VitaPet Purrfit Clumping Cat Litter Questions & Answers
VerifiedI must be doing something wrong. I find clumping litter such a disappointment. When they have pee'd in it, it sets rock hard. How do you scoop that?
Hi Pauline, Thank you for your question :) After your cats urinate in the litter, the litter forms into a clump so that you are able to easily scoop and remove the waste with a litter scooper. If you are finding your cat’s business is getting stuck to the bottom of the litter tray, we would recommend ensuring the tray is filled to 4cm with litter. VitaPet litter trays have the 4cm fill line at the end of the tray as a guide.
Hi Pauline, If the litter is too shallow, the urine spreads like a wet pancake and becomes like a concrete mixture. I've broken a plastic scoop because of this and had to use a paint scraper to chisel it out lol.
I've found 4cm depth is minimum level but I overfill to at least 6cm, which gives a nice scoop sized clump and is easily scooped out. I've got 4 cats, of which only 3 use the trays, one of my boys urinates "Niagara Falls", so the depth has to be at least 6cm or more.
When it gets too shallow, I top it up and if mini pepple clumps starts forming, combined with being shallow, I mix it in our monster compost bin.
Then I clean disinfect the litter tray/s, dry, refill, start again :)
Hope this helps :) Cheers, D.
