I have a Uniden 5000nb and yesterday it stopped working on channel 18 and now displays 8-1 I’ve done a factory reset but still has same result , won’t bring channels back
Bought brand new unit twelve months ago. It has never transmitted at 5W. I put dummy load on and attached SWR/power meters. With SWR set, I get 1.5W. Why is this unit not transmitting at 5W?

How far can uniden uh 5000 transmit
That would depend on whether you are using a repeater station, the terrain , flat or mountainous , the type and position of the antenna you’re using and it’s placement on the vehicle. Avg is 30+ km check this out; external link

Hi, I have a problem with my uniden uh5000, being the lcd screen is now only showing about half of the information, making channel identification almost impossible. Is this an easy/inexpensive fix, if so how do I go about getting it repaired. Regards Lee

I have had this happen on 2 occasions to mine as well without reason, both times the unit after being switched off several times over a couple of weeks has corrected itself and now its all good again, I thought it may have been temperature related but it was inconsistent with that theory. Just waiting for it to happen again. I thought it was just my radio , but hearing your problem I suggest undien should be contacted . Its not an isolated case now.

Thanks for your reply, I too thought it may be temoerature related as i was in very hot conditions when it occured. It has not rectifued itself in any way over the last 2 weeks. I will contact Uniden to see if its an easy repair. Cheers

Hi.. Is it possible to obtain a circuit diagram for the UH5000? Is it online or do I have to contact Uniden?
Thanks Trevor
Gday Trevor, I dont have any schematics for the UH5000 you might be able to find some either through a google image search or website , failing that I would suggest either a radio repair business may be able toe help or UNIDEN however they may be reluctant to send copies since they would encourage you to send it to them for repairs $$$ if I can find anything I'll be in touch, but I just did a quick search and found nothing. Best of luck. Waz!
Thanks Wazza.. The radio is not broken but I want to be able to get into the squelch circuit. I'm using the radio cross-band to VHF. Getting into the squelch will/should eliminate the 300 ms delay. I'll keep looking or maybe even grovel to Uniden...!!!
Trevor
