V.I.P. Petfoods Dog Food Dog Rolls Questions & Answers
VerifiedI have brought this product before and I didn’t have this issue today. I brought a dog roll and it absolutely stinks. I cut it up and put it in the freezer hoping that the smell would not be so bad for my dogs but they won’t even touch it I checked the by date and it said next year but it smells disgusting. Why is this?
Hi Joanne All I can say is this is food is questionable 2 of my dogs became sick one nearly close to death eating VIP chunky gourmet mince. This stuff had zero smell and being raw makes you wonder how much preservatives they are putting in to stop any smell at all. There are heaps of awesome recipes on line and easy enough to make your own, animals will be healthier for it and you know what’s in it.
Hi Joanne, We're sorry to hear you've had a problem with our VIP Dog roll and are here to assist. We've reached out to you via DM so we can understand this further and have our team investigate. We look forward to hearing back from you. The VIP Pet Foods Team
2 out of 2 dogs became sick eating vip food! Luckily one dog threw it up shortly after eating and the other One unfortunately became violently ill (close to death) from eating VIP cost me $5300 at an emergency vet, it was gastro and vip asked to see the bill and the clinical notes as they have some sort of compensation ability but all the did was offer me more of their food, of which I declined.
They won’t do anything to help just words
And genetic blablabla
can this product be cut in half and a half of the roll be frozen?
Hi Darryl, thank you for getting in touch! Our VIP Chilled rolls can be frozen. We'd recommend dividing the roll into meal-sized portions prior to freezing as freezing the roll whole can alter the consistency of the product.
Once the product has been divided, this can be stored in the freezer for later use. Once the product is ready for use, thaw it in the fridge preferably and ensure the portion is consumed within at least 24 hours.
We hope this helps! Many thanks, Irene The Nature's Gift team
Can you advise the fat content in this?
It's say crude fat 7% at the back of this product
Hello Ricky, thanks for getting in touch.
Our VIP Mega Bite 3kg roll is manufactured in line with the AAFCO nutritional guidelines and will contain a fat percentage of 7%.
We hope this helps! Many thanks, Team VIP
How many calories are in 100g of VIP dog roll?
Hi Ashleigh, our VIP Gourmet Premium Chicken 3kg roll will contain 110kcal/100g. Hope this helps! Many thanks, The VIP team
Thank you
I have 4 Maremmas from 3 to 7 years old. I have always cooked their meals each night, they love chicken, beef, pork. I also feed them lamb chops, and beef mince. They are not fussed on veggies, although I try to sneak it into their chicken when I boil it. What I need to know is VIP nutritious, as I am aware that they are not getting everything they need from just cooked and raw meat. They have never been fussed on any commercial dog food, however they do seem to like these rolls. As far as I can see their stools are fine, and they have not vomited or have seemed to have any adverse side effects as mentioned here. I just want to know if they are getting what they need as far as vitamins and nutrition. I must say that some of these reviews have got me a little concerned
Hi Danial, we're very pleased to hear your pets are enjoying our chilled rolls. We have a qualified Research & Development team that carefully formulate our complete and balanced recipes to meet all your pets nutritional requirements in line with the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) Nutrient Profiles for the labelled breed and life stage.
If you’re not familiar with AAFCO, they are a globally recognised organisation who research and determine the safe and appropriate levels for all nutrients that need to be included in pet foods based on their breed and life stage. If a pet food is formulated as complete and balanced to meet the AAFCO nutritional profiles there will be a statement on the packaging advising what species and life stage it is for.
We can confirm all of our VIP chilled rolls are complete and balanced products, and can be fed as the sole diet.
We hope this information helps. Many thanks, The VIP team
Can you cut up and freeze your dog rolls in meal size portions. If so how long can they be frozen for?
Hi Anne Thank you for your question! Indeed you can; we would recommend freezing our VIP Dog Rolls in sealed, meal-size portions and defrosting in your refrigerator as needed. We would recommend meals be consumed within 24 hours of thawing. We would not recommend thawing and then refreezing our Dog Rolls.
These portions can be kept frozen up until their Best Before Date. We would not recommend using any of our products after their Best Before Date.
We hope this information will be helpful to you, and please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any further questions! We can also be contacted on 1800 732 573 (option 1) Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm AEST.
I would like to know VIP's reason for continuing to sell a product that has made many dogs ill, when the same product never used to. Also, the standard answer of "we are sorry our product doesn't meet your expectations, we take all reviews seriously and are working to remedy the situation", doesn't wash any more. So please can you actually be honest in your replies and actually admit the real reason for the abhorrent quality of your product?
Do not buy it any more product not up to standard Watery sloppy meat Will not buy any product of this brand ,it was good dog food but now is below standard
Yes, I will never buy any VIP products ever again. They clearly don't care about loyal customers. For that corporation to continue to sell a product when they're fully aware that there's a big problem with it, for them to knowingly put peoples beloved pets at risk of being very ill, says a lot about the mindset of that corporate body. Never again.
Hi Tim, We are pet owners too, and as such we take the quality and safety of our products very seriously. We are disappointed to learn of your continued dissatisfaction with our VIP Rolls and as always, our team are available on 1800 732 573 (option 1) should you wish to get in direct contact with us to share further details for us to review. As part of our robust quality program, all customer feedback we receive is closely monitored and thoroughly investigated to ensure the continued safety of our products. We can assure you we have no reason to suspect there is any product quality or safety issue with any of our foods. We thank you for your long time support and wish you all the best.
Hi Tim It’s R.I.P. not vip…… my dog nearly died eating vip food and luckily my other dog threw it up. Cost me $5300 at an emergency vet. Correct NEVER AGAIN. And the company had the audacity to compensate me with supplying my dogs more their food!
It's disgusting. I hate to think what goes into it. A warning. Don't ever buy pet food that is imported. Everything is irradiated. That's right, IRRADIATED!! My dog got cancer because I was feeding it kibble as part of his diet, a very expensive American brand. I did not know that all imported dog food is treated with radiation. How sick is that? So my dog died of cancer because I thought I was doing the right thing.
I would like to know what is the composition of the ingredient “ selected cereals” are? My dog has a sensitive stomach and does not eat any wheat products. Kindly be more specific . Thanks.
In my opinion the VIP dog food is not the best that you can buy for your pets. Fresh meat is best. Try chicken necks, dogs love then, and they are cheaper than the pet food rolls of unidentifable stinky contents .
Hi Vicki, Thanks for your query, Our VIP Gourmet Chicken dog rolls will not be wheat free so may not be suitable for your dog. If you are looking for a grainfree dog rolls, you may be interested in trying our Natures Goodness products. You can visit our website here to learn more external link .
Thank you for your reply.
I have used these for many years but lately the quality is garbage. As above the rolls are loose and soft and slimy. More liquid is pumped in to make the weight. But nothing ever seems to change. The company posts an apology but they don't care. They still sell their crappy dog food. An expensive product that seems to have lost the quality.
Hi Alan, Thank you for the feedback on our rolls. We apologise our rolls have not met your expectations recently and encourage you to get in touch with us directly so we can resolve any questions or concerns you may have.
where is your direct contact number?? Tonight I purchased your Natures Goodness Log and that is the same. Oily, cost more than your other logs per gram. I didn't know it was manufactured by the same company until I looked at the packaging.
Hi Alan, You can reach us on 1800 732 573 (option 1), or via our website external link We look forward to hearing from you

How much does a medium size dog require per day in grams
Hi Doug, For dogs that weigh between 10-25kg we recommend feeding between 400g-700g of our VIP Gourmet Chicken dog roll. If you are also feeding other foods you can reduce this amount accordingly. You may find that your dog needs more or less than what we suggest based of their individual needs. We hope this helps
Hi I know the feeding guide is on the roll but I would like an exact amount to feed my 6.8 kilo Boston terrier Many thanks Christine
I did the maths for you :-)
The packaging says to feed a 10kg dog 400g per day, so a 6.8kg dog would be 272 grams.
But that doesn't take into account your dog's age, activity, ideal weight, etc., so monitor it carefully.
Hi, My dog eats Natures Goodness grainfree duck & veg roll, mostly all are good but we get the occasional one that is very watery and smells. I buy from Woolworths, is this because they freeze them?
Can I freeze a roll as m6 dog is small and won’t eat all that in a few days
Could your food cause feet itches in dogs?
Are there any allergens in VIP megabites? Since my dog has been given that I've been suffering itchy skin. Can there be a connection?
my dog had an allergic reaction, swollen eyes and developed severe hot spots from scratching. Think its from the garlic.
Hi I left a dog roll out last night on the bench. Probably been out for 12 hours. Would this still be ok to feed out dogs after being out of fridge . Or will it make them sick?
It will be fine I freeze mine sometimes and it gets left out up to 24 hours and is still fine
Is it normal for the VIP roll to have a very pungent smell and still be well within the use by date?
No no no
Hi I just opened a fresh roast turkey and steamed vegetables roll and a few teaspoons worth of liquid came out when I cut through the roll. The roll smells fresh but I'm concerned that the liquid might mean the packaging has got breeched during its transport. Is it still safe to feed my dog? Since it smells fresh
Hi there , this has never happened to me , perhaps you should take it back for a replacement or refund
This product is a little moister than many of our other varieties and it may have a little free liquid on the out side. This can also happen if the roll has been partially frozen which can happen if it is placed hard against the vents in the supermarket chillier . providing the roll smells fresh and the liquid is clear the roll should be fine but if you are concerned I would return it to your supermarket or contact VIP directly.
Can I freeze this product? my dog small so can't consume in 5 days
I always freeze half for treats, pre cut in smaller pieces. Makes a nice cool snack in summer. I feed the other half over about a week, kept in the fridge. There are smaller rolls too
Thank you, shall try as my toy poodle really loves it
While we do not recommend freezing as the natural gels structure can break down giving the roll a crumblier texture Many of our loyal customers do so. The best method is to cut into portions and freeze individually then thaw as required
i bought two rolls for my german shepherd for the first time last week , now he has developed Hotspots . Has this been a problem with other dogs ?
I have not heard of any other instances . Rather the opposite many pet owners have found our rolls in particular the natures goodness grain free range beneficial for overcoming skin conditions.
