' you more.

LeeLee
LeeLee

Don't use an electric blanket on your Tempur as it will ruin the effect that the mattress was intended for. If cold I use an electric faux fur throw with thermostat and timer, nice cosy blanket on top of you. Once the mattress warms up from the heat of your body it retains the heat.

Hi all, can anyone give me feedback after a couple of years of use? We are looking at an adjustable base and original mattress around $7k and after reading all of these reviews, makes me think it will be a waste of time. We spent $3k on a gel cool inner spring 18mths ago and have it turned upside down so it is firm enough :/

Queen Bee
Queen Bee

Hi Em67 I cant speak to how the adjustable base will go as we have only had it a couple of months. We did have one of the original "Original" mattresses for 10 years and it had a slight dip in it but nothing that bothered our sleeping. The original is harder than the cloud if you prefer a firmer mattress....but oh so good :)

Em67
Em67

Thank you Queen Bee! We have purchased the Split King Breeze Air Firm on the adjustable base and will post back here when we decide how we like it. Trying to wrap my head around finding linen now :/

Natasha
Natasha

I have had the Cloud 22 for almost 4 years now and overall it is the best mattress i have had. There is no pressure when you sleep on your side however if you are a tummy sleeper sometimes you body may sink a little lower which curves the spine a bit more (depending on your weight). I was very worried about the heat issue as I run warm in general however I have not had a problem and am genuinely surprised at that.

I have a wool quilt and a blanket over for this Melbourne winter! If you do decide to purchase make sure you get the waterproof mattress protector thrown in for the price as you have to have one for warranty purposes. It comes with a zip around cover bu that is not a protector for spills etc.

You definitely have to flip & turn the mattress also even if they say you don't have to or not often as you will feel your side get a little softer but not sag. Also try get pillows and pillow protectors out of them as I'm sure they can do it they can just be tough about it.

Paying cash also brings down the price a lot. In hindsight I probably would have gotten a slightly firmer model just because it does give to your body so well that it can be a little too soft sometimes but that said I do like a soft mattress its just the material of it means I could have gotten away with a firmer model.

Em67
Em67

Thank you Natasha. Hopefully bed will be here the end of the week. Will have to search for pillow protectors for the Umbracio, the mattress protectors were thrown in. thanks again for taking the time to answer :)

Andy
Andy

Agreed with Natasha that the Tempur mattress does become softer with use although it does not actually sag. However, she is totally wrong to say that you have to flip the mattress and it just goes to show that she does not know or understand her product. Firstly, the mattress is not made totally of 21/22/27cm of tempur material!! Depending on the model purchased, it is made of varying combinations of Tempur material; for eg 4cm of ES (Extra Soft) and 4cm of support material on a base of foam. In the deluxe versions, ES tempur material is quilted into the cover for a plush feel. This does not exist on the underside of the mattress. If you were to flip the mattress, lol, you will be sleeping on plain foam and not tempur visco elastic foam. The underside will NOT mould to your body or be temperature sensitive! You might as well buy a cheap foam mattress in this case! You can rotate the mattress head to toe if you wish.

Queen Bee
Queen Bee

We were always told not to put any topper on the Tempur mattresses as it is your body heat that softens the mattress which allows you to sink in.

Ashley QLD
Ashley QLD

A topper will not reduce the heat - it is a layer designed to soften the mattress. This just ''cuddles'' you more and may actually make you feel warmer because you have more contact with your skin/body. I would suggest a good tencel/wicking technology mattress protector (thin as a sheet and waterproof) to help wick away sweat and heat and also prevent moisture entering the mattress.
